Description from the owner
Jordanthorpe Farm is a most characterful, historic 17thC Grade II listed ancient farmhouse, situated on the edge of Sheffield, very close to the Derbyshire border. The farmhouse oozes character with heavily beamed ceilings and stone flagged floors. Its central location in the country makes it very suitable as a venue for cosy family gatherings, for birthdays, anniversaries, etc., for get togethers and reunions for friends and colleagues, and also for small hen and stag nights. We have connections with a fine dining company who can dress the farmhouse beautifully with candles, lilies and lanterns, and provide gourmet catering and table servic...Read more

Large property, ideal for groups, unusual layout, unusual furnishings, unusual location - a good time was had by all! Property feels like it is in a time warp, antiquities, mis-matched floral prints and lots of knick knacks. You could easily get lost for days trying to find some of the rooms via staircases and through doors. For size of property it needs more bathrooms. For the quality of the 'package' it is a bit overpriced.

Jordanthorpe is a lovely find and I and my friends look forward to our next visit. We loved the shabby chic, and it is a brilliantly placed and well stocked place to stay. The owners are brilliantly helpful, and it is close to lots of amenities.

This place oooses charm, and was the perfect venue for our get together. The epitome of a country cottage with plenty of space for relaxing and entertaining. It isn't in any way pretentious, you just feel instantly at home.
I was most impressed by the available facilities, the aGa and rangemaster make cooking a pleasure, not to mention the magic cupboard after mealtimes...
We used the space inside and out, and although the weather this year has been far from great, we also had an evening outside around the chiminea..!!
What else can I say, it's beautifully rustic, my bed was comfortable, linen, towels, firewood and all the necessaries were provided (even dishwasher tabs).
I would wholeheartedly recommend this place if this is your cup of tea.

Jordanthrope farm was a great place for a get together. The house is very big and could easily fit 14 of us in. It is very secluded and the perfect place to get away and relax. The house feels very homely, we were a particular fan of the kitchen and the very grand dining room. Even though you have to drive to get anywhere (due to the location on a dual carriageway) local shops were a maximum of 5 minutes drive away and the house is in a great location for Bakewell and Sheffield.

We stayed here last weekend to celebrate mine and my friend's 30th birthday and we had a great time. The farmhouse is really cosey and we felt completely at home. It is a really nice place to socialise with friends. Our favourite thing about the whole weekend was sitting in the beautiful dining room, with a roaring fire, eating a meal with our 14 guests. The farmhouse is a great location to get out into the peak district and we were lucky enough to have great weather which meant we enjoyed a fabulous walk up Mam Tor. I highly recommend this place, and before we'd even left, my friends wanted me to book it for another weekend.

A group of us stayed for a weekend at Jordanthorpe Farm and all had a brilliant time here - the owners are very helpful and kind and left us with a lot of information on the house and the surrounding area which was very handy (also, thanks for the tea and coffee and chocolates, very nice touch!) The location is great - close enough to Sheffield, but also with access to the peak district for getting some country air.
The house was very spacious, there was more than enough room for all of us (and we had an extra guest on a campbed too).
The house is well- equipped, especially the kitchen! There is every piece of cutlery and cooking utensil you could need for a big meal... which is lovely had at the grand dining room table. Also there were a number of televisions, games, books and internet connection for keeping us entertained.
The garden is a good size too... we were lucky enough to have good weather and made use of the large BBQ... and also the chimenea when it got cold on an evening.
The house is full of character and has many hidden nooks and crannies... it definitely has a home from home feel, we were all very comfortable here and slept well in our beds.
All in all - we had a great time at Jordanthorpe Farm and would definitely recommend it as a place for to stay ... we enjoyed relaxing times as well as fun times and the house was perfect for both. -

We needed to be in Sheffield for 7 days so the accommodation was perfectly located for us. It was spacious with plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate us all. The garden was perfect for the children to play in, very safe and no other houses nearby. Hopefully we will be re-booking for next year.

This ancient atmospheric farmhouse surpassed all our expectations. We could not have found a more well equipped warm and welcoming property. Our family came together to celebrate a 60th birthday and happy times were spent reminiscing in the cosy aga warmed kitchen. The magnificent dining room just lent itself for a special birthday banquet.
Catering was made especially easy with both an aga and a Range Master, plus there was every conceivable utensil at hand!
Bedrooms were comfortable and a good nights sleep was had by all. -

Jordanthorpe Farm was ideal for us with "children" at Sheffield University - handy for both city and Peak district. Great dining room and large comfortable lounge perfect for big groups. Bedrooms very comfortable and flexible. Our only concerns were closeness to bypass and having a resident cat (as we had a dog!) but both were fine - house tucked away and quiet and easy to keep pets apart. Will return!

What a fabulously different house this is! Rooms everywhere with a very large comfy Lounge and a very characterful Dining Room. We never got to see all of the rooms but our bedroom (en-suite) was just lovely with very homely little touches like fresh flowers and nice ornaments.
The bed was so-ooo comfortable.
It is a great place for a big family gathering with having so many bedrooms and places to lounge. The house just oozes character, with two staircases, loads of oak beams, real fires, an aga as well as a 'normal gas cooker. Its location is quiet and yet very well located for trips to Sheffield or lovely Derbyshire. The brilliant Dining Room is a favourite and part of its character is the low doorway into it ... so don't forget to duck. -

Ideally situated historic old farmhouse- my only grouse was that I was cold - but then I am aways cold and it was not the warmest winter - my fault, not the house!!! Loved being centrally placed for M1, the wonderful Meadowhall, and Derbyshire hills for walking as well as being able to visit family and friends in the area.

A charming, character filled property with all the homely comforts required. We had a great stay and would love to go back and celebrate the New Year or a special occasion with family and friends. There are so many rooms and little places to hide, I am sure the children will find it most enchanting.

we stayed here when we met up with old friends for a 'catch-up' and we cannot speak highly enough of the farmhouse. a listed building, in parts dating to elizabethan times, it has oodles of character and positively welcomes you in and tells you to ejnoy yourself and we did!!
despite its age, it has all mod cons. we cooked on the aga-new experience! although there was a modern cooker too.
loved the imagination that went into it's decoration, and the log burning fire which alas, we didn't need to use as we hit the good weather. we explored derbyshire. chatsworth house, hardwick hall, afternoon teas in lovely little shops, went shopping in bakewell and had to go to the famous meadowhall as well as lying in the orchard, just sunbathing and relaxing.
there was nothing that we did not like about this cottage and we are already planning our next reuion there. fabulous, fabulous place.
