I loved harvesting from the gardens and the fresh eggs. The cottage fells so secluded and often had visits from deer. The claw foot bath tub and hot tub were wonderful.

Los AngelesA romantic, private and green getaway in the heart of Sonoma Cou

The studio cottage was immaculate and beautifully appointed. It was located in a completely private area on the property. Christine and Dave welcomed us warmly and pampered us with fresh robes, wine, bread and treats from the farm. Learning about the farm and interacting with the farm animals added a great element to our visit and we looked forward to returning "home" to the cottage each day after wine tours and the usual Sonoma attractions. It had elegant country charm and was very comfortable. We can't wait to plan our next trip!

Langley, WACozy and romantic home away from home
Left on 10/29/2010 for a stay in October 2010
After a night of no sleep at a misadvertised house-share, we hustled to McDonald's (one of the few places with WiFi at the wee morning hours) with our laptop and found the Full House Farm. We wanted our own place, wildness around it and a hot tub. Fortunately for us Christine had a cancellation and took us on the spot. It was the weekend of the torrential rain. When we walked into the sweet studio cottage we thought we'd come to heaven. It is clean and cozy and romantic. A claw foot tub, cozy private hot tub on the deck, a garden to pick veggies from, fresh eggs, Christine's goat cheese and frozen yogurt made for a lovely stay. Best of all is the feeling of being home that Chris and Dave (a couple we can easily talk story with) gave us. Back here in Washington we sorely wish we could return to our lovely cabin in the oak trees where the owls hoot at dusk. This is a gem, a lovely find, that set our standard for cozy romantic cottages in a natural setting in West Sonoma County. Mmm.

Rancho Palos Verdes, California, USACharming Private Studio on a Sustainable Organic Farm
Left on 10/13/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We spent two nights in this fantastic studio cottage with a deck that looked out into a field of oak trees. It had all the amenities we were hoping for and then some! A beautifully simple decorated studio that included a fully stocked kitchen with oven and stovetop (they even had fresh coffee beans and a bean grinder!), a comfortable bed, TV and DVD player, a large clawfoot tub and an outdoor hot tub! Our hosts, Christine Cole and her husband Dave, were extremely welcoming, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic about sustainable, healthy food and gardening. They provided us a tour of their organic farm that has goats, chickens, sheep, and horses, and Christine shared produce from her own garden with us in addition to all that was available for us to pick from the guest's garden just around the corner from the studio cottage.
In addition to the studio cottage they also rent a larger unit with 3 bedrooms, and provide a bed and breakfast in the main farm house. We chose the studio cottage because that's all we knew about at the time, and it seemed very reasonable for the price.
During the days we stayed in Sebastopol we went canoeing on the Russian River (about a 15-20 minute drive from the farm) and visited some local wineries on the way. Full House Farm is just a short drive from downtown Sebastopol, a couple miles away on Bodega Hwy.
Although the general amenities were neat, charming, and clean, what we enjoyed most was the garden. We made full use of the kitchen during our stay and had a dinner of chicken roasted with fresh herbs, potatoes, onions, and carrots; steamed kale and garlic; beets topped with vinaigrette and goat cheese from Christine's adorable goat Willow; salad and spinach greens with carrots, lemon cucumber, and strawberries; and finished with a dessert of lavender goat's milk ice cream topped with warm rhubarb, strawberry and raspberry sauce. (All of which came from the guest's garden except for the chicken!) Even if you don't make as extensive use of the garden as we did, you can easily enjoy the fruits of Christine and Dave's labor in simpler ways. Both mornings we had complimentary fresh eggs from Christine's chickens. Or if you're not into gardening and cooking, at the very least, I'm sure you'd probably enjoy a night under the stars in the hot tub with a glass full from the complimentary bottle of wine!
