The cabin was very clean and well maintained. It was a little hard to find the first time as darkness was setting in. As we entered the cabin it was very welcoming. We were not there to watch television but had a hard time with the sets and dish. Would have liked a gas grill on the porch where gathering took place instead of on the drive parking area.

Left on 01/03/2013 for a stay in December 2012
Really enjoyed the time we spent at this cabin. It was clean and ready to accommodate our family for the Christmas holiday. The check in went well and the folks at the Great Cabins office were friendly and professional.
The weather was a bit dreary just about the entire time but luckily the snow held off until we departed. Otherwise a two-wheel drive vehicle could have a hard time getting up the road to the cabin.
The only issue was the mattresses were not too comfortable but then again we got through it.

Wanted you to know that we have assessed the mattresses and agreed that they had to go. We have new King mattresses ordered and will be replacing them by the end of January, 2013! Thanks again for your review and suggestions!

Left on 07/04/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We went as a group of 6 to this cabin and had an amazing time. We were greatly impressed with everything it had. We took advantage of the pool table, hot tub, indoor sauna, which were all working great. There are other cabins in the immediate area, but we were blocked off pretty well. We did not hear anyone else if there were even people staying at them. Everything in the cabin was very up-to-date and well-maintained. There wasn't really anything we felt was missing. Things like dishes, towels, etc. were all there.
The cabin's location was close enough to Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and the Smoky Mountains that it wasn't ever a pain to drive anywhere. It was also far enough off the road but not too far or high to be annoying. There is a dollar general close by (and Kroger's 15 minutes toward Pigeon Forge). A fair warning that the cabin isn't very soundproof, so keep this in mind if you've got a lot of people. I had brought earplugs since I tended to sleep earlier than the rest.
I thought the price was very good for all the amenities it had. Would definitely stay here or with another cabin from this rental company again!Response from Great Cabins in the Smokies - 07/05/2012

Perfect for our family of five. Cabin is not as big as it looks in pics, but it was spacious enough for us. Both tubs in the bathrooms are jetted. It was very clean and there were plenty of towels. The hot tub was great but it was on n open deck with no roof. I would recommend this cabin for a family but not more than one couple seeing you can hear everything going on upstairs from any point downstairs. Upon arrival, our door code didn't work. We called the after hours maintenance line and someone called back witin minutes and gave us a code that did work. Location is good. 4wd would definitely be needed during winter weather. We would stay here again.

Left on 01/04/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Great Cabins in the Smokies made our trip as easy going as I could have imagined. Our check in was quick and easy, as well as purchasing our stay. Sanctuary was a dream come true. We originally had looked for a 1 bedroom chalet/cabin, but when all were taken we decided to go with a two bedroom and could not have been more happy with our decision! This cabin is so clean, full of activities, and cozy. The only issue was that the mattresses were a tad hard, but other than that there are no complaints. I was so pleased to find a fully equipped kitchen, down to measuring utensils. The sauna was wonderful after a stressful year of work and college classes, as well as the hot tub and jacuzzi. We never even left the cabin and never were bored. We had a blast playing pool and poker and sitting on the porch enjoying the wonderful view. The cabin definitely deserves 5 stars as well as the management! Thank you for a great time and I will be sure to recommend your company to all of my family and friends!

Cabin was perfect. The location was very peaceful and being in a gated community made us feel a little more secure. Not so much a criticism but more of an observation is that the turn into the parking area at the cabin was a little difficult to enter and this cabin was not aDa friendly. Other than that everything was just what we were looking for in a vacation rental.

Professional on-line presence and staff at check in! We searched lots of cabins and were very pleased with our choice- Sanctuary is a beautiful cabin w/ all the top line amenities- our favorite was the sauna and private deck w/ hot tub- all clean and in good working order.
The gated section is tucked away for privacy yet close to all the local attractions- somewhat difficult parking w/ XL truck- but that's to be expected- This was our first time to stay in the Wears Valley area...
We would stay here again and have suggested to friends already- -

The cabin is designed and located for comfort and a retreat from the crowds. This was our second stay and we were not disappointed. Great location! Great cabin! Our only complaint is the mattress on the downstairs bed is getting a little worn and needs replacement. Also for the cost of the cabin you would expect a wireless Internet connection to be provided.

This was a wonderful experience. The cabin was well-equipped and had everything we needed for the 3 days we were there. Everything was spotlessly clean. I will say the road to the cabins is very narrow and we were glad we were here in the off season as there wasn't a lot of traffic. The only thing we would have changed was that we were too early to see the rhododendrun which surrounds the cabin in bloom! We were traveling with an elderly parent and they were able to accommodate us with early checkin. We will certainly come again!

Our cabin was beautiful and peaceful. It was clean. Loved relaxing on the porch and there was plenty of room for the kids. This was our first mountain and cabin experience and we were suprised at the room, cleanliness, and convienence to attractions, yet still up in the mountains to feel "away" when desired. Extra pillow cases for the extra pillows in the closet would have been helpful. That's all I could say negative. We used the visitor reference notebook frequently for food and even for a doctor's visit on the trip. Would definitely come back to stay with your company and recommend to friends.

Left on 07/30/2010 for a stay in June 2010
The cabin is beautiful and in a very peaceful setting however we did have issues. The beds, especially the master, were horrible! They were thin, hard and squeaky in fact my husband ended up on the sofa which was the most comfortable. We also had issues with some lights being out and a filthy shower curtain. These items took several days if at all to be taken care of. We will be back to the area but will not stay here again.
Response from Great Cabins in the Smokies - 07/30/2010

We're very sorry for your displeasure with the cabin. We received a call from you during your stay about a couple of light bulbs that were out and a dirty shower curtain. The light bulbs were replaced later that same day and the shower curtain, although we found the 'dirt' to just be some hard water spots, was also replaced for you the very next day. During the stay, nothing at all was said to us about the uncomfortable master bed.
This master bed is a King bed with pillow top mattress. The bed and mattress are approximately 3 years old. We have had no other complaints from other guests about this mattress. I will have it checked out by our staff, but am sorry that it didn't meet your expectations. -

Our family was in desperate need of a vacation. I found the Sanctuary cabin on line. It was one of the best choices I ever made. It is a beautiful cabin!! It looked alot like the pictures on line. Words can't describe how nice this cabin is. I would recommend it to anyone. My kids and I loved the hot tub on the deck. It was one of our favorites. The only part that was scary was the one way road up the mountain to get to the cabins, but we adjusted quickly. We talk about how fun that trip was and daydream about being back. We stayed in the Sanctuary from October 18 thru October 25 2009 and the cabin was wonderful. It was very secluded, quiet and easy to get to. We loved the furnishings and everything was extremely clean and seemed to be so well taken care of. We never got into the hot tub since the weather was rather cool, at least for floridians, but it was clean as well. There was an issue with the tv reception and after notifying Great Cabins it was promptly remedied. If I must find fault with something it would be the can opener. We bought a new one at Dollar General (conveniently located not far away for 2 bucks. Problem solved.
This was our second time renting from Great Cabins in the Smokies and even better than the last. Thankyou, and we will be back.

We stayed at this cabin June 26-July 5 '09
The cabin was very beautiful to say the least. I loved the looks inside, and out. We had several problems, but we was on vacation, So we did not call anyone to actually come to the cabin. 1.We did not have any telephone line the whole time. We had cell phones so it didn't make a huge difference, but we want to use it several times out of conveniences, because of my cell losing signal here, and there.
The ceiling fans squeaked in the bedrooms to the point that we had to turn them off to sleep.
The hot tub wasn't to our liking at all. The water looked fine til you kicked the jets on, then the water went white, murky, and smelt awful, to the fact that we could not get in. Smelt like very strong chemicals. It was impossible to use the high jets. You could stand it with the jets on low, but as much as we LOVE hot tubs, It just wasn't worth it. I called the office several times, of this, and I was told to remove the cover and kick the jets on, and that it would give it the chance to air out. We done this for several days. No help. Still smelt the same. My fiance may of got in it once, but straight back out, and he will not stay in a cabin that doesn't have a decent looking hot tub on the pictures, because he loves them!
The gated in part about the cabin was very nice! We didn't like the drive much at first, but we got use to it. It was his one and only real vacation, as he works in the coal mines, and although at times we can take off and go to a cabin for two nights, We will never get the chance to go for longer without him taking time off, Which will not happen, with the economy. No one will miss work if they don't have to. With the way things are, that was the longest, vacation that we will ever have, so it meant a lot to us to relax, not get upset and enjoy the time we had. Things could of been better, but we made the best of the time we had. -

Heather,
We've had the water leak occur with several guests and have determined it results from an minor installation problem with that tub. We are going to be installing a new shower curtain which will prevent this from occurring in the future.
We are sorry for the inconvenience this caused you during your stay. -

This was a valentine getaway cabin for two couples. It was a wonderful experience. The cabin looked exactly like the pictures on the website. Everything was extremely neat and clean. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking utensils which was a plus. The jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom was amazing for a bubble bath. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg was ten minutes away so everything was close by.The only complaint about the cabin is the fact that the walk-in sauna did not work when we tried to use it and there is no fireplace in the master bedroom as indicated in the description. Also please beware of the water! It smelled really bad it could have been a factor that we were up in the mountains but the water smelled like sewerage water.

I liked this property very much and had a very nice time with my friends. This is the first time i'm staying in a vacation rental cabin instead of a hotel-and we loved the cabin. The best thing was the pictures in their website matched the cabin, and we were not disspointed.
My request for the cabin rental officials is to have a proper direction board to their private gate accessed property b'coz we were a kind of lost for about an hour in finding the property. There was no board in the hill top road saying the great cabins or their door number has to take the left there. The property was located in a beautiful area but it was hard to reach there.
The other issue we faced was the bad smelling water in the bath rooms and jacuzzi. We were not able to use the jacuzzi. And we were not able to reach the office people becoz of the time constaraint. But when i called them when back from our vacation they said that they would have checked it out if we would had called them. So, this should not be an issue.Make sure you let the maintanence people know if you had some problem.
But at the end of the trip we really enjoyed staying in great cabins! -

I was extremely nervous renting a cabin by just seeing some pictures. We've had experiences where the pictures look great then you get there and the pictures seem to leave out the not so pretty parts. Well that was not the case with our "Sanctuary" cabin. It was even more beautiful then expected. We were so excited we didn't know what to do first...go in the sauna...the hottub...play pool..sit by the fire place and have a glass of wine. Well, we did it all...almost every night.
The weather was perfect, it was nice and quiet, but yet it didn't take us long to get somewhere.
It has been by far the best time we've ever had. Our wedding was perfect and staying at the cabin the rest of the week just made it even better. I've never stayed anywhere that was so perfect. It seems they is always something to complain about, but we really had absolutely no complaints.
When we look back at the time we were married in TN we remember an extremely fun, relaxing, and the most romantic time ever!
If times weren't so rough we'd be down there right now...staying in our "sanctuary".
Thank you for such a wonderful time that we'll never ever forget!

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your stay at Sanctuary and we are glad you enjoyed the newness of the cabin. I am sorry to hear you think the home is not well designed and can assure you that the leak from the second floor tub was investigated immediately upon getting your feedback from the comment card left in the cabin. This cabin accommodates up to 6 people. It has 2 large bedrooms, each with a King size bed, dresser and night stand. There is also a Queen size sleeper sofa in the living room.

We spent a wonderful week at the Sanctuary cabin. We loved the seclusion it offered, especially the gated entrance. The cabin was great - our 2 boys loved having the upstairs bedroom to share and the pool table in the balcony game room. We were close enough to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, yet away from all of the traffic. I reccommend Sanctuary as a great place to stay!

We stayed in the cabin for 1 week and it was wonderful. Upon arrival the cabin was even better than what we saw in the pictures. Their was a small plumbing problem we called for maintenance and he arrived right away and fixed the problem. This was so much better than a hotel.
The only problem was when we first arrived trying to find the road that leads to the cabin, not well marked.
We enjoyed the experience so much that we are going back again this year.
Would recommend this to all.
