We have stayed in multiple cabins in the area and this was our least favorite. Home was in decent condition and had lots of room for privacy and nice Tv's. The view we had was trees and a poorly maintained lot. No mountain view in site. Parking is limited to one large or maybe two small vehicles. Check in was kind of a pain. We called in the morning around 11am and they indicated home was being cleaned and would be ready soon. So at 2:30pm we stopped by and they said it was still being cleaned, but gave us directions to go check it out. We got to the home at 2:45 and nobody was there, so we called them back and they said to come in the property was ready. We came back to the office, only for them to give us a code to enter the property, which they could have done the first time we were there. Read more
Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Bear Pause. We are very sorry to hear that this was not your favorite cabin. As stated on our website, this particular does have a wooded view and 2 parking spots. Although there is not a mountain view, most guests find the setting very serene and relaxing.
Unfortunately, we cannot always allow early check-ins, as each cabin must be cleaned and inspected. In this case, the previous guest checked-out at 10 am on the same day of your arrival. As stated in our policies: "Check-In at the JMH office begins at 3:00 pm. If you arrive early, you may have to wait to check in if your property is not ready". We are not able to provide the code prior to the cabin being ready because the door code is changed following every cleaning and inspection.
Again we are sorry to hear that this was not your favorite cabin and sincerely hope that you will choose Jackson Mountain Homes in the future.

This was a great retreat for our get together. Our family of 6 met up with friends who have a family of five. Plenty of space for the kids and adults to enjoy without being on top of each other. Also plenty of space for each family to have some space when needed. Well stocked kitchen - although could use a few more plates :) We fed the kids, washed dishes and then fed adults - kind of a nice break really, but could have used a few more plates. Over all a great stay. Read more

The 4 bedrooms, each with its own full bath, was perfect for our family of mom and grown children. Everyone had their private space, but there were great spaces to come together. We didn't see any bears, but the raccoons came around every night. We had a great time, and will probably request this cabin if we visit the area again. (The winding staircase might not be appropriate for toddlers or anyone with disabilities.). We loved the windows and decks. It is a bit difficult to find, but each time we wnt out, we felt like we were coming back to our home. Very clean.
Our Smokey Mountain Retreat

Our visit to the Smokey Mountains and our stay at the Jackson Mountain Homes Bear Pause cabin exceeded our expectations. The home is beautiful and sat quite peacefully mountain side. Everything was spotless and loaded with amenities; I loved the fact that each bath was loaded with towels.
There is plenty to do in the area, with Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so close by. There was also Climb Works Zip-Lining, white water rafting and biking down in Cades Cove.
The only concern I had was with our nightly visit from Rocky Raccoon. We were forced to come up with make-shift ways to keep him out of the trash. I'd like to suggest that Jackson add cages to store the trash can. We did notice cages at other cabins in the area cabins.
Did not see 1 Bear!
Great Location & Amenities. Would Rent again

Three Floors allowed us to spread out. We had an 18 month old with us so we just gated off the stair well on the main level. Great having games downstairs with Washer/Dryer. Beautiful place to stay. Kitchen reasonably stocked with service ware. Pay attention to the instructions on the refrigerator about bears and trash, they did come!
Fantastic Fall Getaway!

Our family has stayed with JMH now for three years and we are never disappointed in the service! Although the roads leading up to the cabin were narrow and winding, the directions provided by the office were very clear and on target. The cabin was beautiful and comfortably slept 3 families. There are just a few suggestions...the kitchen cookware is less than desirable and sorely inadequate. Making bacon and pancakes proved to be a bit challenging. There were also not enough coffee mugs without running the dishwasher several times a day. The metal winding staircase is unique and fun for some but not for small children (under 3) or senior citizens...even our dog got scared walking up and had to be carried up and down the stairs. Finally, the deck with the hot tub didn't have a single chair to sit on (although it had a snow shovel) and the upper deck only had 2 rocking chairs and 2 lounge chairs. The owners would benefit if they provided not only comfortable but ample outdoor seating for their guests. If you are planning on taking more than 2 cars, parking will be challenging. We had to park parallel to the house and there is room for no more than 2 cars. With that said, we would have stayed longer if our schedules would have allowed. Never enough time to take it all in! Thanks again for the wonderful service and for providing my family with memories they won't soon forget. Read more

This is the third time we have stayed with Jackson Mountain. This third time was not charm. We couldnt complain about the staff of Jackson Mountain. As always they were great! The cabin was another story. The cabin was not clean. The dishwasher was a major pain. They either need to remove it or replace it. We left a day early as we were not happy there. The parking sucked. There was an odor in the kitchen that we never could find the source. I feel the owners of the cabin are getting poor cleaning service. The floors were dirty, bathrooms, and crumbs and spider webs everywhere. We will stay with Jackson Mountain again. Just not this cabin. Read more

We took our family to Gatlinburg to celebrate our oldest daugter, who will be leaving us for college soon. We really enjoyed the cabin. Each of our 4 children had their space and the cabin was laid out nicely allowing everyone to have space and time together. We would definitely stay here again! As always thanks "Jackson Mountain" for helping us out with our vacation needs!

The service was excellent, especially considering our first choice cabin became unavailable after booking. Jackson Mountain Homes did a wonderful job of explaining the situation and made every effort satisfy our needs. The home was very nice and was a perfect replacement. It had every thing we requested in the first home and more. The location was a little out of the way and hard to get in and out of but, we spent most of our time at the cabin any way. Parking was difficult and is not adequate, in our opinion, for the size of the cabin. We liked the fact that every bedroom had their own bathroom and TV. The common areas were especially nice with lots of room and very comfortable. We found the spiral staircases were difficult to navigate and not safe for small children. We wound up buying removable gates to keep them off the stairs. Overall we were very satisfied with the cabin and very impressed with the service provided by Jackson Mountain Homes.
