      great cabin in terrific setting

Left on 04/10/2013 for a stay in February 2013

This cabin was a great getaway for our group of 8. We've rented with Great Cabins in the Smokies in the past and always had a great experience. This cabin was enjoyable for all of us -- all of amenities were great. While there were some minor issues (bedroom pillows were worn, kitchen pans/spatulas needed replacement, a missing tv remote, and our cabin needed a bit of tidying up), the cabin was wonderful -- the views and location were spectacular, the rooms were sizable, and the location was good. We also found that the management company was very responsive. Would certainly return.

Thoroughly enjoyed our getaway! Would recommend. :)

Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013

We loved our stay here! Wears Valley really is the best place to stay in the Smokies! It's picturesque but not overly touristy like Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

We were very impressed with Great Cabins in The Smokies' gated cabin community and with Dejaview. The cabins are fairly close to each other, but the views from the windows and deck make it feel more secluded. It's also a nice distance up the hill away from the main road.

We stayed here for a long Easter Weekend with our baby and my brother-in-law and his wife, who were visiting from the UK. The cabin itself is very cozy and well appointed. The spa bathtubs were amazing for soaking with your honey and looking out the window at the view. The kitchen was well equipped with glassware, cookware, etc. so we enjoyed cooking nice meals and enjoying some wine and cocktails. We didn't use the sauna upstairs, but it was nice to have it indoors.

Over all, we were thrilled with our experience at Dejaview, but here are the few small negatives (which we had no problem getting over because we enjoyed our stay so much):

-The photos make the cabin look much bigger inside than it actually is (several of these companies use wide angle lenses, manipulate the lighting and enhance the views out the windows--it's shameless, but it works)
-The only eating space is the island bar in the kitchen--no dining table.
-The fireplace is amazing, but it makes the upstairs loft uncomfortably hot when it's on
-The pool table was very nice and fun to play on, but the space is a little too small to allow shots from certain spots without serious strain
-The hot water only lasts long enough to fill one bath tub before having to reheat
-The temperature got uncomfortably hot at night in our bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs (maybe because we closed the door to our bedrooms)

      Great! Will Go again!

Left on 04/01/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Lots of major great things abut this place. Awesome hot tub, amazing view, great location - secluded but not far away from pigeon forge or gatlinburg. The beds were so so so comfortable. I have back problems and slept perfectly each night. The kitchen was well stocked thou we did not use it. The sauna was great. Only I,prove, net would be the hot watt heater, it was only my husband and I in the cabin during our stay, we found it difficult to regulate. Seemed to run out too quickly, which I am certain this could be improved with a simple improvement. The area had many many fantastic restaurants. Wich included bullfish grill, the bakin bishop, and the old mill restaurant, all were beyond expectations. The cabin was far beyond my expectations of cleanliness, everything was immaculate. Everyone at the Great Cabins was very helpful, and super easy to communicate with, very prompt and professional. I would recommend this property to everyone and look forward to going back very soon!

Our Experience at Dejaview Was amazing!!

Left on 03/14/2013 for a stay in February 2013

The Cabin was very clean, and relaxing. Myself and my party really enoyed our stay at Dejaview. The only complaints I have is the Hott water really needs to be adjusted. We couldnt fully utilize the jetted tubs in either of the baths because the water didnt stay hot enough to fill the tubs, taking showers was pure madness. The directions to the cabin are very unclear as well. Other than that I would highly recommend this cabin.

      Nice cabin for quiet getaway

Left on 10/04/2012 for a stay in September 2012

The cabin was clean and had everything you needed. Hot tub and sauna were nice. I agree with previous reviewers that they needed some kind of table outside. Additionally, the rocking chairs were very uncomfortable. There is absolutely no view in the summer. I suppose in the winter you would have mountain views from far off. The entrance to the community is easy to miss and is one lane and steep. Would be a challenge in the winter. But overall, a nice place for quick weekend away.

      First trip to the mountains

Left on 08/16/2012 for a stay in August 2012

This was our first trip to the Smokey Mountains. It was an awesome trip. We were welcomed at the registration desk by a very helpful employee. She gave us great directions to the cabin. The road to the cabin was an adventure. The roads were narrow and steep, but that made it exciting. The cabin was beautiful and well cared for. Our four children (ages 5-17) enjoyed the pool table and hot tub. This was a great family vacation and we are talking about coming back really soon. We drove for over 20 hours to get here and feel that it was well worth the drive. I would highly recommend this cabin. Thanks for a great stay.

      Great Cabin

Left on 10/27/2010 for a stay in October 2010

The cabin was great. Beautiful and very clean. We are used to paying a little less for a cabin in a wooded area, but it was worth every penny. The only complaint I have is that the road leading down and up to the group of cabins was very very steep and narrow and being from Louisiana where everything is flat, we were terrified to take a turn off of the main road and go blindly straight down. We were in a large automobile and my friend couldn't ever quite make it close enough to the keypad to open the gate which was also on an incline. Therefore, I would have to get out and put in the code while she held the brake and then I would have to hurry and go around and get back up and in before the gate would close. We wet our pants four times from laughing so hard. We also had to park at the cabin on an incline which made loading and unloading a little harder.

      Great Experience

Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in June 2010

On June 12th-19th 2010,my family and I rented the cabin Dejaview. We were very pleased with our stay. The cabin was clean and well furnished. My nine year old daughter loved the hot tub. I'm glad we chose this cabin, the location was perfect. For people who want rest and relaxtion away from all of the surronding towns, this location is perfect. However, this is not a mountain view it's a wooded view. The cabins decor made you feel very relaxed and at home. This was our first time to rent a cabin, the experience was great. The only complaint we had which is minor, there needs to be a small table on the deck. We definetly would like to stay in this cabin again or in one of the other cabins at Laurel Falls. We had a wonderful vacation.
      Thanks,

It is a very beautiful cabin. It was very clean. The bedrooms are very room, but the living room area was a little small for our family of 5. It was still amazing! We loved the decorations and the privacy of the "gated community". Thanks again for a great experience!

We stayed at the cabin to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday and we really had a great time. The kitchen was more than big enough to bake a huge birthday cake and to prepare all kinds of delicious bbq food that we grilled on the charcoal grill outside. The pool table was fun too.
We all said we'd come back, maybe for Thanksgiving? It must be too cozy to turn on the fireplace when it's cool outside..

      Discovering The Smokies

Left on 08/26/2009 for a stay in August 2009

This was our first family trip to the Smokey Mountains and we absolutely loved it. The cabin was just as wonderful as we hoped and the service we received from Linell was terrific. Her suggestions for local BBQ and places to enjoy the park away from some of the crowds were spot on. We plan to come back very soon and now we'll be better prepared to explore more of the park.

After making our first journey into Pidgeon Forge and seeing the mass commercialism on the strip we were SOOO glad we stayed in the Wears Valley area. It was so much more relaxed and peaceful, and provided easy access to the park.

The one suggestion I would have to improve the experience would be to offer WiFi service in the cabins. I know a vacation should be a chance to get away from the demands of modern life, but some things can't wait and email can be a necessary evil. A minor point in an otherwise great experience.

We asked our girls, 8 and 10 years old, would they rather go to Disney World or come back to the Smokies - and they chose the Smokies hands down. What better recommendation could there be!

Wow....glad to hear we won out over Disney World!

We wish we could offer WiFi connectivity at every cabin but unfortunately the mountains and steep terrain prohibit many homes from being able to receive any reasonable WiFi service. However, we do have WiFi available at our offices for our guests' use.

Thanks for the wonderful review and hope to see you back soon!

      A breath of fresh air

Left on 01/27/2009 for a stay in December 2008

The cabin was very neat, clean and well stocked with supplies. A christmas tree was even set up in the living room.
We had a few maintenance issues but the staff was quick to see that the repairs were made.
The sitting area was to small to comfortably sit 4 adults. We were unable to play card games.
I had trouble comming back to the cabin at night with the entrance gate. The key pad would not illuminate until after I entered the first number which was difficult to find.
Overall the cabin was very very nice and the staff was most helpful. Next time I will try to find a cabin with a larger living area.

Left on 10/08/2008 for a stay in July 2008

This home was beautifully decorated with all the comforts of home. Having a bedroom upstairs and downstairs is great if you are vacationing with small children or another couple, as you have the privacy you desire. I wish the deck had been covered, as it was too hot to sit on the deck during the day, so we all had to huddle up on the front porch and were way too cramped.

Cabin has many problems would not stay with this rental again!

Left on 09/29/2008 for a stay in May 2008

We arrived to start our much needed vacation. My mom was going through chemo and this was our week get away to rest and relax.

My mom, Aunt, friend and I found when we arrived, The Cabin is hard to find and located up a steep grate. You would need 4 wheel drive if it was winter or icy.

The Driveway to the Cabin is Steep.
We got into the cabin which appears comfortable at first glance.
But the cabin was in disrepair when it came to actual fact.
The hot water heater was broken and could not handle filling one of the tubs half way when ran completely on hot water.

The hottub outside was strapped down with a bungee cord and the lid covering was in disrepair.
The Hot Tub jets were sluggish and wimpy.

The Cabin had electrical problems, light switches are difficult to locate, and fans are hard to turn off or on.

Stairs leading to upper story are angled and uneven so dangerous unless you are sure footed.

We found a fingernail in the sheets in the bed upstairs. It was a large painted nail. Disgusting!
We hope the cleaning lady is the one who lost it but don't know.

The upper bathroom has a water leek from the tub directly into the downstairs bathroom which makes the lower story bathroom floor slippery, and wet.

The kitchen has minimal pots and pans and is small.

The TV and DVD controls were missing and hidden in an cabinet up above the refrigerator.

When I contacted the management office about the hot water heater not working correctly and that the first person to take a bath running it completely on hot could not even get a half of a tub of water that was luke warm, they said I wasn't the first to bathe and the hot water heater hadn't had time to regain hot water. I stated again I was first to bathe and the hot water heater was not working correctly.

They disregarded what I was saying because I am a woman and they didn't feel I knew what I was saying. The manager admitted this to me later in our stay.
They finally sent someone to fix the problem a few days into our stay after many calls to request it be fixed.
For the record I was first to bathe in our group and the hot water heater definetly was not able to handle filling one tub half way much less 2 bath tubs full.

After the midweek repair it could run a full tub of water that was Luke warm.
We ended up taking quick showers.

We spoke to the manager at the main office and took a list of our concerns. He said he couldn't do anything about it and argued with me that even though I found a fingernail in the upstairs bed that it was clean and he was offended when I showed him the nail.

He eventually promised a partial refund but never came through.
The manager was not friendly and in fact argued and was unpleasant to deal with.

We went to the smokies for a relaxing time and took care selecting our cabin.
I spoke on the phone with them a few times before making the reservation to make sure the cabin had easy access and let them know 2 of the ladies were blind with Guide Dogs.
I was assured that yes, it was easy to access and there was a place for the Guide Dogs to be releived.
When we arrived we found the area was on a very steep hill incline and again the stairs leading to upstairs was very dangerous, uneven, slick, and non uniform.

When speaking with the manager before we left he told me they weren't aware 2 of us were blind. I pointed out I specifically called them about this a couple months before our stay.

Nothing was ever done to compensate us for finding a fingernail in the upstairs bed, the frustration of no hot water, the issues with their property being in disrepair, even though we were promised a partial refund.

This is not a property run with integrity, honesty or hospitality and much about it isn't what it appears.

I would recommend anyone seeking a cabin
Rental to go check out southern living's magazine for recommendations on where to stay and avoid this cabin rental like it had the plague. Next time we visit the smokies I plan to use southern Living Magazines reviewed sites and recommendations...

You don't get your money's worth and it isn't relaxing to have to contact the manager and then have him argue with you.
We really wanted and needed a sister and mother daughter get away and we loved the smoky mountains and visiting Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg. We loved the Smoky Mountain National Park.
We enjoyed our visits to the Old Mill area in Pigeon Forge and the Apple Cider Barn and shopping area.
The moonshine store is a neat stop as well.
But this cabin is not at all what it advertises.
We would never stay with this cabin rental company again.

      Great Cabins in the Smokies

      Manager

We honestly strive to ensure every single Great Cabins guest has the most enjoyable and problem free stay possible. Apparently, we somehow failed with your stay and for that I again apologize.

Regarding the cabins' state of disrepair, this cabin was just built within the last 1 1/2 years. No, the water heater does not have an unlimited capacity to supply large quantities of hot water without time to recover. Yes, our hot tubs have a bungee cord over them to secure the covers so they do not blow off during high winds. Our light switches are labeled and the ceiling fans have labeled switches also. We promptly dispatched maintenance personnel to the cabin to check the switches to verify that they were working properly and there were 'no electrical problems'.

We made every reasonable attempt to address this guests' many concerns, including offering to provide a full refund for the value of the remaining stay. The guest was not happy with this offer, and instead decided to stay for the remainder of her week long stay.

Again, we want every guest to have a fantastic stay and be totally pleased with our vacation homes. We will go to great strides to make this happen.
