      Great Villa, Great Experience!!

Left on 06/13/2013 for a stay in May 2013

This villa was a completely satisfying experience for us. Nick (the owner) had taken care to take care of every detail in the villa- with different coffees in the kitchen, every bedroom furnished very appropriately, beautiful lights in the pool, TV right in front for relaxing in the pool and catching up, Raka (maintenance person) for taking care of the house, arranging for pick up (and the driver, made- pronounced maaday - is great guy with very reasonable prices)- everything was fantastic. We really enjoyed our stay here- we met Nick when we checked out and thanked him personally. Great guy, great place.

Left on 05/23/2013 for a stay in May 2013

As you walk in you are welcomed by a gleaming pool that sets the atmosphere for a spacious well appointed villa that provides everything, the wifi is super fast, cable TV is awesome and there bedrooms are excellent size with icy cold air conditioning and Tv's in all rooms.
The outside areas are clean and well presented, the kitchen has everything you need and good size. Security is excellent.
If I had to say it was lacking anything it would be ceiling fans to both outside entertaining areas.
Thank you very much Nick, for lovely enjoyable stay, will definitely recommend.

Left on 05/19/2013 for a stay in May 2013

We cant say enough good things about Nick & his Villa. Booking with Nick was a breeze he was always happy to answer any questions we had. The airport pick up was great, our driver was waiting at arrivals for us & took us straight to the villa where we were met by the smiling Raka :)The location of the villa is just perfect, so close to the many restaurants on eat street and short walk to the beach, but tucked away in a quiet & peaceful location. This was our 3rd Villa experience & so far the best! The Villa is so clean & comfortable & really has everything you need. We absolutely loved the layout of the villa, how the pool was main feature! We will be sure to stay here again(if we can) when we are next in Bali, we had the most relaxing Bali trip we have ever had & this Villa contributes alot to that.

      Quiet Escape

Left on 04/24/2013 for a stay in April 2013

Firdaus 100X is in a great location. We were within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, a grocery, and entertainment. In the early mornings the streets were not busy and we were able to go running to the beach and watch the sunrise. At the end of the day, it was wonderful to retire to the villa for peace and quiet.

The lighting and the pool add the perfect ambiance to a comfortable home. We cooked at least one or two meals a day in the kitchen and found it to have adequate pots, pans, and utensils. Coffee grounds were provided and a French Press, but just for reference, there are no cooking spices or general condiments. Having a wash machine and plenty of clothes lines for drying allowed us to cut back on the amount of luggage we needed. Overall the house was safe, comfortable, quiet, and a joy to stay in.

The housekeeper, Raka, was always cheerful and helpful. He cleans very thoroughly and will be flexible according to your schedule.

The driver, Made, was an invaluable resource for getting around the island. He drove us to several areas of interest and understood our desire not to be around the main tourist attractions. We enjoyed some temples, museums, a coffee plantation, and a traditional village. He is a patient and cautious driver, which is very much appreciated.

The villa is wonderful and you can tell Nick cares about his guests. The decorations are personal and meaningful, and small details like magazines and Bali travel guides are available. It feels like a real home, not a cookie-cutter hotel room.

Thank you, Nick! We had a wonderful stay and were pleased at how easy it was to settle into the villa and feel at home.

A couple of my girlfriends and myself stayed at this villa for my 30th birthday and we had the most fabulous time!! The villa is amazing! It is so flash and in the best possible location! The finish and decor was done to such a high standard and it looked brand new! It included a cleaner, gardener and was super secure, all the girls felt so safe, even coming back late at night! It was totally private and set back enough to not have any noise from the street and yet only a moments stroll to the action! Close to the beech ( ku de ta) heaps of great shopping and loads and loads of awesome restaurants, cafes, bars and night spots - all only a short stroll away! Can't imagine going to Bali and staying anywhere else! Thank you for a brilliant holiday - we will definitely be back again!!!

      Back for More Relaxation

Left on 01/26/2013 for a stay in January 2013

This is our second stay at Nicks Villa in lovely Bali. The Villa was lovely and clean and the sheets were to die for. The boys love it there (9&7)always in the pool and they think the outdoor shower is brilliant. Raka is always willing to do what ever you need and is great with the boys. We all had a great sleep in the quiet Villa after traveling all day. Refreshed the next morning it was breakfast and of to the beach for some R&R; before going to the wedding. The wedding was really beautiful and full of traditional costumes and music great evening was had by all. Then it was relax time so we spent our time basically on the beach , in the pool at Nicks or eating . The location is perfect for those who like to shop, go to the beach or chill out in a bar or eat out. There is so much different food on the strip just at the end of the Gang that you don't have to eat in the same place twice. We tried a few new places this time round and found some gems. Cafe Bali is a really nice comfortable place set in a colonial era and it just makes you feel relaxed in there, the food was good and not expensive, Chandi is upmarket setting and service is really good so is the food but you do pay for it. Across the road is The Kitchen, menu is extensive and the food very good with good prices, The Pad Thai is good when you ask for extra spicy.Soho has had a face lift and new menu well worth a visit for a good fresh Burger. We caught up with Nick at a place called Manos Cafe, great little place it was nice to catch up with Nick for a couple of cold ones and have a chat about Bali,he is a wealth of local knowledge. What can i say we slipped straight into relax mode and had a great time at the Villa. Another tip is the Bali Wine Shop at Kayu aya Square near Ku De Ta great wines and prices. Again many thanks for letting us stay at the Villa Nick, its always a pleasure and we will be back soon.Nick you will need another Villa soon as this one will be fully booked before you know it?

      Location, style, amenities - perfect!

Left on 11/21/2012 for a stay in November 2012

My husband and I are frequent world travellers. This time we wanted a short break somewhere close to Perth, so chose Bali. We are very fussy about our accommodation and I trawled through many villa listings, sending a few inquiries to the owners of the 'short list', and finally decided on Villa Firdaus. I'm still patting myself on the back! This villa is fantastic and exceeded all our needs/wants/must haves.
The villa - a haven of peace, comfort and coolness. Extremely clean, super comfy beds (the main bedroom has a king sized that I struggled to leave it was so comfortable). Well appointed bathrooms which both offer the choice of indoor or outdoor showers (try the outdoor one, it's fun) and a good sized bathtub in the main ensuite. Airconditioning in both bedrooms ( a must for our stay, even the locals said it was hot!), fans in all other areas. All the gear you need, our most appreciated ones were the unlimited supply of bottled water, at the press of a button you could have room temperature or icy cold, a hairdryer, kettle, toaster, good fridge/freezer, stacks of books, magazines and local travel info, stylish and comfortable furniture, good quality white ben linens and towels. But the jewel in the crown was the pool. Larger than I expected, crystal clear and absolute heaven! Many G&Ts; consumed in there! Raka, the housekeeper, will come almost every day to clean, a young man comes 3 times a week to clean and service the pool and surrounding tropical gardens. Made, the driver, picks you up from the airport in a late model, airconditioned car, this is included in the villa rental. He will take you for half day or day tours at a negotiated price. We paid a bit over the odds at au45 for a 4 hour trip but Made is so engaging and informative, it was worth it. You can also book Made for your trip back to the airport, around au10. I'm sure I've missed lots of other wonderful things in the villa, you'll have to discover them for yourself :-) Finally, and for me very importantly, Nick, who owns the villa, went out of his way to make sure we would enjoy our stay. As well as tons of info about the villa itself, Nick gave us heaps of tips about where to eat and drink, the best places to get your currency changed, and other info geared towards our own ideas of the perfect holiday. He also most generously gave us a very late checkout at no additional charge as the villa didn't have a back to back booking. We were lucky enough to meet Nick on our last day and spent a very enjoyable half hour with him talking about the history of the villa and its renovation, as well as some very interesting information about Bali itself. Nick is a lovely man and if you choose to stay in his villa you will be well looked after in stylish, comfortable surroundings, while also having the freedom to do your own thing (like to swim in the buff? No problem! :-))
Location - the villa is located in a quiet gang (laneway) off Seminyak's Jalan Laksmana, or 'Eat Street'. Within 5 mintutes walk (really!) to several wonderful restaurants - we followed Nick's recommendations and had a great experience at each one. Our favourite was Ultimo, think of a tropical garden lit by flickering candles on the tables, open to the sky but with a retractable roof for wet weather Live music every night, we were treated to a gorgeous girl singing blues/jazz one night, and a tenor singing Italian classics the next! Attentive yet unobtrusive service the equal of any we've experienced anywhere. And the food! The mainstay is quality Italian dishes, but with plenty of choices for all tastes. Try the 4 course set menu with a glass of red/white house wine - you'll be amazed at the quality of the dishes. I was a bit sus about the wine but was presented with a large, frosty wine glass with a very generous serve of icy cold white wine that I swear was either my favourite summer white, Amberly Chenin Blanc, or its twin. All this for around au15 per person (plus 15% tax). Large bottles of the local brew, Bintang beer, are ceremoniously placed in a stainless steel ice bucket by your table, complete with white linen napkin for your waiter to pour! It goes down so well in the tropical heat, and when you've finished your first beer mug it's whisked away before you realise it, and replaced with a fresh, frosty one. Well worth a tipple at around aU3 per bottle which will more than fill 2 beer mugs. We loved the experience so much that we returned twice more to munch our way through the a la carte menu. As well as the open air garden, you can choose to dine in the silk canoped airconditioned dining room, or on the front veranda to watch the street life. Be prepared to wait a little if you arrive unannounced, but if you book (just pop in on your way past to do this) you will find you get a fantasic table. Bali Cafe, Rumours and the Bistro were also very good - a great meal and drinks at all were around au60 for 2. The most we paid for a night out was a bit of a 'blow out' at Ultimo - 3 a la carte courses each, several Bintangs, a cocktail each and finished with 2 Irish coffees each. Around au100, including tax and a tip. Plenty of good, cheaper places as well - try the cafes in Seminyak Square, I had the best nasi goreng ever for aU3. Lots of higher end shops on Jalan Laksmana also, and a 15 minute walk (or a quick taxi ride) takes you to the beach, where you'll find comfortable shaded loungers to while away an hour or 3. These are offered by very amiable locals at a negotiated price - I was very happy to pay $5 for a couple of hours for side by side loungers but you could get it cheaper if you think it's worth your time bargaining.
There are hawkers on the beach offering sarongs, fruit etc but if you're not interested it only requires a polite 'no thank you' - forget the hassle you get in Kuta, Seminyak is far more laid back. The only thing we were offered (often!) down Jalan Laksmana was "Viagra, Boss?" to my husband - we just laughed and the young salesmen laughed along with us - again, no hard sell or hassles. Traffic is heavy around the Seminyak/Legian/Kuta area, but airconditioned taxis are cheap, with a half hour trip to Kuta around aU4. Bluebird taxis are recommended but don't be afraid to hop into a 'Bali Taxi' - the driver may not turn the meter on but a polite request to do so will be accommodated with a smile. All the taxi drivers we had were super friendly and genuinely interested in hearing about where we lived, and sharing stories about their own lives, homes, families etc. A tip for new travellers to Bali - politeness goes a long way. Even if you feel like yelling 'no!' when you're offered your 200th massage, 'no thanks' will suffice. Wages are extremely poor by Western standards and I was always happy to give a few dollars extra as a tip. You will be rewarded with a genuine smile and a good feeling. Rice, the staple food of Balinese families, is around aU1 per kilo. Put into the perspective of the au100 monthly wage of a lady who worked 9 hours a day, 6 days a week, in the very hot back kitchen of a 'warung' (local eatery) and you can see how much difference a tip can make.
Nick, thank you so much. Staying in your fantastic villa made our holiday perfect. You're a great guy and we hope you get more business that you can handle. But save a week or two for us! With best regards, Beth and Bill xx

I thank you for including your thoughts and feelings about the Balinese people, and for how to have a real Bali holiday in a prospective way. We recently returned to Villa Firdaus after a great stay earlier this year. This villa just keeps on getting better every time we stay here. It lends itself to pure relaxation. We would spend our afternoons lazing in the private pool watching Dvd's and listening to music. Dinner was never far away with JL Laksmana offering a plethora of options. With amenities including free WiFi, full size fridge and washing machine, all our needs were fulfilled. I surely hope this place isn't booked out next time we go to Bali!

I would like to recommend Firdaus 100X but am concerned it will increase demand and it won't be available next time we go to Seminyak! It's a fabulous place - we thoroughly enjoyed the villa which is a great design and very well appointed. The indoor/outdoor living and pool was fabulous although may be challenging if you have young children. Free wifi also much appreciated. The location is very central but with a village atmosphere complete with neighbourhood chooks and other friendly pets. All eateries were great with morning coffee up the road at anomali a great way to to start the day.

I found this villa to be very clean & well set out as it has just been Reno'd with all modern fixtures. The pool was good to have after a lone day shopping or seeing the sights, for a refreshing dip before going out at night. Everything thing you need is just at the end of the ally on the main street, Money exchange, scooter rental, supermarket, clothing stores, bar & restaurants. The location is very quiet, being set back from the street, there is no road or bar noise (very peaceful) and not far from the main beach's. Well worth the stay, I have already booked again for next year. Enjoy.

Great location right in the heart of Seminyak's Jalan Oberoi. 2 mins walk to shops/restaurants and about 8 mins to Kudeta Beach. You walk approx 50m down a side lane/gang and there is the villa. It was surprisingly quiet and the beds and linen are perfect. There are lots of small touches which make your stay comfortable. The owner has renovated it to a high standard and the housekeeper Raka kept it nice and clean. We stayed in the downstairs and although small it is perfect for two couples or like ourselves with two children. (not suitable for children who can't swim as the pool is a main feature). We've stayed in other villas in the area and we will definitely return to this one.

We, three close friends, are from Scottsdale in arizona, USa. We originally planned to go to Vegas, but instead we chose an exotic experience to our first tropical asian country area, Bali. We are all happy that we came to Bali and stayed at Nick's house. Nick's house is freaking awesome, an excellent combination of Western and asian style. Location is superb, and we could easily get access to the beach, downtown and restaurants which Nick is very kind and helpful and offered excellent suggestions for nearby dining. Before our departure, we also had a great chit-chat with Nick, and he wish we had an amazing trip. We did. The rooms are great and very clean. We all love the beds. The decorations are one of the best I saw which are evident that Nick really cares about the comfort, aesthetics, relaxation that his clientele is looking for. This property, indeed, is better than the mega hotels, and is one of the best we've stayed at. We will definitely stay here again.

A Great Place for a Relaxing Holiday

Left on 02/11/2012 for a stay in February 2012

My wife and I stayed at this villa in late Jan/early Feb while celebrating our one year wedding anniversary.

Check in went smoothly and we were immediately taken in by how luxurious and clean the villa was. We spent most of our week in Bali relaxing in the villa, taking advantage of the pool and kitchen facilities (we especially loved the full size fridge which accommodated our food and beverage needs). The TVs and DVD players came in handy whether we wanted to watch a movie while in the pool or late at night in bed.

The design and the decor of the villa was great. My wife especially loved the outdoor shower which was located inside the main bathroom and the waterfall which was near the pool.

We found the villa to be in an amazing location. It was close to multiple restaurants serving a vast variety of food. Every night we ate at a different place, never finding the need to venture any further than this street.

All in all it was a great relaxing holiday. Villa Firdaus was great value and I would definitely recommend it to friends.

Great Villa, Private & Close to Restourant, Beach & Shops

Left on 01/17/2012 for a stay in December 2011

I was stay here couple days with my lover. This villa is absolutely fantastic beautifully furnished and offered everything I need, also close to excellent restaurants (International and local food), spas, shops, clinic (just in case you get sick), beach and the wonderful beach club Potato Head .
rooms quite large, beds really comfortable and most importantly for me is very clean.
Bathrooms were great, clean, large, and I love the Idea shower under the sun.
Pool was nice had a ledge inside to sit and relax in.
I love it and for sure will back again someday.

A lovely villa in a great location

Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in January 2012

I recently stayed at this villa with my mum and grandma (who has limited mobility) and found it to suit all our needs. It was very comfortable, modern and extremely clean. The staff were welcoming, friendly and were only a text or phone call away. My favourite things were the pool, wifi and ipod dock!!!

Cant beat the location. A minutes walk to Eat Street satisfied our dining requirements nightly and the shops on the same street were amazing! Most morning we would walk to La Lucciola for breakfast which was just a stroll away.

The downside of staying here was knowing that I had to return home!!

I've already booked the villa again for May!! Cant wait to return!!
