Nice stay - Villa 19 badly needs update by decorator

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We had a very nice vacation staying at avalon, individually owned condos. It is on the beach in a great location. The beach is a swimming beach and a beautiful section of Seven mile Beach.

The staff is wonderful. Sweet and will help in any way they can to make your stay pleasant and comfortable.

Although the villa has an open floor plan, three bedrooms and three baths (two en suite) unit 19 it is very dated and in need of a cosmetic gut renovation. The furniture consists of large oversized painted pieces. Feels cluttered and crowded. Very (too) small flat screen TVs sit deep inside 24 inch deep cabinets built during the era of CRT tube TVs. Floor mats everywhere. A square end table randomly in the walkway between livng room/kitchen with no purpose. clutterd feel. Fake plastic plants everywhere! Old bedding with ruffled shams and unironed colored sheets. Felt like staying at someone's else's grandma's house. The open plan is very nice and the kitchen is in good condition but has a noisy 1990's dishwasher, problems with the open layout. The kitchen counter tops are dated solid surface type from the 1990's with the large rounded edge. Other units were updated to granite and stone. Hopefully this owner will get some help with decorating the place.

I was also a little disappointed that I was switched to villa 19 upon arrival. Originally I was promised the villa on the end and was shown photos of a nice updated unit. Upon our arrival someone else was given our villa and we were moved to the dated villa in the middle of the complex. End units are much better because you get light and air from the all the windows. In the middle units the side windows and blinds had to be kept closed at all times for privacy. Buildings are pretty close together.

I would definitely stay at avalon again providing I am guaranteed a particular villa up front. At the cost of peak season rates we expected a nicer newer nicely decorated villa.

      Avalon #19 Delivered

Left on 03/06/2013 for a stay in February 2013

We had a perfect vacation at the avalon Unit #19. The location was perfectly located near a grocery store and just a short, easy drive to George Town. The beach was absolutely perfect and it felt as if we had our own private beach to ourselves. If you like white sandy beaches and the sound of birds chirping and ocean waves crashing on the shore, this is your place. The condo was well decorated and the daily maid service had a hotel feel to it. We will definitely book this condo again. I regret writing this review because I'd selfishly like the avalon to remain a hidden gem.

      A wonderful week!

Left on 04/12/2012 for a stay in March 2012

We were on the second floor an end unit, and loved it. The service was excellent, the maids cleaned at our convenience and the whole complexis well maintained. It is a perfect location on that glorious beach and although there are lines of hotels and condos, we never felt at all crowded. We really liked the island. It is clean, the locals are friendly and the food in the restaurants is fabulous.

We arrived on Thursday 4/15 and spent the next 10 days in the most peaceful place on earth!

If you need a three bedroom condominium in Grand Cayman, the Avalon is the place to stay on Seven Mile Beach. The grounds are immaculate and the condo was perfect. We lacked for nothing during our stay. The management personnel are very helpful, particularly Wakelyn the Manager.

The Avalon IS the best property on Seven Mile Beach

Left on 09/19/2009 for a stay in February 2008

We have been at the Avalon every February since it opened - I think we may have missed the first year but make it 12 years more or less. We have stayed in #19 many times. That unit is on the end, away from the pool and hot tub, next to what some may think of as an extremely valuable vacant lot, but which is, for the visitor, a private jungle. It is quiet and private but probably due for a decor update. The majority of the Avalon's 27 units are NOT in the rental pool, and many of those that are are booked by the same families at the same time every year. The Avalon is first class from the front office to the laundry room, from the resident manager (Wakelyn) to the Maintenance Team (that would be Fred), from the tennis court to the gym, and is perfectly located. The units are spacious and perfectly laid out by Grand Cayman's condo guru Brian Butler. The owners, many of whom are in and out, are gracious, friendly and attentive. If you want to feel like you are in you own luxury condo on a private beach plopped down on Michigan Avenue (in high summer, of course), the Avalon is the place for you. If you are a bargain hunter or looking to raise hell, try somewhere else.

      Relaxing, private and very enjoyable

Left on 07/14/2009 for a stay in January 2008

Condo was very clean and the facilities were user friendly. It was nice to have the option to just stay home and cook a meal while watching the sun go down off the balcony The beach and pool facilities were clean and very private compaired to the hotel beaches. We would love to return someday soon.

I do believe you raised your prices to the point that it will cause famlies to reconsider returning. Other than that it was great!
