What Past Guests Are Saying
I could live here
I can't say enough good about this beautiful villa and its surroundings. The photos looked great but -- this is a first -- the reality was better. The house was airy, light, and outstandingly comfortable. I had been concerned about noise in the early morning from a close-by mosque but the bedrooms were quiet and cool.
The villa must have had an architect involved, as it's beautiful and its functionality has been well thought out. The master bedroom, for example, opens onto its own small private sitting room that shares the upper verandah's view. (Great for the adults to have a quiet morning coffee.) Because the house is at the top of the town, nothing overlooks it, and the view is wonderful.
Downstairs is a decent kitchen (could use more counter space, but I quibble) and a huge sitting room that opens via large glass doors onto the lovely garden. At the other end of the downstairs, tucked away, are a sauna and a Turkish bath. I regret that we didn't use them, as we there in the heat of summer, but a winter stay would have its own rewards.
The jewel is the garden, which is split into two levels. The main garden is a lawn flanked by flowering bushes, with a wood oven along the side. It did lack shade but was very pleasant in the early morning and evening. The lower garden, with a beautiful little pool surrounded by trees and comfortable lounge chairs, was fantastic.
Manager alison Morel is helpful, reliable, and knowledgeable. She is an arranger extraordinaire, laying on groceries in advance at my request (at cost, no fee), supplying airport transfers and very inexpensive rental car, replacing a broken coffee pot as quickly as possible. Couldn't ask for more.
Selcuk itself was a pleasant surprise. Evidence of tourism but not nearly the level of pestering to buy that we encountered in Istanbul. It had a human scale. Nice little restaurants, wonderfully courteous and charming people, and a market for fresh food. We lacked for nothing.

Wow, thank you so much for your fantastic and very informative review, how nice of you to take so much time and trouble.
Best wishes to you all and hope sometime in the future you may be able to make it back.
All the best,
Our best holiday yet!
We have just returned from our most sucessful holiday yet!
We were welcomed by alison, She kindly bought in some provisions ready for us, to welcome us after a long night-time journey, and made us feel at home immediatly!
Alison answered all of our questions relating to activities and places of interest ( of which there a many in the locality)to keep several teenagers happy! We visited several sites and spent a wonderful day at the beach in the Mili Park Nature Reserve.
St Johns House, situated in the very pleasant older part of town, was perfect. A swimming pool, sauna and even a Turkish bath, a new experience for all of us and very welcome after a busy hot day!The house was very clean and felt very grand compared to our house in England.
I would definately recommend St Johns House for a family or group of friends to enjoy a pleasant stay in Turkey.

Thank you so much for your review, was lovely to meet you all and hope one day you may have the chance to visit again, All the best, Alison
What a wonderful stay
Have never stayed in such a beautiful holiday rental property,(have stayed in many) i speak for me and the party of eight who equally enjoyed the lovely, extremely comfortable house. Private pool, sauna lovely garden and my first experience of the very grand Turkish bath, perfect after a long day visiting the ruins of Ephesus and St Johns Church which was on our doorstep.
Alison could not have been more helpful, she even filled the fridge with provisons which we were very grateful for after a long journey and late arrival. The mini bus, airport transfers and advice made our stay even more enjoyable.
Selcuk is a very beautiful place with many very interesting things to do and see, the local restuarants were all very good and we enjoyed Pamucak beach very much, the sunset was stunning.
I have no trouble what so ever to recommend St Johns House and only wish we can once again enjoy another stay at the house sometime in the future.
