Hemford is a tiny village located at the top of the Hope Valley and is at the centre of some of Shropshire's most spectacular scenery. Perfect for parties of up to 5 people, Hillgate House was originally built in the 18th Century, when it was used as a farmhouse. Since then, it has been lovingly restored to retain many of its original features, such as exposed beams and a cast-iron stove, yet has been decorated in a modern, yet complementary style. There is a large, lawned garden from which you can enjoy the scenery provided by the Callow and the Corndon Hills, or simply kick back with a glass of wine and enjoy a spot of summertime dining. T...here are walking, cycling and horse-riding facilities close by and parking for up to 3 cars.
Amenities: Storage heaters with cast iron multi-fuel stove in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, washing machine, tumble dryer, TV with basic Sky, DVD, radio. Fuel, power and starter pack for multi-fuel stove inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Off road parking for 3 cars. Large lawned garden with garden furniture, BBQ and Shepherd's Hut. Well-behaved dogs welcome. Shop and pub/restaurant 1 mile. Note: Check in 4pm.
Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was "the quietest place under the sun" and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: It is situated close to the Welsh Marches, the border between England and Wales, and these rolling hills are ideal for walking or cycling, especially as there are characterful villages and ancient castles to be found throughout. The market town of Bishop's Castle is nearby and here you can enjoy their weekly market or simply soak up the scenery from one of the many excellent pubs and restaurants. Hemford is also well-placed for many of Shropshire's main attractions, such as historic Shrewsbury, the charming town of Ludlow or the imposing Stokesay Castle. Railway enthusiasts will appreciate the elegance of the Severn Valley Railway and the World Heritage Centre at Ironbridge offers a glimpse of days gone by.

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Owner very considerate, ringing us before and after our stay to check all was OK. If we decide to visit this area again, and it's well worth another visit, then we'll definitely stay in this dog friendly property again.
There is nothing left to say

I realy cant add anything else to previous reviews. Hillgate house is Home from Home. Don't worry if you have left anything behind, I can assure you its there waiting for you at Hillgate House. Just one constructive critism a bigger fridge with possibly a freezer would be wonderfull. Otherwise !!! what can I say .

An abolutely wonderful, peaceful and comfortable house. The rush hour consisted of a tractor and a couple of horses. The birds in the garden and the surrounding fields woke us up and sent us to sleep. Good beds with no need to close the cutains as no traffic. Wonderful owner who ensured all was well. Very dog friendly.Very much recommended even if it means I cant book again (but dont book if you want a clubbing type of break!!
A nice stay
