      Great weekend visit late September

Left on 03/29/2013 for a stay in September 2012

Lookout lodge was great! Anytime I can get together with my six grown children and their young families is fantastic! But the lodge saved the weekend. We had planned touring the area to see Pigeon Forge, country markets and a antique car show except the weather turned very wet and we couldn't go. Lookout Lodge is the perfect hideout. We enjoyed hours of cooking and setting around the roomy dining/kitchen table just chatting. Lounging in the great/living room next to the stone fireplace. And to get away you could go the the entertainment center and watch movies/TV in the big screen theater. The kids enjoyed playing on the spacious porches. And we all enjoyed the hot tub. Each bedroom was beautiful and unique. It was just wonderful in late September the leaves were starting to show good color.
Are only disappointment was that management did not allow us to use the wonderful gas fireplace. I won't stay there again unless that policy is changed. A cozy fire would have made the whole wet weekend perfect!

      Great Cabins in the Smokies

      Manager

We are very sorry but the fireplaces are opened up seasonally. Usually late in September, depending upon the temperatures. It just wasn't cold enough to warrant use of the fireplaces and sometimes guests will turn HVAC up/down to extremes to enable fireplace use and this causes many problems.

Sounds like everything else was perfect for you! Hope you will understand and forgive us.

Our family really enjoyed Lookout Lodge. We liked it so well that we would have loved to book it for Thanksgiving, but alas, it was booked. It was worth it to have such a large and well planned cabin for our large group. Thank you, we loved it!

This cabin was absolutely beautiful and perfect in every way. There were 18 of us, 8 adults 6 kids, and 2 babies, and we had a wonderful long weekend. There were so many things to do, we never even left the cabin. There's a great yard for the kids to play in, wonderful game room, awesome media room, porches, hot tub, and plenty of space for everyone to spread out! Attention was paid to every detail, the decor was beautiful and the cabin was well appointed and spotlessly clean. Great Cabins is an awesome management company, and their level of customer service was outstanding. We will be back!!!

Fantastic cabin in a great location.Everything you could need for a great holiday.
One small criticism is that the oven was not very clean and a few of the pans needed cleaning before we could use them. For the European visitor an electric kettle would have made our essential tea making activity much easier.

Absolutely stunning home and amenities. Awesome large rooms. Beautifully decorated in a mountain lodge style. Incredible view! Wonderful wrap around deck on main level. Very nice walk out from lower king room with a gorgeous view. Everything about the place exceeded our expectations! We had 16 people and still had lots of room to play, rest, sleep, and eat. I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!

A great home for three generations of family members to enjoy

Left on 08/08/2010 for a stay in June 2010

This was a great getaway for our extended family of 13. The house was great for the entire family. From the grandparents in their 50's and 60's to the grandchildren ranging from 2 to 14 we all had a great time relaxing on the great porches and family kitchen. The kids loved the game room and after the first trip to town, the drive was a breeze. We plan to return and hope to be fortunate enought to book the Lookout Lodge again. The only complaints we had were the lack of enthusiasm shown by check in staff at the office and the cleanliness of the cabin upon arrival. It had a decent surface cleaning at best on the inside and every piece of the porch furniture was covered with dust and pollen. Several of us had to wash all of the outdoor furniture down before using any of it. That was a bit of a pain but after that we had a great time and were very comfortable.

Glad you had such a memorable trip with your family!

We always try to make sure the cabin porches and furniture are clean and ready for your arrival but during certain seasons in the mountains, it is very difficult to keep the pollen and cobwebs completely at bay.

Thanks again for providing us with your feedback and we look forward to your next visit with us!

Left on 08/02/2010 for a stay in July 2010

This is the 3rd time I have stayed at Lookout Lodge and by far the best time I have had. The cabin was clean and well stocked with starter items. The rental company was pleasant and helpful with all our questions and needs.

Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your cabin. Our time here was an amazing and unforgetable experience. It brought together 17 women who for some, had not seen each other for over 20 years. It was a lot of catching up, laughing ad "feeling the love". We can't thank you enough for having this cabin to bring us all together. None of us, I think, could have imagined a better time. This has started a tradition that we have to continue for many years! The home was beautiful. More like a visit to someones home instead of a rental. All creature comforts were met, right down to matches for the grill. The view from sunup to past sunset was wonderful. The lights of Pigeon Forge twinkled like stars after dark and the sunrise was breath taking. We enjoyed the theatre room and wonderful decks.
The negative regarding our stay was that all five of us got the stomach flu, one or two at a time over a five day period. So, needless to say the five bathrooms were very much appreciated. Thanks so much for all the staff did!!

Left on 03/24/2010 for a stay in March 2010

My family celebrated our parents 50th wedding anniversary at Lookout Lodge. We throughly enjoyed the three levels and multiple living areas that gave kids, teenagers and adults plenty of space so that we did not feel crowded. The ample kitchen and dining area allowed us to prepare a special meal for our parents that all sixteen of us could enjoy. The rec room was used almost constantly. Our service was great and the view was beautiful (just wish it had been less cloudy!). We would love to stay there again. It is perfect for several families. The only we did not like was the sulphur water.

A Wonderful Family Christmas @ Lookout Lodge!!

Left on 01/17/2010 for a stay in December 2009

From the first call to Marty to ask questions and make the reservation, to the closing of the door the day we left Lookout Lodge...it was all a wonderful experience!
We brought 16 family members together from Michigan, Alabama, Florida and Tennessee for a Johnson Family Gathering at Christmas! It was a much anticipated event and our experience staying at Lookout Lodge did not disappoint. It is an incredibly beautiful home with all of the extras and amenities of a fine home. Well appointed furnishings and decor, fully stocked and spacious kitchen, generous dining table served us well for all our meals as well as the Christmas Cookie decorating contest! There was plenty of room for everyone to move about, play games in the game room, watch movies in the theater, enjoy family games in the living room or just to sit and read or nap by one of the two warm fireplaces. Of course the view from the spacious porches...was just so beautiful each morning and evening to look out on the mountains. And taking a walk was a lot of fun with the steep road grade. We had snow the day we arrived and built a snowman that was the hour glass for the week. It melted down as the days warmed up and the day we left was just a remnant of a snowball. We saw a black bear cub running across the road as we drove up to the Lodge one night. That was a treat! We now have so many wonderful family memories from the week together at Lookout Lodge to share and enjoy. We hope to come back! --The Johnson Family

Administrative Improvements Badly Needed for Door Lock System

Left on 11/11/2009 for a stay in November 2009

This is a great unit. HOWEVER, we had 2 VERY bad experiences with the the DOOR lock code provided by management. When we first inspected the unit, the door code provided would not work, called the managers and was given another bad door code. After the third try and over 20 minutes of frustration we finally got the door unlocked. When we arrived on our vacation the door code unlocked the door but the burglar alarm immediately went off. Called the office and got a recording and NO RESPONSE FROM A HUMAN. After listening to the deafening alarm for over 45 minutes, finally got a response from managers and got the alarm turned off. The alarm noise was terrible. Then we got a visit from the sheriff and had to prove we were not burglars. Management needs to give more accurate code numbers and instructions for the alarm system. This was a very bad experience.

      Family Reunion

Left on 07/30/2009 for a stay in July 2009

Reservations were easy and replies to question courteously answered. Made reservation in Oct. and had forgotten about the insurance when payment came due in June so was a little thrown but understand the need for it.
The facility was great, appreciated the fact it had air condidtioning although we mostly used it to dehumidify the air. The kitchen was well appointed and I ddin't need the crock pot I brought because one was there. The main floor bedroom was appreciated by the 83 yr young matricarch. The downstairs was turned over to the family with younger children so they had their own space. We really didn't make use of the home theater because there were plently of activities, games and people to keep us entertained The scenery was lovely and access to nearby grocery store was appreciated. We did Dollywood and hiking in the Great Smokies and one day of minature golf in Pigeon Forge. Plenty to do, one group went indoor skydiving. We enjoyed the ability to get away from the hubbub of Pigeon Forge area and get above it all. The least liked was probably having to clean up the trash after a critter got into the garbage can. We made sure it was well shut the next day. There were 13 of us and well accomodated.

Great cabin for a large family!!!!

Left on 07/01/2009 for a stay in June 2009

This cabin was absolutely perfect for our large family of 14.We have so many great memories that it's hard to decide what to talk about first!!I must start with Marty, the person who helped me book this cabin. He was extremely helpful and patient in answering all of my questions. Everyone in our family enjoyed having their own bedrooms and full baths. There was not one feature in this cabin that we did not get good use of.The theater room worked out great for the little ones watching movies and we all enjoyed the spacious hot tub. Don't let me forget to mention the game room. I even learned how to play Bumper Pool! We also loved the enormous deck space available, especially the deck area right off the dining room. We were all able to eat together using the large dining table and snack bar. The cabin was stocked with more than we expected which made it feel like home. During our week stay, we could not stop admiring the beautiful decor throughout. One feature that we also all loved was that this cabin was not hanging off the edge of a mountain like the one we stayed in three years prior. With little ones around,it's much more relaxing and stress free to know there is an actual yard outside. The entire trip was wonderful and if we ever return, we will for sure look this cabin up again. You just can't go wrong staying at the Lookout Lodge!!

I have stayed at several places throughout the years and this place is the best by far. The view is beautiful and the privacy is second to none. When you combine the private hot tub, game room, luxurious atmosphere, and the convenient location, there is not a better lodge in all of the Smokey Mountains. If you are looking for a lodge with lots of room and a quiet getaway, I highly recommend this place. I will definitely come back!!!

We spent a long weekend with friends from other parts of the country, and had a wonderful time. The scenery was beautiful with the fall colors and mountain views. We all could sit around the same table for meals. We had lots of time and space for games, staying up late talking, etc. We drove into Gatlinburg or Pigeon Forge each day for some activities there, spending the evenings back at "The Lodge". Had a great game of "Wiffle Ball" on the lawn in front of the cabin.

We rented this beautiful home (9 adults 4 children)for a family vacation. We chose this one because we did not want a resort type plus there was a yard for the kids. When we arrived we went from room to room saying WOW. Spent a great deal of our time out on the deck looking at the mountains (wonderful sunrise)and enjoying each other. The kitchen has everything you need and a large dining table. The kids (ages 1-7) keep asking to go again. We want to go back and would not stay anywhere else.

      Great Vacation Home

Left on 09/29/2008 for a stay in June 2008

My wife and I are travel agents and we have come to expect lower than what is advertised on most web sites and brochures.

Thankfully this was not the case with Lookout Lodge, which greatly exceeded our expectations. We had a week-long family reunion at Lookout Lodge in June with 2 families each with three children as well as both grandparents and we never felt cramped, or in each others way.

The lodge is amazing with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms (6) for everyone. There was everything a family could need to move in for the week. It was close to the Dollywood attractions and the National parks. I would highly recommend it to a large group who wants to enjoy a quiet week but still be close to the action.

We chose this mostly because of the spacious yard in front of the unit to allow the kids to roam free. Not all the rentals in this area can offer the amenities at Lookout Lodge as well as the view we had and the room for children to play.

We are already planning our next visit.
