The Alexander, Armes, Langdon, and Howes Families
Lancing, TN and Strawberry Plains, TNArmes Family Getaway
Left on 06/06/2013 for a stay in May 2013
Our extended family just came back from a Southern Splendor Getaway this past Memorial Day weekend. The cabin was very nice and accomidated 4 small Families well. (11 total). Nice King Beds made for a good nights sleep. We enjoyed Fishing in the ponds very much which was really the reason we rented this place in the first place.
The only compliant we had was we think the info on your website in the description of "2 minutes to the swimming and fishing" should be modified to a 2 minute "Drive" if not a "5" minute drive to the fishing ponds and swimming areas. That description of access is why we rented this particular cabin. We had 4 in our group over the age of 60. We thought we could walk right to the ponds. Well you can, but its at a very step grade down and we did it and it took approx 15-20 minutes. We never attempted the walk back up because none of us thought we could do it and made frequent carpools back and forth from cabin to ponds/pool. Don't get me wrong, we would rent this place again, but I do feel the fishing and swimming part was a little misleading in location as that was the main reason we rented this particiular cabin. We really enjoyed our stay at Little Valley and hope to stay again sometime now that we have a better idea of the property lay out. -

Oak park, ILGreat vacation in such a comfortable cabin!
Left on 04/11/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We love our stay in the little valley mountain resort!!! We stayed in southern splendor. It is upto 12people, but we had only 8 people. So we had plenty of room to play n share. But we could easily see 12 people in there and still comfortable. The cabin was very clean and well maintained. However, there were a lot of lady bugs. When we stayed, the weather was cold and snowy, but lady bugs were keep coming into bathrooms. I guess that's something you need to get used to when you are in the middle of forest. The location of the resort is perfect, close to pigeon forge but far enough to avoid loudness od the city, and close to smoky mountain for daily visit. The staffs were very friendly from making reservation to check-out and they were very informative about how to get to the smoky n what things to look for. It felt truly home away from home. I would definitely go back to smoky mountain and when we do, we will definitely stay here again. Thank you so much for such a great vacation experience. I believe where you stay is a big part of a vacation and it was excellent choice for us.

Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in August 2012
Can't say enough about the cabin ... loved, loved, loved it!! I would definitely stay again! Was hard to find one with 4 king beds and 4 baths. One of the bedrooms did not have a bathroom attached ... the 4th bathroom was beside it and shared with the bunk beds ... this was not a problem. The beds were also very comfortable. If you are a nonsmoking family like we are and plan on grilling, make sure you have a lighter or mathces to light the grill with! We did not play miniature golf but I was disappointed with how it looked. I felt that as nice as the cabins were, the miniature golf needed to be updated.

Freehold, NJThe best vacation ever!!!
Left on 08/29/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The house was wonderful, better than the internet pictures. The reservation agent helped me pick the best cabin for the 3 families vacationing in the cabin. The clerk at check-in gave us terrific advise on which trails to hike. The pool was clean and the free ice cold water at pool side was terrific service.
We called this vacation, the adventure vacation. We zip-lined, rafted, tubed, go-carted, hiked, swam in the river, laughed, ate and reconnected with our children. We did not see any shows or visit Dollywood. The best part of the trip was being in the beauty of the Smokey Mountains and we took full advantage of the mountains every day.

Left on 08/26/2011 for a stay in July 2011
Thoroughly enjoyed the cabin..it allowed us to be able to be close to all that the smokies offer from an entertainment perspective but still be able to stay in a private, quiet high end cabin. Very clean and very well laid out cabin floorplans...Tons of room. Lots of wildlife and the fishing ponds were an added surprise. Great family spot /...will definitely stay again...Service was great...cabin we had rented had a well go dry so they upgraded us to a cabin with one more bedroom at no charge...staff was so friendly

Left on 03/15/2011 for a stay in February 2011
I love Little Valley Mountain Resort. Southern Splendor was a beautiful cabin, but it was too small for us. We had enough bedrooms for everyone, but the bed rooms are too small. We had lots of stumped toes and bumped knees, but we managed. It has two bedrooms on the main floor, each with their own bathroom. Two bedrooms upstairs but only one has a private bath, the other is out in the loft by the bunk bed. This cabin would be great for adults or elderly guest ( it only has a few steps to the front door). We had kids ranging from 4 to 14 and they found themselves bored with the pool table and hot tub after the first day, an arcade or video system would be a great upgrade for this cabin. I loved the privacy of this cabin and I would stay there again, but not with a large group of children. I would also suggest a mini vaccum cleaner for all the lady bugs...if the saying is true about them bieng lucky then we should have enough luck to carry us through the rest of our lives! ( we did get rear-ended the day before we left by a toyota full of marines so I'm not so sure about the whole lucky ladybug thing anyway LOL) I would recomend Southern Splendor to any adult/ elderly group or a small family with fewer children. I would recommend Little Valley Resort to everyone, it's perfect!

Left on 11/09/2010 for a stay in October 2010
Four couples away for annual extended football weekend. Loved location as "back" roads allowed travel to/from Knoxville for game without getting into Pigeon Forge traffic - yet was close to grocery shopping, if extras were needed. Enjoyed privacy/distance from other cabins. Very nice cabin; well decorated. Disappointed in limited cookware available in kitchen. Listed as 4 BR/4 bath - but the 4th bath was not with the 4th BR, which was a major disappointment as each couple wanted private BR/bath. Would consider Southern Splendor again - and especially Little Valley Mountain Resort.

We visited Sevierville and stayed in this cabin during the 4th of July and it was very nice. My family and extended family truly enjoyed the time we spent there and are already planing our next trip there. The cabin was very clean and conveinantly located to everything. We also had a couple of elderly family members that came with us and the cabin was conducive to their needs. This resort exceeded my expectations. We will always use Little Valley Mountain Resort when we visit the Gatinlburg area.

The staff was lukewarm at best I thought. Pretty expensive cabin for a cabin that doesn't have basic amenities for cooking--i.e. potholders, spatula, the very basics. It was decorated cute--but I feel the owners just provided as little as they could for a stay. We had to buy a lot of stuff. The resort itself--pool only stays open until 7:30 each night. We would come back after long day of activities and the kids would want to swim--oops! Pool closed! Ridiculous. Fishing ponds and putt putt--not too impressive. Not worth the money they charge.

We planned a Spring Break vacation and had a great time . We had plenty of room for 8 adults and 2 kids, we could all eat together and still have privacy. The resort was beautiful as well as the home. The boys (ages 10 and 12) had plenty to do during our times at the home when we weren't running into the towns. We will definitely come back tp the resort and the home, if we need all that room again.

Wow is what I can start off by saying. First of all I was lead to the resort via GPS and got lost. I call the resort and the lady that answered the phone was soooo very comforting. She stayed on the phone and directed me to the door of the resort. The stay was nice, location was awesome!! Minutes away from the main street of Everything. Will be returning back this year.

Louisville, KYSplendid Southern Splendor
Left on 12/05/2008 for a stay in November 2008
We spent four days in Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg. The cabin made a "splendid" retreat from the days of shopping and sight-seeing. The cabin's convienent location to local attractions is great. But the location is still remote enough to provide quiet "country" evenings.
It was a damp trip, rained some each day. The clothes drier had a little trouble keeping up. This still didn't take away from the great time that we had on this trip.
We'll have to come back at a drier time to try some of the outdoor amenities offered by the resort.

This was a great place to relax, sit back and enjoy the veiw. We've been here many times but this is the frist time in Southern Splendor. We came down for the Northern Illinois vs. U.T. football game. There were 10 of us and we had room to roam. We needed to stay an extra day due to illness and everyone was a great help. Can't wait to visit again.

Nashville, TNWeekend at Southern Splendor
Left on 11/07/2008 for a stay in October 2008
My familiy rented Southern Splendor for the weekend of October 9-12, 2008. We chose the particular home because of its size, ammenities and price. We could not have been happier with our selection. The home was beautiful inside and out, there was ample parking and the view was spectacular. The kitchen and living area were able to accomodate our family (six adults and 3 children) comfortably and there were more than enough places to sleep. We enjoyed the hot tub, the pool table and the rocking chairs on the two decks. We will definiately be staying at Southern Splendor again when we return.
