We have stayed twice at the Purple Haze farmhouse and will definitely be back! The house is well stocked and super clean. It's the perfect size for a group or a couple. The furnishings are comfortable and stylish. We love the lavender products throughout the home! And we always enjoy walking around the farm and sitting on the huge covered porch to take in the gorgeous sunsets!! Make sure to stop by the gift shop at the farm or in town for some amazing products to take home with you.

Orlando FLRelaxing, convenient, and comfortable
Left on 08/11/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We spent 2 nights at Purple Haze as part of our family vacation. Our son and daughter-in-law joined us on this visit to the Pacific Northwest.
The house was clean and comfortable. House would be perfect to 6 adults. There is no central a/C, but clearly that is not needed in Sequim. Since we traveled from Dallas and Orlando, we enjoyed the cool mornings and evenings.
I loved the front porch with a swing and glider. All 4 of us enjoyed roaming the grounds and especially enjoyed the chickens and peacocks!
We took advantage of the grill and cooked at the house both nights, using fresh herbs from the garden. We found the TV room cozy and found ourselves watching the 2012 Olympics having spent the day on the Olympic peninsula. Great family time.
We spent the days visiting the local sites, so I do not know how I would have felt if I had been at the house during the day when the farm is filled with customers. Seems to me that folks who visit lavendar farms are polite and considerate.
There is a paved bike/jogging trail nearby, and it runs many miles back to Port Townsend. So, if you have a jogger or biker in your group this is a huge bonus.
If you are visiting the Olympic National Park, this house would make a great base!

My friends and I really enjoyed our stay at the lavender farm. The setting is beautiful. A perfect place for friend to gather for a weekend and relax. The friendly customer service and email ahead of time makes the checkin/checkout process a breeze. This was our second time at the house and we planning on returning again next year. The one thing we missed in our second vist was seating on the porch. Please bring back the rope swing chair.

Purple Haze was a wonderful home-away-from-home for our group of 8, which included a grandmother, her two grown children with their spouses, and 3 grandchildren between the ages of 3 and 15.
We really made use of the house: slept in every bed, cooked most meals, ran laundry, used the hot tub daily, watched TV, walked around the grounds, etc. Each day we'd go off on some outing--hiking, kayaking, tidepooling, etc.--and then come back to this big, wonderful house in the middle of a lavender field. It was a great, restful place to return to.
One thing I particularly appreciated was that it was attractive without feeling fussy. It was completely ok to be there with kids (all of them boys!).
The sleeping arrangements weren't exactly ideal for our group make-up, and that's something people should consider. Because it's a 3-bedroom house with a queen or king in each bedroom, the house is probably most ideal for 3 couples. We ended up with one couple downstairs on a futon couch that, by week's end, made for some really stiff middle-aged backs, and two of the three kids on blow-up twin mattresses that we brought with us. It worked out, but required a little finagling.
The people at the on-site store were incredibly warm and helpful about directions, restaurant recommendations, etc. (And although it's nearby, we felt totally private.) One day our Internet service went out, & it was promptly attended to. The only actual complaint I'd have is about the condition of the dishes & utensils when we arrived: they were just not clean. Probably the fault of the previous renters, but housekeeping should have checked. We had to wash everything before we used it -- a lot of it just felt greasy, as if it had been carelessly washed, but a few other pieces had obviously been put away unwashed. It made for a not-very-fun first cooking experience after a very long drive.
Other than that, the place was fabulous. I'd go there again in a heartbeat. -

Eight people spanning three generations spent one wonderful week at Purple Haze to celebrate a 70th birthday. The house was comfortable, nicely appointed, and well-located. The staff were warm and helpful. It's a very kid-friendly place: the children in our group ranged in age from 3 to 15, and between feeding the chickens, running around on the property, hanging out in the hot tub, or watching soccer on the big-screen TV, it worked for all of them. We did most of our own cooking and managed quite well in the spacious kitchen. It was a terrific place to come home to each afternoon or evening after enjoying the amazing offerings of the Olympic Peninsula. It felt very homey and private.
Just a few quibbles: The kitchen dishes & utensils weren't as clean as they should have been when we arrived. No doubt the fault of the previous renters, but housekeeping needs to check a bit more thoroughly. Also think the cooking utensils could use a bit of updating. Otherwise the place was very clean. Purple Haze quite reasonably charges extra if you have over 6 guests, and I'd say it's really more ideal for parties of 6 or fewer. It worked for our group of 8, but it was a teeny bit crowded and necessitated 1 couple sleeping on a futon couch all week (a bit tough on middle-aged backs).
Some tips: Great for all ages: Ft. Worden State Park in Port Townsend for playing on the beach & a small but lovely marine center. Also worthwhile: the drive up to Hurricane Ridge & exploring the Dungeness Spit. For light hiking through gorgeous woods, the walk to Marymere Falls from Lake Crescent. For older kids, kayaking with adventures through Kayaking out of Port angeles. (We did a 2-hr guided kayaking tour of Lake Crescent in the Park; they have longer & marine tours too.) For a nice dinner, Alder Wood Bistro in downtown Sequim is a winner. If they have the Catalan Stew on the menu, get it. Finally, don't leave without checking out the Purple Haze store on the property: it's a great place to pick up little gifts for friends back home. And check out the Lavender Lemon Custard ice cream -- unusual & surprisingly yummy.
Overall, it was a memorable family vacation in a magical spot. Thanks, Purple Haze! -

I stayed at the Purple Haze Farmhouse with 5 long time friends. The house was comfortable and just the right size for our group of 6. We relaxed in the hot tub and enjoyed using the BBQ, but the very best part was the setting. We felt like we were living in a Monet painting. The view of the lavender field, interspersed with poppies in full bloom, was absolutely perfect. There were lots of lovely details..like the little veggie garden and the herb garden in the back yard. We enjoyed fresh eggs from the fat and happy chickens and got some great close up pictures of the resident peacocks, Bob and Shirley. We took turns cooking most of our meals in because the house was well equipped, but we also enjoyed a nice dinner out in Sequim one night and a fun time drinking, dancing, and gambling at the local casino. We took in a farmers market on Saturday morning and visited a local winery. All of us agreed that it is a lovely and relaxing place--almost as good as a trip to France!

Redmond, WALovely Sequim Weekend!
Left on 08/10/2011 for a stay in July 2011
My wife, son, daughter-in-law, and new grandson spent two nights at Purple Haze and had a great time. Everything was clean and the 5 of us had more room than we knew what to do with. The chickens and peacocks were fun to feed our leftovers and seemed to appreciate the attention.
One morning one of the owners came by and gave us fresh checken eggs which we used for our breakfast...which was an unexpected surprise.
Although it was the 4th of July weekend it was quiet and we took fantasic photos of my grandson flying (with a little help from his dad) through the lavender.
The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was huge and had a nice island so we could all work together on the meals. Sequim is close to many different places to enjoy the Olympic Peninsula and we took advantage of that fact.
Great place to get away from it all and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in August 2011
We tried to enjoy a weekend stay at the lavender farm with our family friends. We had only been there one hour (we were not greeted in anyway), when the owner ran up to us screaming on the patio that our children were "out of control and ruined his orchard". The so called ruined orchard was because the children picked apples and fed them to the chickens (feeding the birds was encouraged in the welcome letter) and there were no signs stating that fruit was not to be picked (most apples were picked up from the ground). This outburst in front of the children caused two of them to cry and the other two to be afraid to do anything because "that man might come back and yell". We were all upset because he continued berating us in front of the children instead of asking to speak to one of the adults privately about the issue. We were insulted and felt very unwelcome. The children were made to feel uncomfortable. We expected to be treated better especially with the cost of a nightly stay. The house is outdated and the kitchen did not include the complimentary coffee or tea as stated on the website. The kitchen was not organized and it was difficult to find items and the table linens had not been washed from a previous visit. I am usually not this harsh, but if you are bringing children to this farm, I would highly recommend you think twice about it.

Over the years, Purple Haze has welcomed many families with children to stay in our home and NEVER have we had an incident like this. Children love to run through the rows of lavender and enjoy watching the chickens and peacocks and we are more than happy to share our farm with them. Unfortunately, this group of young children in the first hour of their arrival were not “just feeding the chickens”. Not only did they pick our unripe apples from the trees in the orchard-they proceeded to throw them at the each other, at our chicken/peacock pen and then actually opened the chicken pen and threw them at the chickens. We retrieved ¾ of a 5 gallon bucket full of apples that they thrown in the pen at the animals. After receiving complaints about the children and their behavior in the orchard, the owner of the farm and his wife were admittedly upset (as not only do we have chickens & peacocks, but baby peachicks in this pen) and advised the parents of the children that they needed to be supervised, by an adult. Purple Haze is a public/working lavender farm and not only were the children at risk of being hurt by not being supervised they were also damaging property and ruining the other visitors experience. Fortunately it appears the chickens are none the worse for wear and we are chocking this up to an isolated incident, and will in the future continue to happily welcome families with children to our home and farm.

I wasn't going to review Purple Haze because I didn't feel I have a lot of pleasant things to say, but I keep getting emails to do so. So here goes, I got married at the farm. Pros - It was a beautiful location to get married at and we have had a lot of compliments about our choice of venue. It was a near perfect place for pictures being in that they kept the fields and landscaping very nice. It was nice to be on location to get ready before the ceremony and be inside and comfortable while the guests were arriving. The house is tastefully appointed with a lot of ammenities (TV, Stereo, nice big kitchen, comfortable furniture, etc). Cons - In order to use the nicer of the two lawns you have to rent the house. To rent the house there is a minimun of a two night stay. There is quite a large damage deposit for the house and a seperate damage deposit for the lawn. They don't simply hold a credit card number incase damages occur they actually charge you the full damage deposit. I was unaware that this was going to happen - so make sure you understand the contract so you don't get freaked when all of a sudden $900 is missing from your account. They also charged me for the house rental, lawn rental and both damage deposits in full before we had a signed contract. I had given a deposit check to hold the property before we had a contract but I was surprised that the rest of the charges went through before we had a contract.
The place looks amazing - if you don't look too close. There were spider webs and dust in a lot of the windows and behind furniture (I dropped my cell charger behind a bedside table and had to reach through cobwebs to get it and a spider visited me in the shower from his home in the skylight above the shower).
If you have a group that is splitting the cost for the house it would be better - it is a little much for just two people.
It is a nice house in a nice location though.Response from Purple Haze Lavender Farmhouse Vacation Rental - 08/08/2011

Purple Haze is a working lavender farm and unfortunately when you live in the trees and amongst fields as we do....spiders are a part of everyday life and occasionally they try to make their home in our home! Apparently we missed evicting that one-we are sorry that he scared you! We will address the dust issue with our housekeeper. Our house rental policy is clearly stated when you book your stay and you must click a button that you agree to the terms before you can book your stay. The house rental and the wedding rental are seperate bookings (this may be where the confusion was incurred) and the damage deposit was charged at the time of booking to hold the wedding rental area of the property and the actual rental fee for the wedding area was not charged until after the contract was signed and received by us. We are glad you enjoyed the location for wedding day and we wish you much happiness in the years to come!

We stayed at Purple Haze as a base for visiting Olympic National Park. The nearest entrance to the park is about 25 minutes away in Port angeles. It was very convenient to this area - a little less convenient to the coastal region and the rain forest section, but manageable. The area is beautiful, from the National Park to the Dungeness Spit Park to the towering trees and beautiful mountains and lakes. It was great to do a day of sightseeing and then come back to such a comfortable house and amazing grounds. The kids loved running through the lavender fields which were in full bloom and then before dinner soaking in the hot tub and visiting with the chickens. We also discovered berries growing in the garden which were a delicious snack.
The house itself was perfect for us - a family of five. There were definitely enough space and the washing machine was a plus. Everything was very clean and there were more than enough towels and kitchen utensils and plates. If there is any negative comment, I'd say the master bed mattress is a little soft and sags a bit, but maybe I just like my mattresses a bit more firm. Otherwise everything was perfect. We would definitely stay at Purple Haze again and would recommend the house to our friends. Thanks for a wonderful stay! -

We stayed at the farm house during mine and my husband's July 2010 wedding. Our first night there, we had a big barbeque with our families in the beautiful, large backyard. We even set up a badminton net! After the celebration calmed down, my bridesmaids and I slept at the house. It was a great evening. We used the provided bathrobes and headed out to the hot tub where we had a relaxing evening under the stars the night before my wedding. For our second night, my husband and I used the home as the first stop on our way out of town for our honeymoon. Again, it was perfect ... Nice linens, a great hot tub, gorgeously decorated rooms, and plenty of space!

Although situated in an area of recent subdivision activity that is not too inspiring when you first arrive, the house and gift shop grounds are amazing, and the dense trees around the guest house give it a rural feel. The house is beautifully decorated to a tasteful extent, and the surrounding lavender fields and gardens are amazing. Abundant herbs, produce, etc., surround you and you are free to use any of it in the modern kitchen. We really found this the perfect place to relax, being two families both traveling with infants. I would love to return for a week at some point in the future.

We were there for a two nights' stay. The house was great, it got everything we need. We stayed in many different houses for vavation, this one by far got the most things in it. For example, it has laundry detergent, shampoo, soaps, cooking stuff (even pancake mix), games, books, Dvds, excellent TV stations and more...
The lavender field after hours is all ours, we wondered in it freely--it's just great!!
Highly recommend this property to people to stay here, not only for the lavender but also for the Olympic National Park. Sequim has everything we need, it even got a Costco! -

Our family stayed for a week in August 2009 and had a wonderful time. There was plenty of space of 6 adults and 2 toddlers. The house and grounds were gorgeous and we felt at home immediately. We enjoyed eating out on the back porch and took advantage of the hot tub. In the front of the house, the swing, garden, and views from the front porch made this a favorite hangout.
There was so much to do in the area. Everyone found plenty to do and having such a nice place to come "home"to made it very relaxing.

I found the Purple Haze Lavender Farmhouse online and was just a little reluctant to book without seeing it first, but we could not be happier with what we found there. The house was roomy and comfortable with many nice touches such as the bathrobes and the surrounding gardens. It has such a pretty setting with all the flowers in bloom. We enjoyed the fresh produce from the vegetable garden and loved picking and eating the cherries from the orchard. The yard was perfect for volleyball ( we brought a net), and other fun family games. The hot tub was in constant use by the kids and the deck and front porch were lovely places to sit and relax. The beds were comfy and the kids (six of them) were perfectly happy making their beds on the living room floor together. The house is so convenient to the main road yet feels like you are secluded and far away from crowds and traffic. The grocery store is close and convenient. We enjoyed being close to the beautiful Dungeness Spit to enjoy it's beauty. We were able to have a wonderful, memorable family reunion at the Purple Haze Lavender Farmhouse.

Left on 07/21/2009 for a stay in June 2009
Selfishly, I'd like to keep this place a secret. Our stay at Purple Haze couldn't have been better. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the owner and given some fabulous recommendations for the area. Beyond the friendly welcome, the lavender farm was absolutely breathtaking. We were there in late June/early July & the weather was fabulous (warm). The flowers, the trees, the garden, the house were all unbelievable. Our 7 year old daughter & 3 year old son were so excited when we first arrived, as we turned onto the gravel road leading to the farm house they got out of the car and ran, through the lavender. That initial thrill never subsided--for any of us. There was plenty to do in and around Sequim, which is absolutely beautiful, but honestly, we could have just hung out around the farm house and been perfectly content. The fact, that our kids (who are quite active & always looking for something to do), were so happy on the farm exploring, picking and eating the plentiful amounts of tree/plant-ripened fruit & vegetables, made it all the better. Inside, the house was beautiful & very comfortable for the five of us staying there. It was well stocked with basic-needs items (except food) as well as several lovely personal touches, including fresh cut wild flower arrangements & wonderful Purple Haze lavender products. When it came time to leave, we were sad to go. We wished for more time there. This was a place that even my husband seemed to find extraordinarily relaxing. I?d call it, good for the soul. I found myself perfectly content, roaming & taking photos. Grandma enjoyed it, the kids were happy & we were all surprised by how much we city people loved it. If you?re looking for city life excitement, this isn?t your place, but if you enjoy nature & the beauty it offers?and slowing down a bit, I can?t imagine ever being disappointed here. A very gracious thank you to owners Mike & Roslind Reichner. We hope to see you again in the near future!

I took my parents to Purple Haze for a birthday/Father's Day weekend, and we had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful, and--thanks to the lavender--smell wonderful, too!
The location is quite close to everything in Sequim, so a quick run to the grocery store was no problem when we wanted to eat in. Restaurants were equally close by when we wanted to go out. Despite being so close to everything, the surroundings are very quiet and peaceful.
During the day, the farm's gift shop is open (everyone we talked to there was very friendly and helpful), and people come by to visit the farm and admire the grounds. But in the evening it's all yours to enjoy! -
