Description from the owner
Talahogan is a Navajo word for "home on hill." For the Navajo, the hogan is a sacred dwelling--a protection and refuge—grounded on a harmony with life and nature. Such is the spirit of Talahogan, a country home located on 2.5 acres on a tranquil hilltop miles away from the bustle of Sedona’s commercial and tourist centers. From this hilltop perch, you enjoy the most sweeping panorama of Red Rock Country--a creation of awesome natural beauty sacred to Native Americans--in a peaceful country setting where wildlife still abounds. Originally a hunting cabin built 80-90 years ago, the house has been renovated...Read more

Additional Location Information
Talahogan sits on one of the most remarkable view properties in all Sedona. From its hilltop perch on Sedona's western fringe, there are unobstructed panoramic views of Red Rock Country in virtually all directions--from Cathedral, Castle, Bell and Courthouse rocks in the southeast to Mitten Ridge and Schnebly hill in the east. To the north, are magnificent views of Capitol Butte, the Wilderness Area and Boynton Canyon, wrapping around to Doe Mesa and Cockscomb Butte, the westernmost bastions of Red Rock Country. The beauty of these red rock vistas varies from season to season and throughout the day as the sun and clouds move across the sky in an ever-changing tableau of light, shadows and color...sometimes, like after monsoon rains, graced by a magnificent rainbow.

What Past Guests Are Saying
Great house, great location, great stay
My family of 3 stayed here for a week - myself, husband, and 5yo daughter. Home is everything as billed - well-stocked kitchen, awesome hot tub, huge windows on both sides of house with views that just take your breath away (even laundry room has view!). House was comfortable and roomy. Lots of towels, extra blankets, closet space, separate TV den left living room free for playing, reading, sitting and viewing red rocks and garden, kitchen opens to living space. Again, views awesome from all rooms and yet, home was very private in quiet neighborhood. Gardens even in winter had euphorbias and rosemary blooming and bees were buzzing like crazy every day. No javelinas came to visit, but 1 coyote came to garden. Enjoyed hot air balloons taking off every morning and could watch them from our beds. 5yo loved that. Hiking trails are within 5 min or so of house. Grocery stores 10 min drive. Drove to Grand Canyon for day trip and ate at Elotes one night. Super trip! Thank you to Ron, the owner for offering such a lovely home, and being so easy to work with for reservations and check-in procedures.

"privacy and beauty"
We have been staying at Tala Hogan every March for the past 5 years for approximately two weeks. We have enjoyed ourselves tremendously every time we have been a guest here. The beautiful surroundings, the wildlife that is attracted by the lovely stream and ponds, cactus and flowers, the huge treed patio and the stunning red rocks of Sedona you can't beet a stay at Tala Hogan. We are both huge mountain bike enthusiasts and love the exciting trails available to us in Sedona and area. Coming back to Tala Hogan after a long ride is like coming home to a friend. The hot tub is a wonderful place to share memories of our rides and the beautiful scenery we encountered. The kitchen has every thing we need to put together a fantastic meal. The great room with it's natural stone fire place is a great place to relax in after our evening meal. The home is spacious and meticulously maintained with fantastic character and a wonderful sense of heritage. Everything in the home worked the way it should. In all our visits there we have never needed to call Ron with a problem. I have no worries recommending this home to friends and fellow travellers alike. A wonderful setting and a greet adventure awaits all the guests of Tala Hogan

Talahogan, which my wife found while hunting on the Internet has raised our love of the red rocks of Sedona to a level higher than we thought possible. Last year was our second trip to Talahogen and our sixth to Sedona, We love the peacefulness of the western part of Sedona, and the house, on top of a quiet mesa, affords unmatched views of many of the signiture formations. Ron has done wonders with landscaping the mesa to keep it natural, yet usable. It allows use to be ourselves, on our own schedule. We love to hike and Doe Mesa is a ten minute drive. The center of town is ten minutes in the opposite direction. Two of our favorite canyons are almost walking distance. The house is the best [part as it optimizes the views. The core is a ninety year old hunting lodge that Ron has remodeled, giving the great room a 270 degree panarama. The kitchen is wonderful, as is the hot tub on the patio, The artificial stream lures wildlife, and we could spend a week just watching the quail and deer. Simply put, we love the place and plan to make a yearly trip there as long as Ron makes it available.
Calming, spiritual and breathtaking
This is a truly special place. I know that it is as close to heaven on earth that I ever expect to get. Do yourself a favor and spend some time there you will come away refreshed with a whole new perspective.
