Light, bright, airy and spacious, Shorewood House has an elegant, yet comfortable, atmosphere. Beautifully restored and tastefully furnished with an... eclectic mix of antique furnishings and carefully chosen nautical mementos, Shorewood House is a delightful Nova Scotia vacation home that showcases the various travels of its sailing owners. It is impossible not to feel the “good vibes” emanating from this charming property.

Offering much more than a cottage; the ground floor features a large elegantly furnished living room with Apple Internet TV, an adjoining covered veranda, a spacious formal dining room, a 2 piece powder room with laundry facilities and a large modern eat-in kitchen with French doors leading out to an expansive deck with propane BBQ.

Upstairs, there are three large bedrooms – two with double beds and the other with a queen size bed. There is also a four piece bathroom with Jacuzzi tub, a computer centre with high speed broadband wi-fi, and the ‘Captain’s study’ with a single pine bed and cool vintage global memorabilia.

The expansive grounds are shaded by mature indigenous trees including Cherry, Black Locust, Maple and White Ash. Comfortable lawn chairs are everywhere so you can relax and enjoy the comings and goings of the waterfront or watch the migratory birds who also call this “home”.

Shorewood House is located in the heart of Shelburne’s Historic District. A stone’s throw from the harbour and a short drive to a number of deserted
beaches , Shorewood House offers a good base from which to explore the South Shore. It is approximately an hour to Yarmouth and two hours to Halifax, with lots of interesting places to explore along the way.


The guesthouse is about 100 meters up from the harbour where there is a boardwalk, a swimming area and park. Over 16 km long, Shelburne Harbour is a large natural deep-water harbour that supports a number of small fishing villages, the town of
Shelburne , some lobster fishing wharfs, the Shelburne Harbour Yacht Club and Islands Provincial Park .
