I recently stayed at Villa Istimewa with a few friends and it was the perfect villa for us. The lagoon style pool was fantastic and we each had our own private areas of the villa. Location was spot on with easy lane access to the main road or to the back road which led straight to Eat Street in Seminyak. Staff were friendly and we had massages in our villa every day. Great for adults but some of the stairs would be a little steep for young children.

Thank you so much for your praising words and your constructive suggestion.
We are planning to turn the massage room into a bedroom on ground level, so there would be two bedrooms without stairs involved for families with small children.
We hope to welcome you again soon.

The Staff here are brilliant. The villa is perfect for relaxing and located in a great area for shopping and restaurants. Katut the cook makes the best breakfast each morning and is happy to make lunch and dinner for days you dont want to go out. Her cooking is the best food I have had in Bali. Made the housekeeper keeps the place spotless and the gardener comes in everyday to ensure everything is clean and tidy. The security gaurds are great guys and only to happy to have a chat with you.
We will be back. Thanks anikaResponse from Anika Bali - 09/17/2012

Absolutely loved my stay at the fabulous Istimewa Seminyak. The property has a wonderful Balinese feel and boasts a fabulous pool surrounded by beautiful gardens. The property is tastefully decorated, very comfortable and spacious.
Situated in a great central location, and although close to the hectic centre of Seminyak, once you step through the gates you're in a private oasis that provides a peaceful and relaxing environment.
The beautiful staff really made the stay extra special, attending to every possible need. Would definitely recommend Istimewa Seminyak and will be back again.

We are a family of 6, with 4 teenagers. We have been coming to Bali for several years now and have tried a variety of different accommodations, hotels, homes without staff, homes with staff and anything in between. Istimewa was finally what we were always looking for. A great location, in the heart of seminyak for those of us looking to shop, a walking distance or very, very cheap taxi ride to the beach for the early risers who wanted to get in as much body boarding as humanly possible, a fabulous staff that was as kind as they were efficient and helpful and finally a house and garden that brought us into the true balinese luxury of peace, calm and relaxation. We loved it and are planning are already planning our next visit there.

Villa Istimewa is in a great location. It is really close to some great shops and the main road that goes through Seminyak all the way to Kuta. One of the great things about it is the privacy and quiet that you experience. It really is like a little oasis. I really liked the design and layout of the villa. It was not just one thing, but lots of little special touches, from the sloping bottomed swimming pool, to the sunken lounge that looked straight into the pool, to the spa area, the greenery, the timber feel of the villa, the quaint balconies for the bedrooms, the great staff and just the chilled out atmosphere of the whole villa. It really did tick a lot of boxes.
It is a beautiful villa and so special that it definitely will leave a lasting and enjoyable impression for us. -

I stayed at the villa for 3 nights, just over the last weekend, with 2 other families and our 5 children.
Arriving at night, I was greeted by the magnificent view of the villa and the pool, and the lovely flowers growing in the garden and all around the house.
Love the pool & the aquarium like window in the living room. It is great for both kids and adults!!
Every morning, we have nice breakfast prepared by the cook by the pool, while the rooms are cleaned by the housekeeping.
Some parts of the wooden flooring in the living area are a little worn out. You can feel the wood sinking in when you step on them but it did not bother us much.
Overall, it is a superb place to stay in and I wish I had stayed longer.

Villa istimewa is a beautiful villa in an excellent position. From the moment we arrived, Ketut the villa manager went out of her way to make us feel at home. We were tavelling on business with 2 children and required a villa where the staff were able to babysit through the day. They were wonderful with our children and taught my daughter all about Balinese flower arranging and making offerings, they held a ceremony in the villa, which she loved.
The villa itself is down a quiet gang, which is a welcome retreat at the end of a busy day. It is close to all the great retaraunts on Jl Laksmana. They are a 2 minute taxi ride away or 8 minute walk.
It is in walking distance to Bintang supermarket, were you can pick up supplies for the kids.
We all thoroughly enjoyed out stay. -

My wife and I, along with our two daughters (4 & 2.5) really enjoyed our stay at Istimewa. The villa is in a fantastic location being only 100m from the main eat street of Jl Seminyak yet it is really quiet and very private. The pool is amazing and was a big hit with the girls plus the sprawling gardens yielded plenty of "exploring" time for the girls.
As for the villa itself, it is not brand new and has a definite lived in feel. It has a rambling lay-out with three bedrooms upstairs (great a/C)serviced by two neat bathrooms. The stairs are quite steep however our two girls had no issue with them. There is a seperate self-contained bungalow which is great for afternoon naps.
The staff are super friendly and served a simple breakfast each morning and offered to cook our lunch and dinner each day from a menu. You simply pay for the price of the various materials and spot the girls some overtime if they need to stay back to cook. It is a great idea if you have younger children. We even had Kade stop back one veneing and babysit the girls while we ducked off for dinner at Jimbaran Bay. Btw - if you run out of "refreshments" late at night you simply chat with the security guard and he will happily do a trip to the local mini-mart.
In summary - great family/friends destination in super location. If you need anything done or organised, the staff are only too willing to help (as is anika!). -

We spent 7 nights at Villa Istimewa in October and loved every minute of it. The staff were fantastic. They made us feel at home. The pool was great, the beds comfy and the villa itself had a very homely feel not sterile like some other villas we have seen. Ketut (Cook) made the most delicious meals and Kadek and Made were great with the kids. A very relaxing holiday.

Left on 02/01/2011 for a stay in January 2011
We were a group of 7 old friends (5 from UK, 2 from australia) and we found the villa an ideal introduction to Bali for the UK contingent. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and looked after us very well - nothing was too much trouble. The lovely lady who made our breakfasts and cooked dinner for us was absolutely wonderful, as was the manageress. We expected the villa to be more Balinese style than western and it certainly exceeded our expectations. The rooms were clean and comfortable; the location quiet except for the frogs; the bathroom in the lotus room was basic but more than adequate. All in all we had a brilliant stay and we (from Perth), after many visits to Bali will never stay in a hotel there again! It's going to be villa holidays for us!

AustraliaLovely house in Seminyak
Left on 07/27/2010 for a stay in July 2010
We stayed at Villa Istimewa for 5 nights, our group consisted of two couples and two teenagers. The rooms are lovely and open up during the day to the gorgeous garden. The house is not new but everything was in good order and it has a lot of charm. It is extremely private but close to shopping and many well known Seminyak restaurants. We liked that it was a house and not part of a complex of villas. It was easy to get a taxi on the main road (the house is down a narrow lane) to get to the beach etc. There was some noise from the band at the nearby community centre/temple (not sure what it was) at night although this didnt really bother us.
The staff are lovely and the cook is excellent and we got her to cook a number of meals including a dinner for some of our friends who came over one evening.
The swimming pool is huge and quite a feature of the property. We had in house massages and used the spa, there was a great spa place nearby we also used. -

PhilippinesGreat location & nice setup for privacy, little rustic for price
Left on 06/15/2010 for a stay in May 2010
Positive: great location in Seminyak--close to shops, restaurants, etc.; trip consisted of 4 couples (2 of whom had newborns with them), so it was great to have the place to ourselves--unlike a hotel where the new parents probably would have felt much more segregated; in-house cook--inexpensive and good food was super convenient and relaxing; staff was all very friendly and helpful; pool very relaxing.
Not-so-positive: taxi drivers do not know where this is located--have the villa pick you up when you arrive at the airport for the first time; air-conditioners in 2 (of the 4) bedrooms and sala need to be fixed; more rustic than pictures indicate and I felt it was a little pricey; can't really walk to the beach, but it is an easy & cheap taxi ride. -

We stayed at the Villa Istimewa Seminyak for 1 week. The home is lovely, albeit rustic, and charming. The pool, gardens and outside areas were supurb and a credit to the staff and owners. The location was excellent.
For us, the staff were a key plus, from the Villa manager down to the gardener, all were extremely helpful and attentive. The Villa Manaager (and her Husband), in particular, were fantastic and nothing was too much of a problem. When we left - it was like leaving family - which is the highest praise I can offer for the staff.
The cook was excellent - and we highly recommend any visitor enjoy the delights of the Indonesian cuisine prepared 'in-house' and served beside the pool.
Overall - we were delighted with our stay and would not hesitate in recommending the Villa Istimewa to anyone looking for the best that Seminyak has to offer.Response from Anika Bali - 02/25/2010
