There are much ice on the little hill road to romantic rendezvous so our car cannot go up, and Great Cabins said they are not responsible for it. So we had to take the baggage ourselves and walk onto the hill. No one helped us. And the first day, there were no hot water. Although they fixed the second day. There is little hot water which can let one person have a shower. And there are bugs in the house which make us have some bug bites on our arms.
Response from Great Cabins in the Smokies - 01/25/2013
Manager
While we are sorry for your disappointment, we made every attempt to warn you that a 4 Wheel Drive vehicle might be required to access this cabin. We even called the morning of your expected arrival to alert you again. Yet, you decided to book this mountain cabin in January and travel with only a 2 wheel drive vehicle. You also apparently expected valet service at the cabin to help unload and, unfortunately, this is not provided.
When we received the call regarding lack of hot water, we dispatched maintenance, who arrived at your cabin within 2-3 hours and had the hot water bad on within 20 minutes - it was only a breaker.
The only bugs out this time of year are lady bugs, which, I can positively assure you, do not bite.
Again, we are sorry for your lack of total satisfation but strived to do all that we realistically could to assist you. -

Hubby and I were in awe of the Smoky's. The cabin was beautiful. The cleanliness and other things that entailed housekeeping were fair...however,I would not hold that against the management. Would suggest spot checks on cabins without letting housekeepers know.Keep them on their toes. Too be able to lay in bed/sit on deck...watching the full moon over the mountains...my,my,my. Would highly recommend this cabin to any couple or small family. We hope to go back in the fall and hope to stay in the same cabin. Thank you for helping us make wonderful, lifetime memories.

Really loved our cabin it was absolutely beautiful all that i could ask for... best part was we weren't to far away from a store or attractions. Definately was peaceful and romantic for me and my hubby to spend a few great nights together. Unfortunately I had to leave a day early upon receiving news that my father had unexpectedly passed away. That was on a sunday and the office was closed I called on a monday and told them the situation and was told that i couldnt be refunded my money That is my only complaint about my stay.

We have lost count of the times we have stayed at Romantic Rendezvous...but this was the first one with our baby daughter (and she loved it!) We love coming in October to view the gorgeous scenery! This cabin is the perfect relaxing getaway for couples or small families! We love everything about it and feel so at home there! We were pleasantly surprised to see that they put in new carpet and family room furniture! Very nice! The staff at Great Cabins is very friendly and always makes us feel so welcome (especially Jamie!) We recommend Romantic Rendezvous and Great Cabins to everyone and we will continue coming back for years to come!

We were very disappointed with the cabin we stayed in. When we reviewed the one bedroom cabins we were made to believe that this was a mountain top cabin but when we got there it wasn't. I must say that overall it was quiet but it was disappointing to look off your balcony and see a main road. We were expecting to be in the Smoky Mountains and secluded as we were told we would be. I just think for the amount of money that was spent we should have had exactly what we were told. I am not one to complain but we were so anxious to get there and enjoy our weekend away together but only to be let down. We also were not impressed with how clean it was. We actually spent time cleaning the cabin before we did anything else. I noticed in the comment books at the cabin that most people had a good stay there, so I guess maybe we just had bad luck. Just very disappointed especially when we were so excited. :(

Shawn,
Needless to say, we were very surprised and disappointed to read that you didn't have a great stay with us. It's disappointing to us that, during your entire stay, you didn't call us at our office to let us know about the situation. We always want guests to feel that they are getting a great cabin for their money and would have tried our best to rectify your situation.

We visited to celebrate my 30th birthday and our daughter's 1st birthday. It was a much needed getaway. The cabin was wonderful! The hot tub was such a treat every evening . . . just so peaceful.
The cabin did have quite a few ladybugs inside, but we didn't mind . . . supposedly they are good luck! We saw a few wasps inside, but these sightings were without incident.
For those concerned about the drive way, don't try to turn around, just back in or out. It looks like the owners are working on expanding it, so hopefully soon it'll be a non-issue for all guests.
We can't wait to come back! I'm already looking at dates for our next trip and we'll definitely be using Great Cabins! -

me and my wife stayed here in feb 2010 the cabin is a wonderful getaway a home away from home the veiw of the mountains the layout of the cabin makes your stay very cozy, the driveway is a subject of its own very scary to get a full size truck turned around in but the key is to back it in and when it snows take it slow, come prepared during winter months for the roads to access isnt treated or plowed but once your in you will forget about the driveway,I recommend a stay here to anyone, and will always keep THE GREAT CABINS IN THE SMOKIES in mind for all my get away stays here.

The cabin is so nice and so comfortable! After long days at Dollywood, etc., it was great to come 'home' to a cozy nest in the woods. We even decided to stay an extra day just to enjoy a little more time there.
Directions were easy, not far at all to Pigeon Forge. The driveway is memory in itself though but just part of the fun. -

This cabin was absolutely beautiful! It was everything we expected and
more! We hardly wanted to leave the cabin! It was a great place to spend a
weekend together after getting engaged in Cades Cove! We had no
problems at all with this cabin and the service was great and the staff was
nice. This cabin was very private and beautifely decorated. The best part
was the hot tub and the bed was extremely comfortable! Some think the
drive way was difficult but we had no problems (we have a small car). We

We were given excellent service during our stay! My only complaint is that the website doesn't let you know the weekly rate is automatically given and when I called to ask if any of the discounts were included in the online price, I was told all of the specials would be taken off the price after the reservation was made. So I was expecting a little more off of the original price that the website gave.
The cabin itself was beautiful! It was well furnished and beautifully decorated. We used the jacuzzi almost every day and the only things that would have made the cabin perfect was the carpet being replaced, which management is planning on doing, both the shower and tub being cleaned more throughly, and all the screens being put in the windows. We cooked every day and really enjoyed using the kitchen! It has all the pans and dishes you need, we were even able to make muffins because they had a muffin pan!
The cabin is located off of a very strange little road, be prepared to make an incredible right turn! And the driveway is a little scary, but we got used to it. It is away from the main roads but there are alot of homes below and a few cabins next to this one. They are all situated well, but you can see your "neighbors" when you are on the back porch and in the jacuzzi. Although we didn't see anyone come out much. But the view was very nice and we really enjoyed watching the "smoke" from the moutains burn off each morning as the sun came up. Other than the dogs, it was a pretty peaceful valley. Don't expect to see much wildlife from this cabin, although we did have a very smart animal make it into the trash container.
We really enjoyed our trip and even started calling the cabin home within a few days. It was wonderful to come back to every day and we really enjoyed our stay there. Thank you to whoever furnished the cabin, it was very much like home and really made our stay enjoyable! We definitely look forward to coming back! -

Overall a very nice cabin. The bed sooooo comfortable. This is the second time we've rented from Great Cabins. The staff is most helpful & accomodating. We loved the view & the quietness. The driveway needs improvement. Not enough room to turn around for an SUV owner. The bathroom wasn't the cleanest. Mildew on the shower curtain, bathroom floor didn't appear to have been cleaned nor the tub/shower. The jacuzzi however & hot tub were exceptional. We will again book again with Great Cabins.

We had a magnificent time. When we arrived, there was a problem with the A/C. We reported it, and it was corrected by the time we got back from the grocery store. We were asked by office staff several times whether we had any more problems. They were great! The cabin was also great. We have stayed in several cabins in several areas, and this was as good as any we have been in. It is beautiful, and the view from the deck is magnificent. Internet access would have been helpful, but maybe it's absence was really a blessing in disguise(?). We really didn't miss it that much. We realized that clothing optional pool upstairs was more fun anyway. The driveway was a bit of a hair raiser, but after the first time, it was less scary, and more like an adventure (like the top of the roller coaster). If you get a chance, visit the Wahoo Zip Lines in Sevierville. It was probably the most fun we have had in years. You can bet we will be going back there when we are in town. When we left, we made the mistake that so many travelers do - we left some of our clothes behind. When we called to see if we could recover them, we encountered the most helpful folks possible. They called as soon as the clothes had made it to the office, and they were shipped out on the next business day. We can't say enough good things!

With 4 kids between us, this was a much needed 2nd honeymoon within our 1st year of marriage. It was even BETTER than the first!! Romantic Rendezvous was more than we expected from the website description. It was extremely clean and well kept and so homey - we really had to MAKE ourselves leave and come home. Though we went at the non-peak season (the trees were pretty bare) it was still a beautiful scene and we enjoyed the feeling of being out in the mountains, with the luxury of being only a few miles from the surrounding Sevierville, Pigeon Forge & Gatlinburg when we wanted to be. The Hot Tub was my husband's favorite thing! There's no doubt we'll be back!! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

We had yet another wonderful stay at the Romantic Rendezvous cabin the weekend of February 20th-22nd. We came to celebrate getting engaged here exactly one year ago! This cabin has been our "home away from home" for several years now. We love taking time out of our busy schedules to come and relax in the mountains and we could not ask for a better cabin! The gas fireplaces, hot tub, pool table, jacuzzi tub, and beautiful view all make this cabin a truly relaxing retreat! Romantic Rendezvous is also much more secluded than many cabins you will find in the area. We look forward to staying here for many years to come and would recommend this cabin to all!
