WhitehallGreat family getaway!
Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We absolutely loved the view from the upper deck. That alone made the trip worthwhile! Nights were cozy with the fireplace on, and we really enjoyed the hot tub too. It felt like a home away from home, and we'd definitely rent another Great Cabins property, though we likely will not return to this unit because we would have preferred for everyone to have their own bedroom. We have two teenaged children and this was only a two bedroom cabin, so next time we'll upgrade to a larger unit because the sofa beds were not very comfortable. A couple of negatives worth noting are that there was a wasp problem inside the cabin. The day we checked in we found several dead wasps on the floor, and during our week stay my daughter stepped on a live wasp and was stung on the bottom of her foot just before we went hiking - yikes! Every day we killed several wasps upstairs. This is apparently an ongoing issue since we found a can of wasp killer in the laundry closet. Also, neither the washer nor the dryer work, which meant we had to visit the laundromat during our vacation. Not a huge deal, but we packed light thinking that we'd be able to wash our clothes. All in all, it was a nice vacation, and we enjoyed our stay!

Great Cabins in the smokies is the only cabins rentals that we have stayed with the last few years. Love the service and the people in the office are wonderful. Try to take a trip to the smokies a couple times a year

Great location, great view and the cabin itself was all around wonderful as beautiful. Very very clean and comfortable, i called with a question they got right on it. Very friendly group of people and we look forward to our next stay... will definitely be back to this awesome place. Thank you all so very much for our first experience!! You all are great :)

NashvilleNot Clean and Very Unsafe for Children
Left on 07/09/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Upon arrival we had a few problems: First off the toilet in the downstairs bathroom was disgusting, it had not been cleaned around the lid. Second, there was raccoon feces all over on the top deck which the way it looked had been there for some time, we were un able to use that deck.Respnse to this was that it was just "Berries". Sure that had come out of a animals back end...
Another problem and probably the most dangerous of all was the pickets or vertical 1”x 1” boards going all along the deck on both the top and bottom decks, these are held in by the smallest of nails and "Should” be held in with screws. There were many pickets that had the nails completely out of the side of the deck which leaves at least a 10” gap. We had small children with us and could not let them go out on the deck because of this reason. A true safety hazard that needs to be brought to your attention. Any of our children could have easily fallen threw and been seriously injured if not killed.
Trash, trash and more trash...The area around the outside of the cabin. Plastic bags, candy wrappers, and most of all cigarette butts completely littered the ground when looking below while on the deck.
Waking up in the upstairs bedroom and looking up as I woke from sleep...the big windows facing the back of the cabin are filthy and have obviously not been cleaned for some time. We also had our run in with 3 roaches on our last morning on the 4th which was our calling to just get it cleaned and leave the cabin as quickly as possible and never look back..
I got a horrible response from Marty Huddleston the General Managerall i got was excuses and carelessness towards the safety of the deck especially.
Will not be doing business here again.
Response from Great Cabins in the Smokies - 07/25/2012
Manager
Not only did I speak to Chris about these issues at length, I had already sent both maintenance and housekeeping personnel out to the cabin to check on all these issues for the guests.
The only validity to any of these claims that we found at the cabin was that there was a water stain on the toilet bowl, the upper windows were somewhat dirty and there was 4 or 5 pieces of trash that had been thrown into the surrounding back weeds. We treated the toilet bowl with some chemical to remove and minimize the water stain and we picked up the trash. The deck spindles were constructed with nails, which is pretty much the standard for construction in our area. There are no missing nails or gaps in the the spindles as reported. If this guest wants to insist that screws should have been used, I can't do anything about that.
But I do take offense to being called careless. Hopefully, anyone concerned about these comments will read enough other guest reviews on our website to see that Great Cabins takes pride in their properties and our personnel do anything they can to rectify any valid guest problems or complaints.

Pensacola, FLmy stay with Great Cabins
Left on 06/01/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I have stayed with Great Cabins several times. This time was not as pleasurable as the previous times. I reservered a certain cabin and when we arrived we were given a different cabin that we did not select. It was explained after we checked out and went home that the cabin we reserved, the poeple decided to stay a few days longer. I then requested to speak to a manager and she explained that when the cleaning staff went to clean the cabin that all of the stuff from the previour tentant was still in the cabin. they knew we would be arriving in the new few hours so they just switched us to a different cabin. Hopefully this wont happen again if we decide to stay with Great Cabins in the future.

Manager
Gloria,
We are sorry this happened to you but sometimes things like this can inadvertantly happen with guests. We can only try to take care of each guest as best we can. In your case, we thought we would be satisfying you by moving you to a larger, very comparable cabin.
Again, we are sorry for the disappointing stay and hope to make it up to you if you do come back again! -

Didn't get to use the hot tub as it had not been
cleaned and had black sediment on the bottom.
Other than that, enjoyed the stay!Response from Great Cabins in the Smokies - 04/28/2011
Manager
We investigated this as soon as you notified us of the situation and verified that the hot tub had indeed been cleaned properly and was sanitary for use but that there was some sediment that had come in through the water line in refilling the tub. Unfortunately, this will occur sometimes with well water and we didn't catch it this time! We have talked to you and are sending you a gift card to use towards your next stay with us. Again, we are sorry for the inconvenience caused.
