Villa Taman Rahasia invites you into the wonders of its 'secret garden' a tranquil oasis in the heart of Seminyak, Bali, located down a small laneway off one of the buzzy Seminyak main roads. Part of 'village life', just two minutes walk away from the frenetic high-paced popular Seminyak scene, you will be immersed in a feeling of the local Balinese world with all the village activities going on around you. This combination of the Bali of old, and the chic Seminyak, allows you to experience what Bali used to be before development overtook it. Just behind the villas there is a small village with its Hindu Temple. You may be greeted by the friendly village dogs, and trip over a chicken or two. The children you pass will greet you with their warm smiles, and you will watch the Hindu women perform the ritual of the daily blessings. Attention to detail has been paid to the design and decoration of Villa Taman Rahasia - a beach-house style 'bijoux' and slightly funky Villa - from the selection of granite and marble for floors, vanities and bench tops, to the choice of quality European fittings and fixtures. This is fused with traditional tastes of Bali decor, and bold, colours and designs to provide you with a Bali home-away-from-home to savour. For this reason, we discourage any parties from being held in either villa, as we respect the needs of our guests

Response from the owner Hello Thank you for your review and for your design tips; the timber venetian blinds have had some rough treatment from guests through peak season and we agree, there are some blades that need attention and this is being done in a 2-day break we have during what has been a booked-out 4 months. We're not sure what is meant by klamboo... and although the slate and paliman tiles may not be to everyone's taste, we feel they do suit the style of villa at this stage until our major renovation scheduled for later this year. And the fact that we are renovating is why we have kept the price of the villa so competitive meaning everyone has profited from a lower price bracket. But please know some of your issues are being attended to. We're sorry that one of the outside masseuses arrived late for your appointment. We try to help guests by ordering services that we do not offer but as this is an external service it is one we have little control of... In fact, Republik restaurant which is excellent and a local favourite is directly across the road, and Warisan and Mama San are 4 minutes walk in each direction.... And directly across the road and several minutes walk down the small lane is Happy Chappy restaurant - so we defintiely have excellent restaurants several minutes away. The big choice of restaurants in Eat Street is about 8-10 minutes - it's a shame you didn't know about Republik in particular as our guests all love it... We are happy you liked the breakfast as we do offer either cooked or continental and it's true - Fenny makes the best cooked breakfasts in Bali we think :) Again thank you for your review and for staying with us Sitara Villa Group management

Response from the owner Hello and thank you for your review We are so glad you loved the villa, the decor and the staff and service. Unfortunately, with Bali being a Hindu island there are often ceremonies in the local Temples, and we do have a lovely but large Temple near us. I agree, during your stay they were particularly frequent to the point that even I (as I was staying in the same lane as the villa you were in) asked our staff why. Apparently this was an unusual period of ceremonies, leading up to Indonesian National Day, and also the lunar calendar and all the fortuitous days for celebrating particular events in the lives of the Hindus who need to do the cremations, weddings etc on certain days to be in accord with their cultural beliefs, fell during this period. And they ALL do a wedding ceremony, or a cremation, or the celebration of a birth etc etc at the same time. It is not usually as intense as this at all, and is far more intermittent than it has been this particular lunar cycle. As you can see from previous reviews mentioning the oasis of this villa, this has never been a problem in the past and I promise you, was a really irregular period... Again, with the problem of the busy roads - unfortunately that is the nature of busy Seminyak, however if you take the back small lane to Seminyak Square the distance is shorter and the traffic less congested. Also you stayed with us during peak season, when everything is so incredibly busy. However, apart from the ceremonies being musically loud until 10pm, we are really happy you appreciated the villa and our staff. Best wishes Sitara management

As we mentioned when you reviewed us on the other online site, the sofa was due for replacement however over the Christmas period our order was delayed and so we had to steam-clean the one that we had, to cover the period you were there. So it was actually spotlessly clean, but yes, in need of updating. The new one arrived 3 days after your departure so I am sure if you visit us again you will not be disappointed with the comfortable 3-seater sofa with fresh new cushions. Also, our pricing was adjusted for you by $30 per night to compensate in advance for the fact that our new furniture had not yet arrived Again, as I mentioned in my response to the review you posted on the other site, the bathrooms are exactly as represented in the photos on all our sites. They have a slate floor tile, marble vanities, glass basins, European modern tap-wear, and a toilet with built-in bidet system. They are half indoors/half outdoors as is the Bali style, and they faithfully representative of a tropical Bali bathroom, so we are unsure as to how we could update these. Also, it is worth noting that we keep our prices incredibly competitive- not because we feel we are outdated, but to represent the style of villa we promote Taman Rahasia as being - a funky little cosy villa with a wonderful garden and great features and inclusions Finally, at the risk of sounding defensive, the pool is cleaned twice a day. The staff tried several times to come in during the day to keep scooping out the leaves from the huge Frangipani tree over the pool, but when a guest locks the door our staff, who are incredibly respectful, do not enter. Having said this, it was done every day of your stay in the morning and the night. The Frangipani tree does drop leaves and flowers, but it would be such a shame for us to remove it as most guests rave about how beautiful it is We are glad, this aside, you had a lovely stay and appreciated the services offered by our wonderful team Kind regards The Sitara Villa Group team
