This light, airy and comfortable property has three bedrooms - one double with en-suite, a further double and a twin – making this an ideal spot for a family or a group of friends. In the centre of the rural village of Sheriff Hutton, is this spacious detached bungalow which offers comfortable home-from-home accommodation. With large bay windows and an open fire in the spacious living room, traditionally styled bedrooms and a pleasant, sunny rear garden and patio, this property is full of timeless charm. Lovely views of the Sheriff Hutton Castle ruins add to the atmosphere of the property. Local amenities are plentiful and close by, wh...ilst visitors can enjoy the attractions offered by a wide selection of local towns such as Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough.

Amenities: Oil central heating with open fire in living room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher, 32” flat screen TV, DVD, radio/CD player. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen inc. in rent. Off road parking for 3 cars. Lawned garden with patio, garden furniture and BBQ. Sorry, no smoking and no pets. Shop 3 mins walk, pub 1 min walk. Note: Some road noise may be experienced during busy times.

Region: The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Town: The peaceful village of Sheriff Hutton is located amidst the gentle hills between York and Malton. Steeped in history, this lovely little settlement has a ruined castle which was built in 1382 and housed the English King Richard III until 1483. In addition to this is the even older Norman church dating from 1100 and still retains its enclosed pews today. One of the two village pubs dates back to the 17th Century, and both establishments serve food. This charming little village, set around the small square, is just 11 miles from the city of York and is also within easy driving distance of the North York Moors steam railway in Pickering and the East coast seaside towns of Bridlington, Hornsea and Scarborough. All prices are inclusive of the booking fee. The "Min. Per Night" prices quoted are based on the weekly rental price, they are not applicable for short breaks. See our short break policy or ask for further details.
Winter Short Breaks (WSB) are available at many properties in the "Winter" period - subject to availability. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. Off Season Breaks (OSB) are available at many properties in parts of the "Low" and "Mid" periods - subject to availability. The price for a 3 night break is either 75% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. OSBs can be booked within a calendar month of the start date of the holiday. "Last Minute Breaks" (LMB) are available at most properties throughout the "LOW", "MID", "HIGH", "PEAK", "XMAS" and "NEW YEAR" periods. The price for a 3 night break is either 65% of the normal weekly rental or, if it is higher, the quoted Winter Short Break price. Extra nights are charged pro rata of the weekly rental. LMBs can be booked within one week of the start date of the holiday.

  When we saw the ruins of the castle at the bottom of the garden we knew we had chosen well, even before we went inside the cottage!
  The house is in an excellent location, right opposite the pub, 2 minutes walk from the well stocked general store, 10 minutes walk from the fascinating and welcoming old church and within good striking distance of everything we wanted to see.
  It is extremely comfortable, warm and well equipped with a lovely light lounge, efficient kitchen and plenty of room for families (although there were only 3 of us!)
  The garden is a good size and it was very pleasant to be able to sit on the patio and enjoy the view of the castle in the evening sunshine.
  All in all we had a great week and will definitely visit again one day.

  The service was excellent, the house was very comfortable everything you require is there and more. It is situated in the centre of the village opposite the Highwayman Inn which serves meals, postoffice and shop around the corner. There is a lovely walk up to the Castle from the side of the house. The people in the village are very friendly.
