    Additional Location Information

Draping over a hilly ridge just east of downtown, Capitol Hill is an eclectic enclave. Three colleges lie within blocks of each other (Seattle Central Community College, the Cornish College of the Arts, and Seattle University), providing plenty of customers for the area's museums, coffeehouses, and cool eclectic boutique shops.

The Seattle International Film Festival is based here, as is the city's annual Gay Pride Parade. In autumn, the Seattle Fringe Festival celebrates original plays coming out of the neighborhood's many small but notable theaters, including the Richard Hugo House and the Northwest Actors Studio. Galleries and cafés open their doors on the first Saturday of each month for Arts Orbit, Capitol Hill's art walk.

It's also home to the Frye Art Museum, where American and European paintings can be viewed for free, and the elegant Seattle Asian Art Museum, with its renowned collection of workshoused in a 1933 art modern structure in Volunteer Park.

The entire neighborhood is very safe and quiet. You'll find no shortage of bars, restaurants , coffee shops and grocery stores. Just two doors down , there's a bus that will take you everywhere or you can have a cab ride.

      Great for a family retreat

Left on 08/30/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Enjoyed this vacation rental in august, really enjoyed the neighborhood. Close to several local eateries and great bars. There was a certain feel of staying in a 100 year old home, enjoyed the atmosphere of old style. Of course the home has been upgrated with modern appliances and is very comfortable. Would definetly stay again, just for the location. My only coments would be, if you are concerned about privacy, don't hang out in backyard as there are two 4 story apartment buildings on each side of you. Some may feel they are on stage while enjoying the hot tub and deck. I would suggest adding a TV in the living area adjacent to the kitchen, the entertainment room would not be very entertaining if you spend alot of time watching TV. We stayed busy enough it was not a big deal to us. All in all a great trip and great old school house.

Thanks for staying with us. The house is in fact the last house left on the block, its a real house pretty much in the middle of the city. This is a huge part of its charm. You can't really get closer to downtown, the space needle, or pike place market without moving into a cramped and small condo. As for the TV.. its not a TV watching house.. There is one. .Its there. but, it is not in the main social area of the house. That said.. There should be plenty of room if you want to take a down day or two and veg out in front of the TV.. If you want to gather everyone around to watch a game I suggest you check out our house "PureSpace" which has a TV in the main area. Or "Fun House" which has 2 Tv's .. 3 if you get the extra attached unit. Thanks for staying and we hope to have you back again .
