Lovely period house with loads of character in a nice part of Derbyshire. The house is well equipt with everything a family needs on a sef catering holiday. It has feel of grandness but is so warm and cosy. You will not be dissappointed with theis property if you want a get away to spend some time with the family.

lake districtLovely location, great views, delicious cake on arrival.
Left on 01/09/2013 for a stay in October 2012
Lovely location, great views and sunsets. Homemade cake went down a treat on arrival.
Plenty of room for 9 of us to spread out.Laundry room an asset.
Some of the ensuites require updating and the boiler above one of the master bedrooms made an awful noise-we had to switch it off overnight.
Cleanliness could have been better in the kitchen (oven/cutlery drawers etc)
Some chairs need replacing in dining room and lighting dim in the lounge for reading.Bigger tv would be good.
Overall a wonderful place to stay -just needs a bit of tweaking!
Games room useful but table tennis table and equipment ready for replacing. -

Weston super MareA fantastic well furnished farmhouse which was extremely comfort
Left on 01/08/2013 for a stay in November 2012
I booked on the internet and everything was straightforward. The house was amazing - it felt like home and it was so well equipped especially the kitchen. The rooms were spacious and the beds very comfortable. It is set in a lovely part of Derbyshire with lots to see and do! We had the farmhouse for a long weekend so that we were able to attend a wedding at Shottle Hall. There were about 13 of us for lunch on Sunday and we managed to eat around the dining table.
When we arrived a tray was set for tea and a sponge cake left for us to enjoy! A lovely touch! We had use of the games room which we took advantage of on Sunday and the fact that we could have the use of a log fire! Brilliant!
The only downside was that the oven door didn't shut properly. We were told to park at the back but we couldn't get there direct from the house - we had to go through the boiler room! I would recommend that there are some spare bulbs!
My grand daughter was being pulled up through the hallway on her trunkie and said it was the best day of her life!!!
I would recommend the accomodation to anyone and hope that we can go back one day!

London, United KingdomBeautiful cottage with stunning views
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in September 2012
8 members of my family have just come back from spending a fantastic weekend in the Peak District staying at Maniford Farmhouse near Shottle.
This cottage really is delightful. The views across the valley are lovely, the garden is beautifully kept, and the cottage is large and full of character. It really is perfect for a group of this sort of size. There are 3 large tables to dine around - in the dining room, the kitchen and outside on the patio. The bedrooms are spacious - including 4 poster beds in 2 of the rooms.
We really couldn't fault it, and it was a lovely touch to have a delicious home-made cake waiting for us and when we arrived! -

LondonComfortable practical family house
Left on 09/01/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We spent a week in this house and it was a lovely practical house, which you didn't have to feel too precious about. It was in a lovely location with every room having wonderful views of the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. The rooms were light (large windows) and graciously furnished and there was a pretty garden, with a games room nearby. Very suitable for children. We only had a couple of minor niggles: some windows were stuck shut with paint, the most important being in the kitchen, which meant there was only one small window that would open - not enough on a hot day; there were no instructions on how to operate machines, but in the end we worked it out. One important niggle was that the particular bed we were in was less than adequate: a nice four-poster, but a thin board had been screwed over the slats and the mattress was inadequate, so, although we slept fine, we woke up aching!! No one else complained of their beds though, so perhaps this was the only one (I think the room was called Lily, which was in every other way we thought the best room). Be advised to get food from the marvellous Cathy (Shottle's Pantry) - she will bring absolutely delicious home made food (lamb tagine, boeuf bourguignon, shpeherd's pie, wonderful cakes, etc) in whenever ordered and this makes a family get-together a lot less hassle. Cathy is a gem - order food to take home with you for your freezer!!

Briston, Melton Constable, NorfolkA very good property for a family like us with dogs.
Left on 04/17/2012 for a stay in February 2012
Agood property with plenty of crockery, saucepans and dishes etc. Location quite remote - we had snowy weather and slippery access to property, although our 4-wheel drive vehicles were very useful! T.V. was a bit small and the lighting in the lounge was poor. All in all a good holiday in a lovely property for a family.

LondonLovely House, Nice Weekend
Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in November 2011
The house was lovely and very spacious. There was tea, biscuits and homemade cake provided for us which was very welcome after our long drives there. The shared games room wit the other cottages on site was fun, although not as well-maintained as the house. The location was good as, although this house is in the country the roads were good and it was easy to find. Our only complaint was that we had a little difficulty getting into the house due to a faulty lock, poor outside lighting and unclear instructions. However, this was a very minor issue which was quickly resolved and did not prevent us having a lovely weekend.
