Description from the owner
Private 2-story Guest House has Old World charm (sleeps up to 8) in Vermont's NEK. Beautiful, charming, peaceful. A very healing & fun place to let go, unwind, de-stress and relax. The LARGE picture window in the Upstairs Great Room looks out over our West pasture onto a changing mountain view -- you may catch sight of a moose or deer. In winter we get more snow, than surrounding regions, at this elevation, and the VAST Trail is 400 feet away. Cross-country ski, snowshoe, sled, or go to nearby ski areas (downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, plus dog-sledding), or catch some ice-fishing at many of the nearby ponds & lakes. Additional Location Information
This vacation Guest House is centrally located in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom with the VAST trail near the property. There are many lakes & ponds, as well as hiking, snow-mobiling, downhill & cross country skiing, snowshoeing, sledding, fishing, and world-class mountain biking events (Kingdom Trails) nearby.
The Guest House is situated on a 10+-acre farm with a fenced in organic vegetable garden for our guests during the warm months. This healing place is a wonderful place to slow down, unwind, de-stress, have fun and spend time indoors, or out in nature. The House looks out over the West Pasture and vegetable gardens (the farm areas & pastures are private property -- no access permitted). The LARGE Picture Window in the upstairs Great Room faces West, where you have beautiful mountain views. In the summer you can hear the woodland creek, bull frogs, and the beautiful tinkling music of the spring peepers. In winter you can go snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or snowmobiling on the nearby (4500 feet away) VAST Trail. Local ski areas offer challenging downhill skiing, dog sledding, snowshoeing, and miles of groomed cross-country ski trails. In spring you can go to NH to watch -- or participate in -- the Tuckerman's Ravine skiing spectacle -- with many in their T-shirts.
Around the corner is a wonderful near-private state park with 3 ponds (2nd one has Loons), for swimming, hiking, exploring, and fishing. A mile away is the world-famous Bread & Puppet theater with indoor & outdoor performaces and music concerts in the summer. St. Johnsbury, Newport and the Canadian border are about a half-hour away. There is a wide-variety of dining choices and activities to choose from. Be sure to visit Dog Mountain/the Dog Chapel/the Stephen Huneck Gallery in St. Johnsbury if you love dogs.

BostonCharming Getaway in the North East Kingdom
Left on 02/25/2011 for a stay in February 2011
If you are the kind of person who enjoys simplicity and charm then Mount Harmony Farm will not disappoint.
Located in the picturesque Northeast Kingdom, Mount Harmony Farm is ideally settled among the rolling hills and distant mountains of northern Vermont and is a short drive from Burke Mountain (notable for it's uncrowded slopes and excellent views). The farm itself is home to a shy Donkey, a curious Mule and a blind Horse. It was too cold to visit the animals during our stay however they seemed friendly and could often be found exploring the field in front of the guest house.
Separate from the main house, the guest house seems to have everything a human being might need to rest and relax. The first floor is designed with an open concept and is much larger than the outside might suggest. It includes a wood stove heater with plenty of wood (for those cold winter months), a full kitchen, a dining room as well as a living room. The entire cottage is wired with cable t.v., flat screen t.v., a dvd player and wireless internet. All of the bedrooms are located upstairs and each has it's own independent electric heating system. There are two bathrooms (one full and one half) which we found to be more than adequate for the four of us. Also featured on the second floor is a giant (100x60?) picture window overlooking the fields, rolling hills and distant mountains. Located in that same room is a galley kitchen and mini fridge perfect for cooking up a quick snack or cold beverage. Coffee makers abound and there is even a grinder for brewing a fresh cup.
But what truly makes Mount Harmony Farm so special is the two owners and innkeepers, Marc and Stephanie. They were both very welcoming and went out of there way to ensure we had a happy and relaxing stay.
We very much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend Mount Harmony Farm as a quiet and charming getaway for anyone in need of some peace. We will definitely be returning!
