Overall this place was fantastic. We stayed here with my family on President's Day weekend. It was exactly as portrayed in the pictures and description. It was clean, cozy, well insulated, and very spacious. All appliances were in working condition. It's about 35 minutes to China Peak from here. The only things I want to note are as follows:
*there is no cell phone reception here whatsoever* Luckily there is a land line (for local calls only), as well as wi-fi for internet, but if you want to make/receive any phone calls on your cell, you will have to drive about 1/2 mile away from the property towards town in order to get reception
-There is only 1 t.v., and it is upstairs, not downstairs in the main living room (which I found to be odd)
-There is no toaster, so if you want anything toasted, you should bring your own
-There is only one bathroom upstairs, although 3 out of the 4 bedrooms are upstairs, so someone will likely have to go downstairs to shower
-While there are many couches throughout the home, none of them are pull-out so keep in mind when considering the sleeping arrangements

Very upgraded home, nice deck surrounded by trees, clean. We've been coming to Shaver for 5 years, and this is the nicest, cleanest, most upgraded home we've ever stayed in. Only negative thing I would say is that there is not a pantry available to use in the kitchen, so both families had food/cans/drinks stacked all over the floor. Normally we split the pantry between families. Weird for such a remodeled kitchen, there is no place to put your food. (unless you just leave it all on the island/counters.)

My children, grandchildren, and I love this house. This is the second time we have spent our vacation in the Alder home. It is comfortable, clean, and accommodates a large family. Shaver Lake Vaction Rentals staff has always been cheerful and very helpful.
