Singapore, SingaporeFantastic service and it was absolutely relaxing!
Left on 06/20/2012 for a stay in June 2012
Pros -
Service at the hotel was very prompt and all staff were very friendly, and were well-versed in English. Check-in was a breeze and our butler was very patient and friendly with us. The staff did everything they could to accommodate us, e.g. offering to call us a taxi when they knew we were heading out, and escorting us to see another villa in their compound.
The entire compound of villas was very well planned, in the sense that it offered a great deal of privacy for each villa. We were very pleased with the entire layout of the villa itself as it felt very luxurious and comfortable, and certainly proved to be so throughout our stay there.
The in-villa breakfast was pretty good, and I was stunned at first when the butler informed me he would be cooking the meal in the villa's kitchen. Despite this, there was no smell at all and breakfast everyday was a pleasant affair. We didn't get to make much use of the pool, but it's good enough for a casual swim. The bathroom was very beautiful and had more than enough space for 2 people to use it at the same time. The bedroom was gorgeous and the bed itself (and pillows) were very comfortable. Also, in the bathroom, was a box filled with some everyday items you might need. I was especially impressed with what they provided, as besides the standard dental kit, they provided a comb, emery board, matchsticks, and even cotton wool! I certainly found the comb to come in handy as I forgot to bring my own...
Location-wise, it is about a 15 to 20 min walk to the beach, with many shops and restaurants along the way. For a Singaporean, the prices in the shops around these areas are about the same as local prices, so we didn't shop much. Food is good and cheap around here, and readily available till late as there are many bars around the area. The walk to the beach isn't too far as the weather was pretty good and there is lots to see on the way there. Oh yeah, and there is a supermarket (Coco's) about 5 mins away. Very convenient as they sell all sorts of everyday items that might come in handy.
All in all a very good experience at the villa and I would definitely be staying here again when I return to Bali.
Cons-
1. The curtains in the bedroom do little to block out the morning sun, so bring a pair of eye masks is recommended if you plan on sleeping well past 7am. Not too great a problem for heavy sleepers like me!
2. The floor of the open shower was always littered with dead leaves from neighbouring trees/plants, so we didn't use it. The staff didn't seem to have cleared the debris away either, which was pretty disappointing (but I'm sure they would if you requested).
3. The furniture is pretty old/used. Looks ok but it has a tendency to malfunction a little, eg our toilet flush would get stuck sometimes. Easily fixed though.
4. The toiletries provided (eg soap bar, shampoo, shower gel) are all lemongrass-scented. Or something along those lines. Unless you like that kind of smell, you should probably bring your own!Response from The Shanti Collection - 07/29/2012

Left on 04/12/2011 for a stay in March 2011
We stayed at Villa amore for 3 nights in March. It was our first villa experience and have mixed feelings about the property.
Pros-
Check in was quick and staff were efficient and friendly
Breakfast cooked in the villa was at the time requested and tasty
Villa layout was well thought out - the 2 bedrooms were very seperate if you wanted some privacy.
Communal area was air conditioned and had plenty of space for 4 people
The pool was clean and gardens were lovely.
Villa was in a good area within easy walking distance of restaurants and shops.
All staff were friendly and always smiling
Cons-
The villa is in desperate need of a paint
a lot of the floor tiles in the bottom level were cracked
White furniture was marked and stained and needed refurbishing
Basin in bathroom leaked
Everything looked like it needed a good clean and scrub
although there are 2 bedrooms there were only 2 sun lounges by the pool -

Hong KongOur stay at amore
Left on 09/07/2010 for a stay in August 2010
We had a wonderful time at the Villa amore. The service was excellent! Kadek, Agus, Suamba and arie were especially helpful and very nice. The villa was clean and big. The beds were comfortable. I thought the place was very nice and so relaxing. The only recommendation I would give to make the villa nicer would be to upgrade some basic things like some of the handles of doors and toilet were old, and not very secured on. And even maybe fresh coat of paint would make the place look even better. The amenities were great, we enjoyed the breakfast, the cell phone per villa was a great idea. The location was nice. Overall is was a great place that I would recommend to my friends and family.
