Our stay in Villa Jesse was interesting to say the least - multiple emails each day attempting to sort out issues does not make for a relaxing holiday...
First things first, do not pay the full amount until you arrive. As soon as we paid the second deposit (and final payment) before we arrived, the owner Michael could not be less interested.
Basically we had to spend the week dealing with a rude and arrogant Villa owner, a nonexistent Villa manager, Staff (well we assumed staff, otherwise they could have just been people living in the area) letting themselves into the villa and wondering in and out as they pleased, power outages, blocked drains, raw sewage in the bathrooms, our cloths going missing from the bedroom floor and only turning up when we asked about them a few days later...
On arrival, after letting Michael (the villa owner) know on multiple occasions that we would be arriving at midday, the Villa was not ready. Michael was running out the gate as we arrived, we had to introduce ourselves to him which he was not interested in at all... he then yelled out the password to the WiFi as he ran out the gate (we were then told a completely different password by the villa staff).
After going for a walk for an hour we came back to find the cleaning staff gone, the pool dirty, tissues and rubbish around the pool chairs and one of the toilets blocked.
We then emailed Michael re the blocked toilets and were told it might be fixed the next day and we would have to rely on the toilet in the second bedrooms bathroom. We then discovered the second toilet was also blocked and emailed the owner once again... this resulted in no access to toilets in the Villa for pretty much all of the first day.
When we woke up on the second day, we found the toilets were not sealed and there was sewage around the toilet and across the floor in the first bathroom and sewage coming up the shower drain in the second bathroom when we attempted to shower. We once again asked the owner to come and supervise and explain to us when the issues would be resolved, we were told this was not possible.
Another email to Michael... finally after multiple emails and hours of frustration the workers turned up. The emails and frustration went on for the whole eight days.
The staff would also wonder in and out, doing their own personal washing in a little room next to the villa and just generally hanging out there.
One day the villa didn’t get cleaned or bins removed, another email. Our recycling was not taken away until the last day. The pool filter kept failing leaving the pool dirty. When the power failed and we asked when it would be back on the only response we got was ‘this is Bali...maybe tomorrow, maybe not...’
Finally we asked for compensation or a refund for part of our stay as we were there 8 nights – Michael then organised a driver for us and said he would sort out payment... when we returned to the Villa after a day with the driver, the driver knew nothing about this and we had to pay upfront. When we requested the money off Michael he said he would drop it in right away... two hours later and a wasted afternoon, no sign of him. Finally one of his staff dropped it by, he still wouldn’t show his face.
The Villa is in a great location and could be really nice – it was so upsetting that our week was ruined. -

Our stay at Villa Jesse was fantastic. The staff Dina and anna were very helpful and wonderful cooks. The villa was clean and beautifully presented just as in the photos. The location was ideal and we walked to all the great shopping and great selection of restaurants just outside our door. We loved the villa and are definitely coming back.

We usually stay in villa jesse when our house is rented here,as it is a great house, easy to be in,the rooms are spacious, the living room well designed, the maid knows her job and does it fast so she gives us privacy.the house is set on in a quiet alley from Oberoi st, it's walking distance to the restaurants, the beach as the worst nightmare in Bali is actually the traffic,the kids love it and love the pool! We will of course come back .
