      Great Cabin, horrible experience!!!

Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We booked with Eden Crest to have our wedding in this cabin. Upon driving to the cabin we were unable to get in and had to drive back to town to get cell phone service to get the correct code, was left on hold for 12 min. The cabin was very nice and was better than we expected from the pictures. The next day was a totally different story. I was told that the assistant would be there 90 min before our ceremony time. They showed up 6 min before. Most of our pictures were done before and without flowers. The flowers that were brought were not the flowers ordered and my photographer had to break down the bouquet and make it more presentable. There were about 5 roses in my bridesmaids bouquet I paid an extra $63 for. We paid almost $1300 for crappy flowers and poor service. The minister had trouble breathing and could barely make it to the ceremony site. He mispronounced our names the entire ceremony. We brought our own photographer and still had to pay for the other. During our reception dinner the cabin was robbed and a TV, beer, and my purse was stolen. A police report was made and Eden Crest contacted. They were unapologetic and were not sympathetic to us at all. We had to rent a hotel room because our son was so scared to stay at the cabin after the break in. Two couples in our party left early to drive home to Kentucky because they did not want to stay. Upon checking out and coming home I received a phone call from Jessica the manager at Eden Crest saying that my card was declined and they were trying to charge us for the stolen TV!!! Luckily my purse was stolen and the card cancelled so they were unable to charge us, otherwise we would have been out $800!!! My purse and it's contents were worth more than that!! This is an experience I will have to remember my whole life. That my wedding weekend was a nightmare that ended with the rental company trying to screw us out of more money. If anything we deserve a refund!!!

      Incredible!

Left on 03/27/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My co-workers and I attended a conference in Pigeon Forge. We didn't want to be seperated by the walls of hotel rooms so we decided to stay in a place where we could all be together. We found the Black Bear Hideaway and it was truly a dream come true! This place has everything you would ever need and then some! It was perfect for the 8 of us and our heads were spinning, thinking of returning with our families and even extended families! We enjoyed cooking and eating together, the hot tub and watching the big basketball game on the wide screen TV complete with surround sound in the theater room. This place was extremely clean. It was fun staying in this incredible cabin! It says this place sleeps 14 but with all the open floor available, lots of sleeping bags could be used! Three full floors of fun! Since there are three levels, this place would not be great for older folks.

Beautiful cabin in serious need of maintenance

Left on 09/14/2011 for a stay in September 2011

We rented the Black Bear as a family reunion place for the 5 of us kids (all 40 years old and over) and our spouses. No kids allowed. The place was beautiful. However, the 3 waterfalls described in the ad did not work. The fireplace was not functional and I was told by teh rental office that they manually disable them so people dont run them while the aC is running. We were all on motorcycles and a nice fire at night would have helped to take the chill off. The jacuzzi on the porch was nice but the water level was really low and there was no way of filling it, no hose avaialable or any spicket so we were not able to use that either. The pool table was a nice feature but the slate was broken and caused the balls to jump when it went over the large crack. There were just a lot of other small things broken as well and it would not have taken much to fix them. I feel that the rental rate is well worth the accomodation only if the offered ammenities are working properly.

      Manager

First of all we want to thank you for choosing to stay with Eden Crest in this beautiful cabin. It is located in a pristine setting and the cabin itself is exceptionally appointed. The 3 waterfalls you are referring to are in the front of the property and the owner has elected not to run them however there are two waterfalls as you come in the front door that are running providing you with the wonderful sound of running water as you enter the property. The waterfalls in the front of the property are so far removed from the house that you would not have enjoyed them but the owner understands how much the two by the front door could be enjoyed and as such they were chosen to be left running. Fireplaces are seasonal and our temperatures here remain in the 90 degree range even into October. We apologize for the fireplace not being operational but it was made available in October once we began to see temperatures begin to come down. The pool table slate has been replaced so the issue with the balls not rolling correctly has been resolved. This ia a wonderful home and we value you as a returning guest. Thank you for making the pool table slate issue known so we could promptly deal with it.

The fountain at the entrance to the front door does work and is a wonderful entry amenity preparing you for the wonderful experience this home offers. I apologize for the trash but there was a bear who decided to visit the area and the trash was a result of his foraging for food. We responded immediately to this problem and the trash was cleared. The carpet has been replaced (not just cleaned but the owner replaced all of it) and we believe you will find this home to be in great shape for your next visit with Eden Crest.

Black Bear Hideaway was just right for our extended family. The layout of the home allowed our large group to have their own space while the facilities away from the cabin (e.g. swimming pool, lake, picnic area) gave us hours of fun.

Left on 06/24/2011 for a stay in June 2011

Blackbear Hideaway is one of the nicest places I have stayed. There was lots of room and it offered many amenities. It was clean and comfortable. The service was great. There were a few things that needed to be working including the waterfeature pond and waterfall. We were a bit disappointed that they were not working, but over all a good place to vacation. I would stay there again. They forget to mention on their add about the flowing stream down below. The catch and release pond was great. We caught several catfish and several blue gills. We had a wonderful time with family!

Beautiful, peaceful, yet fun place for our HS senior class trip!

Left on 04/12/2011 for a stay in March 2011

The home was perfect for the various expectations of our small HS senior class... fishing pond, game room, theatre room, comfy porches, open and screened, for "chillaxin," multi levels for guys/girls rooms yet great common areas, too, fireplace in living room on main floor for quiet down-time or reading, and great open kitchen/dining area for enjoying group meals. Our one disappointment - we were at max. occupancy (14) but didn't have nearly enough plates, glasses, mugs, or silverware for the many meals we had while there...Not good! Kitchen should be better stocked to accommodate 14 people.

      What a wonderful Weekend Getaway!

Left on 03/01/2011 for a stay in February 2011

The perfect location for us to spend an awesome weekend together. Our gathering couldn't have been any nicer!
      Cabin - I'd hardly call this a cabin - It's very large, rustic three-stories & beautiful!
Living areas - Spacious, clean, nice d?cor - All the comforts of home. 2 large flat screen TVs w/ comfortable seating. Game room is nice & roomy - Pool table, air hockey table, video arcade machine w/ classic games.
Kitchen - Large & easily accommodates several people cooking & helping at the same time. An extra refrigerator would have been nice - We made do with what was there. Lots of storage space & counter space for food prep.
5 bedrooms - Spacious w/ nice decor. Beds were comfy w/ plenty of pillows & blankets. Each has a TV, phone & huge walk-in closet!
Bathrooms - 3 full & 1 half baths. Barely enough for 12 people - Nobody had to wait in line. Nice to have the half bath on main level.
Decks - Fantastic! Main level - Deck/porch that wraps around the entire house - Part is screened in. Plenty of chairs all around - Lounge chairs, rockers, swing, & hammock. Hot tub on lower level deck.
Extras - Lots of electrical outlets throughout - Great water pressure - Plenty of hot water - Washer & dryer - Free long distance - BBQ
the grounds - Private w/ ample parking. Mature trees everywhere create a feel of being in the mountains when Pigeon Forge is only a few miles away.
Community - Cedar Falls Resort is inviting, well maintained & roads are new & wide - Well marked with street signs.
Eden crest - Friendly & helpful. I mostly used "Chat with a reservationist? on their website & got quick & friendly answers. Office staff was helpful & efficient in getting guests checked in & on their way.
Our experience - We enjoyed coffee on the deck each morning, spent hours playing pool & playing card games at the dinner table. Enjoyed nice long walks around the resort. Enjoyed the sauna & the hot tub, too! We all agree we'll be renting this cabin again!

Other than a few small broken items the stay was wonderful.

Left on 02/17/2011 for a stay in February 2011

We had an excellent time like always. We are a group of friends that went to college together and have been taking this trip to Pigeon Forge/ Gatlinburg for nine years. The cabin was beautiful, although there were a few broken items upon our arrival. The recliner was broken, the gas logs just stoped working, a light in one of the bedrooms didn't work, the temperature setting on the master shower seemed to not work right, and batteries were dead in remotes. I am by no means nit picking cause I understand it's hard to keep up with many small items, but when you pay so much the attention to detail really matters. None of these caused an inconvenience just wanted to make someone aware of the issues. Everyone at Eden Crest has been more than accommodating. We will definatley stay with you all in the future!!

      Good times

Left on 12/09/2010 for a stay in November 2010

I really liked the cabin but we did have a couple of problems. The kitchen was spacious, the house had plenty of room for my entire family which included 7 adults, 3 teenagers and a 1 baby. We did have a couple of complaints. I thought the cabin was a little pricey considering how far it is from town or should I say the main strip in pigeon forge. The microwave wasn't working when we arrived but eden crest had it replaced right away. The stove in the kitchen wasn't good either, it seemed to get hot then cold, then hot, like it couldn't maintain it's temperature. Although the grill is gas (big plus for me) it was in terrible shape and didn't work well. It took me 3 times as long to grill everything and we had bought groceries to grill out 3 nights and I had to switch up the dinner menu because the grill was so bad and small. The down stairs with filled with plenty to do a pool table, arcade game, media room and a air hockey table which we couldn't use because the legs are so rickety I wouldn't let the kids play with it for fear that it might fall of them. We had brought along our wii and played it on the big screen tv and we had a blast. We used the hot tub 1 night but it is so dark around the hot tub area we couldn't see each other or the controls, good thing my dad carries a flashlight. We all loved the decoration in the cabin, it looks just like what I imagined a cabin to look like and all in all we had a good time. We would probably stay there again.

We agree the gas grill was in need of replacement so we have installed a brand new one. The legs on the air hockey table has been repaired as well. it appears some one may have used the table to set on which it was not designed for. But that has been taken care of and you will find this wonderful home to be in the best condition for your next stay with Eden Crest.

Left on 09/23/2010 for a stay in September 2010

The cabin was very nice, but we had some small problems that took away from our experience. Because we only were there 2 nights and with children and teens, we were very much looking forward to the 37 game arcade game. When we arrived it was not working and did not work for the duration of the stay. We let mgmt know as soon as we noticed and maintenance did not arrive until the next day and 3 calls later. He was not able to do anything for us and said that they would need to call the arcade repair folks. We expressed our deep disappointment and were told that mgmt would be notified of our complaint. We have yet to hear from them almost 3 weeks later. Another disappointment was that the fountains were not working as shown on the website. These were the main complaints. We did have a nice time with family and the kids loved the catch and release pond. We just wished that we would have been told of the non-working arcade game and fountains prior to the stay. Again, these were important things to us and were never aknowledged.

I would like to apologize for the arcade game not working. These games are just like anything else they occasionally give us problems. I have found over the years that they do not break very often but on occasion we have one of them will experience a problem. You were here over a weekend and we made every attempt to get someone to the cabin to work on it but the vendor was not available until the following week. I am very sorry for that however this cabin is well equipped with many other fun things to do and the catch and release pond is only one of those alternative activities. The owner of this cabin has chosen not to run the large waterfall but does run the two waterfalls next to the front door. We discovered that one of the waterfalls had a leak which has since been fixed so they are now both running for the enjoyment of the guests staying in the cabin. In an effort to let you know how sorry we are for your issues I will be sending you a letter of apology and a gift certificate good for a discount on a future stay with us. We hope you will once again find your way to this most beautiful part of the world and allow us the opportunity to serve you again.

We found the Black Bear Hideaway to be perfect for three generations of our family. The game room in the basement was a favorite for our little ones and the hot tub was a favorite of their parents. As grandparents, we were delighted to find the cabin to be perfect for all of us and it was a wonderful way to spend quality time with our family. There is a lot of space to spread out so that we weren't all on top of each other. The bedrooms were spacious and beautiful. In fact, our 5-yr.-old grandson put his blow-up mattress in the closet of his parents' room and had his own little space. Now he will be telling everyone we made him sleep in the closet. :) We couldn't have been happier with our choice to stay at the Black Bear Hideaway.

      Surpassed our expectations!

Left on 07/31/2010 for a stay in July 2010

My husband and I have had some negative experience with hotel reservations based on their online photos so we were a bit aprehensive. All of our children were coming with their children! From the moment we opened the hand carved door and walked inside we were estatic! The decor was just as pictured! Everything was in working order, of a very high quality, and impeccably clean. There were abundant towels, dishes, etc. There was plenty of room for all 19 of us (9 adults & 9 little kids) to gather together or have a little bit of space. We used the gazebo for "cousins club" each afternoon, as us adults unwound and started dinner. We enjoyed the pool, the playground and Black Bear's hot tub and hammocks. Only one person had to try the sauna ( in July?).

The view is wonderful. We will be back!

We enjoyed every minute of the time we spent in Pigeon Forge, and in our BLACK BEAR HIDEWAY! The cabin was so amazing we did not want to leave! Cant wait to come back! As a matter of fact, we are planning on coming back before the end of the year!

We were well pleased for the most part.

The cabin itself was very comfortable. I would suggest another full bathroom upstairs. There are 3 nice bedrooms on the upper level but only 1 full bath. The location was great with 6 grandkids. They had room to play.My husband liked the garage to put his truck in at night. We will most likely return to this area.

      upset:(

Left on 04/22/2010 for a stay in April 2010

the cabin we stayed in was very, very dusty, cobwebs around the fireplace and in the basement. the waterfalls in front was not working and the water in the ponds were nasty. the airhockey table did not work. we did not get to check in til after 4pm. we ask for a discount for not getting in on time and was told we could stay longer on sunday, but we had reservation and couldn't. for what we payed it should have been dusted and stuff working and got in on time. i still think we should recieve a discount on it for what we paid. the cabin was beautiful but had several issues that should be taken care of before renting. would not recommed this to anyone.

Response from Eden Crest Vacation Rentals, Inc - 04/26/2010

I am sorry you were not able to check in at 4pm however I assure you we do everything in our power to get all of our guests checked in as quickly as possible. We do not intentionally delay a check in and if you will refer to the policy statement we do not guarantee a 4pm check in time. The waterfalls and the ponds are both amenities over which we have no control. The owner of this property has turned the waterfalls off due to guest activities that have caused them to malfunction. The ponds are the responsibility of the HOA and are stocked with fish for guests to enjoy. I don't know if you mean they were nasty due to the pollen on the surface of them which is normal this time of year but I have never found them to be what I would consider nasty just regular farm ponds. As to the dust issues you encountered if you had called these into our office we would have resolved this for you immediately. I apologize for this problem and will take this up with our cleaning staff. I am sorry you were upset during your stay but I hope you enjoyed yourself otherwise. We hope to see you again real soon.

      A new family tradition!

The Black Bear Hideaway was beautiful! Spacious, yet
it still felt so cozy! Great location. You feel
tucked away in the mountains, but the store is just
down the road. We only wish we could have stayed
longer. Comfortable beds, great kitchen, huge dining
table- we could all fit (10 adults)! We hope to make
the Black Bear Hideaway our new annual siblings
tradition! Thank you, Eden Crest. Check in/check out
process was very quick and easy. The staff was very
      friendly and helpful!
