The apartment is located right in the heart of the French Concession, just opposite the main entrance of the Fuxing Park. The hip Xintiandi and Tianzifang areas are all within walking distance. It is easily accessible to almost anywhere by subway and bus.

My husband and I stayed at this apartment for 8 nights in March 2013. On the plus side, Joann could not have been kinder or more helpful to us. The morning after we arrived, she came back to the apartment and walked with us to a rail station ticketing office to help us buy our train tickets to Beijing because she knew no one could speak English there.
She was also very helpful during the planning of our trip, and because there was construction on the street outside the apartment, she also generously arranged for a driver to pick us up at the airport to compensate for the inconvenience and noise.
As others have said, the apartment is located within a 10 minute walk to a subway station and the upscale Xintiandi shopping area, and across the street from a large park.
The downside for some people with mobility problems might be the steps inside the apartment, including a winding staircase to the bedroom, and also more stairs inside the bedroom closet, which was actually a partially finished staircase.
The bathroom is so small that it cannot accommodate a sink, and makes it almost impossible to dress or undress in. It opens directly into the kitchen which has several windows and skylights that are not covered and within clear view of the neighbors.
Sometimes staying in a "unique living experience" can add to the enjoyment of a vacation, however, the overall lack of cleanliness of this apartment was far too disconcerting for us to dismiss. This is one of the basics that you expect when you rent an apartment, and was more important to us than an inconvenient floor plan or the lack of window covers. -

Stayed at this property for four nights over Christmas holiday. The location of the apt is very good, right across from Fuxing Park, and less than 10 mins walking distance to xintiandi, which has a subway stop. The apt is in a western-style mansion that's passed it's heyday but still retained its charm. The apt is surprisingly quiet given its location at the corner of an intersection of two major streets, and it is very elegantly decorated and well equipped with everything we needed. A very lovely experience overall.

It is a convenience place to stay in Shanghai. The decoration and the apartment itself made me very comfortable. It is just located beside the main street but it is very quiet inside. Facilities are also great.
More important, Joann is very helpful which make my trip in sh had good memories -

After staying in Joann's Studio apartment in September we tried her other property in November, which im happy to say sticks with Joann's high standard of attention to detail. She seems to try and think of everything in her rentals. This one is a little bigger than the Studio as you would expect and has a lot of space for you to hide luggage away. It really does feel very homely in this place actually. The kitchen is big and has most kitchen utensils that you would need and the Location is once again excellent. Everything you need within 5 mins of walking. Metro very close and i was surprised that i was as quite as it was inside with it being near to the road but you dont hear to much noise once inside. Another great stay in Shanghai thanks to Joann and I cannot recommend her properties enough. If you are planning a stay in Shanghai then you really should consider one of Joanns places as you really wont get anything better especially for price

This apartment is located across the street from Fuxing Park in the heart of one of the nicest neighborhoods in Shanghai. It is convenient to the Metro Lines 1 and 10. The apartment features near new furnishings, cable TV, washer/dryer and full kitchen. The owner was quite helpful with all of my needs. This would be a great place for someone who wants to stay where the locals live but also wants and needs all the modern amenities. I will return.

This appartment was a surprise. I was hoping that it would be something similar based ont eh pictures but the details were far better than expected. The price is all inclusive and unlike most serviced appratments included things like washing powder and fabric conditioner. The decor wasn't just functional it was charming and tasteful and comfortable.
Located in the busy centre of shanghai its really well connected regardless where you want to be in Shanghai though evening traffic can be a pain regardless where you're staying. In terms of night life the apartment is located between two hip night spots, Sinan Mansions (less touristy and just across the street) and Xintiandi (more famous).
The welcome pack provides you with all the information i could imagine people will need to get them started in shanghai and the local area and other highlights you might want to visit in Shanghai.Response from JoAnn - 10/03/2012
