Valhalla is the quintessential riverfront log cabin. The view of the Little Pigeon River off the back deck, and from the private fishing deck below it, is absolutely beautiful. The sounds of nature, from chirping birds to the rush of the river over the rapids just downstream, will be the soundtrack to an amazing family getaway. This 2 bedroom, 2 bath rustic log cabin is truly a little piece of heaven nestled in seclusion just outside of Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge. You're close enough to be able to enjoy all of the excitement if you like, yet far enough away to escape the hustle bustle and enjoy being close to nature. The cabin is incredibly... comfortable, spacious - yet cozy, and gives the visitor a true feeling of home away from home. It features a spacious kitchen, living room, library, two bedrooms, two full baths, a laundry complete with washer, dryer, iron, and ironing board. But the inside is just a portion of your enjoyment here. Outside, there are walking trails leading down to the river's edge, a fantastic picnic area complete with a picnic table (or separate benches if you prefer) and charcoal grill. Besides the large deck off the back of the cabin, there is a lower deck which overhangs the Little Pigeon River. This is a great place from which to "catch the big one" or just relax. We're sure that you will love Valhalla.Read more

We had a wonderful time at the Vahalia. It was a cozy cabin being by the little pigeon river was absolutely gorgeous. It snowed the first night we were there all up into the next day until 5:00 the next evening which made for a beautiful view. Our Thanksgiving vacation turned out to be a memrable one!!

Valhalla was a great cabin with plenty of room and beautiful views! Area attractions were close by and we enjoyed having fun and being able to relax after a day of playing. I would definitely recommend Valhalla whether you want quiet relaxation time or local "play" time.
Upon seeing the creek / river? behind the cabin, I knew this would be a destination that would bless my family. The view was restorative. The cabin was comfortable. My kids and I took rafts and floated with the current several times, splashing and diving in the nearly 8' deep water. 10 miles or so to tourist attractions and shopping added fun. We have already recommended Vahalla several times.
Go back? Yes--- Wishing rates were better however.
Truly Relaxing Stay in a Wonderfully Scenic Cabin by the River

Our cabin was clean, effecient, well furnished and comfortable. We spent a week in the Valhalla while site-seeing in Pigeon Forge checking out all the touristy stuff that my wife wanted to see. I could have simply stayed in the cabin the whole time, sitting by the fire, reading my books, sitting on the front porch swing or on the deck down by the water listening to the river rush by. The cabin was very spacious, clean and had all the utensials and dishes we needed to be self-sufficient for the week. I even used the little study to write out out post cards for family and friends. Rustic in a sense, yet modern enough to be comfortable. We did the pre-advance-check-in deal and was worth it. Even the DVR was good to go. I'm considering coming back to this very cabin when I retire next year and bringing my entire family. Go Navy, beat army, God bless america!! Read more

Valhalla was a great get-away for our family. The home has plenty of room. The kids were upstairs and enjoyed their own "space" and bathroom. We loved the deck off the master bedroom. Every morning we opened the french doors and let the fresh air pour in. Kids fished off the dock and rocks; lots of success!!! Also used inner tubes a little further downstream, which the kids loved. Location is private, but with easy access to Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. Very quiet and relaxing.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Valhalla. It was very nice. The view of the river from the windows in the dining room and living room was the perfect combination with a hot cup of coffee in the mornings. We also enjoyed sitting out on the balcony and listening to the sounds of the rapids. The front porch in the evenings was like the icing in the cake. The associates at the rental office were very nice and helpful as well. We loved the fact that we were far enough away from the tourist sections, but close enough that we could get there in just a few minutes. We would definitely recommend staying at Valhalla to others looking for a relaxing vacation.

The view and location were great. Check in was very easy although the rental contract seemed to take a long time to get through. Not nearly as easy as getting a Hotel. The cabin was tucked into the side of a hill with a small river running behind it. View was great.
Cabin itself was outdated and could use a facelift. Vinyl floors,(not really dirty but not really clean looking) formicha counters and old fixtures. All working just not on par with other cabins in this price range. Price was as much as other cabins that were alot nicer and more ammenities. No Hot tubs or game rooms. Only 1 television.
We got this cabin for Thanksgiving and during that time was hard to find any other available units. Everything was in working condition and was clean for the most part. Probably as well as it could be except for the pair of underwear that was found inside one of the blankets.
Once again the view was great and with a very minor facelift the cabin could be so much more. It does have wonderful woodwork and craftsmanship. Just needs some TLC.

We had a delightful stay at Valhalla. It was quiet, secluded and most enjoyable. The cabin is spacious and comfortable and the furnishings are beautiful. We slept well and could hear the river falling and when it rained it made a pleasant sound on the tin roof! The cabin is accesible and close enough to the local happenings. It was great!

Our family is drawn to the mountains every summer and we enjoying exploring different areas to stay for our vacation. Loved the Pittman Center location of this cabin right on the river! Unfortunately for us we discovered this cabin is in need of some TLC. No hot or even warm water on our first night. Management had a repairman out the next day and he stayed until it was resolved. On to our big issue, mice and apparently lots of them. The cleaning crew should be replaced because it was ridiculous that they left mouse dropping everywhere in the kitchen. I mean on every shelf in the pantry, on the counters, in the cabinets & drawers, in the broiler area of the stove, on top the microwave, and on the floor. For us this was the deal breaker on never staying here again. Again management tried to resolve the issue. They sent an exterminator, I think on our 4th day he came, also the cleaning crew came out, but they did not open their eyes and give that kitchen a thorough cleaning, still had mouse dropping all over. There were no cabins available to switch us to on the water, so we chose to stay and had to keep our food off counters and wore shoes in the house at all times. Little things like the remote to the tv being broken did not bother me. It was the rodents! That really did take the charm out of the cabin for us, which is sad because it does have nice features. Read more
This was a very unfortunate situation that we worked especially hard to resolve. In response I'd like to address each of the issues individually:
Hot Water: We gave the guests the option of having a repairman out to fix the hot water issue on the night of their arrival. Due to the late time of evening they chose to wait for him to come the next morning.
Rodents: Under these circumstances our first option for the guest is to move to a different property while we work through these issues. As indicated here in this review, proximity to the river was more important to this guest than moving to a location that was free of rodents. We would have been more than happy to help them move to a different location. Since the guest decided to stay at this property we offered to extend their stay an extra day at our expense, but the guest was not able to stay any longer than originally scheduled.
Cleaning Crew: We feel that the comments regarding the cleaning crew are unfair due to the circumstances. Unfortunately, as these things go, when the cleaning crew was at the property the last time before this guests arrival (a few days prior) there was no evidence of a rodent problem. Had their been evidence of mice during their housekeeping visit the issue would have been properly dealt with prior to the guests arrival.
The way the review is written it would lead you to believe that the exterminator and cleaning crew were there on the 4th day of the guests stay when in fact the housekeeping crew was sent to the cabin on the first day within the hour of the guests informing us that there were mouse droppings in the house. In these circumstances we always have the housekeepers take detailed photographs of the trouble areas before and after the issues are addressed. We were satisfied with the results of the cleaning that was portrayed in those photos. The guest did not inform us that they felt this cleaning was insufficient during their stay.
The exterminator actually visited the property multiple times during this guests stay (it is possible that they were not at the property the first couple of times that he visited).
It should also be noted that we were happy to provide plastic sealable containers for the guest to store their food items in so as to avoid exposure to the mice and for their peace of mind.
TV Remote: These guests reported that the TV remote was not working properly. Unfortunately, due to the type of satellite receivers that are located in this cabin, the remote had to be special ordered and did not arrive prior to this guests departure.
Summary: No doubt, the property DID have a rodent problem. This was evidenced by the mouse droppings which were found in various and sundry places about the cabin. However, this guest was offered the opportunity to move to a different location and declined that offer. It is our opinion that the guests unhappiness subsequent to that offer was self inflicted and should not be considered as a part of a potential guests deliberation about the possibility of staying in this property. The rodent problem was RESOLVED during this guests stay and has been monitored extensively since their departure. We made other compensatory offers to this guest which were also declined.

Relaxing, quiet and secluded. Cabin is outdated, appliances are old and falling apart, bed is very uncomfortable. Shower never really gets hot, and pressure is very weak. If you can tolerate all that, the location is great and the view out of the back of the cabin of the river is wonderful. Nice place to just put your float in the water and enjoy.

We loved the place but the gravel road was not the best for motorcycles. The agent said the road was flat and well packed but it was somewhat loose and on a slope which is not fun on a cycle. If the road was paved, this would be our first choice in the Smokys. The place is gorgeous and the river location is top notch with rapids just downstream of the house. The only negative besides the road was that we had a few small visitors during the night but mouse traps took care of them.

This cabin was situated on a beautiful lot on the pigeon river. The scenery was gorgeous and the cabin was only 15-20 mins from Pigeon Forge. My wife was not crazy about the location because it was very secluded, but this was not a problem for me. Additionally, the portion of the river that the cabin sits on is deep and swiftly moving which makes it a little dangerous for children. Overall though, the cabin was a wonderful place to relax.

Overall we had a wonderful stay. The only things we did have an issue with were ants in the kitchen the whole week even though we sprayed almost everyday, not enough dishwashing detergent for the dishwasher for a full week, not enough garbage bags for a full week, the tv remote is old and doesn't work well, there were a few more I just can't think of them right off the top of my head. Read more
We're sorry to hear about the ants in the kitchen. We certainly would have been happy to call the pest service had we been informed of this problem. Often times these sorts of things can pop up overnight and we're not aware of them. Please be sure to bring this sort of thing to our attention immediately so that we can handle it for you.
One thing to keep in mind anytime you're staying in one of our vacation rentals is that while we do provide a "starter supply" of certain items (soap, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, trash bags, etc) these items are provided for your convenience, and not as a part of your rental. We don't want you to wake up on your first morning and not have necessities, but we cannot provide enough of these items for a week long stay.
We have replaced the TV remote as well. Sorry for the inconvenience.

It's a great environment for a family, beauthiful location, it isolated, separated from the next valle, guiet, it's larger than what it looks from the picture, the floor plans in wonderful with the upstair over looking the living room, kids upstair- parents downstairs, and it's clean. The kids can feel safe. I loved it and we would love to go back every year. It would be a great location for newlyweds or a large family with lots to do, play in the river, hike, be adventures and go sightseeing. It has a large shopping outlet not far away. I love my stay in Tennessee.

The cabin and location was great had a great view and the river in the back yard was great. There was only one problem we found several roaches in the cabin mainly in the kitchen,if you pay this much for a cabin you Shouldnt have to worry about roaches in the cabin Read more
We are very alarmed to hear of roaches in the kitchen. This is certainly not a common, and we take this very seriously. Please be sure to report this type of problem to the rental firm immediately when you notice it. We would have called the pest service and they would have been to the cabin within the hour.
Unfortunately, with a cabin in the woods like this one is it is almost impossible to keep all of the critters and pests away, but we do our best. Anytime we know that there is a problem we gladly send someone out to clean up and take care of the issues.
