The Urban Retreat is located in the Roosevelt District of Seattle, about 10 minutes north of downtown. The Retreat was designed to feel as if you have left the hustle and bustle of the city, without having to travel 100 miles. We are within easy walking distance to restaurants, bars, coffee shops, and the historic Green Lake Park. We are also within easy proximity to the University of Washington.

This place really has a cottage-like feel to it, even though it's quite modern and in a fairly busy area. Fortunately, the traffic almost completely disappears at night and it's very quiet.
We stayed for an entire week, although they do allow single night stays, which is unusual for vacation rentals. The cottage has a steam room and infrared sauna on the lower level and a huge walk-in shower with water streaming down rain-like from the ceiling. There's no TV, but instead a large screen monitor on which you could watch Dvds, if you chose. Wifi access was a little spotty, but when we asked about it, the problem was remedied the next day.
This unit, although separate from the main building, is part of an alternative therapy clinic where everyone is very "touchy feely". I don't mean that in a rude way. It just takes some gettiing used to if you're as uptight as I am. :-)
Would probably not stay here again, but only so that we could try a long term rental in a different part of the city. The location close to Green Lake was perfect for us, since we run and cycle daily. There are restaurants and cafes in the Green Lake area that are within walking distance.
One minor beef. There's no toaster in an otherwise well equipped kitchen. -

This was one of the most beautiful spaces I've ever stayed in. The décor is stunning and made me feel like I was staying at a luxury resort somewhere. The fireplace was lovely and provided enough heat for the entire cottage, even in mid January.
The shower is amazing-all glass, beautifully-crafted, has a rain spout. Just incredible.
The best part about staying at the retreat was that it made me forget that I was in a city. It was so quiet and peaceful, and I appreciated being able to "get away” even if I couldn't physically get out of town. And considering the amenities and the overall experience the space provides, the rates are fantastic.
Check-in/out was also super easy. I would go back there in a heartbeat. Thank you to the staff for making this such a great experience.
