'Villa Belforte' is a totally restored stunning independent Tuscan Villa perched up high on the medieval walls of the picturesque village of Belforte in central Tuscany. Additional Location Information
The village of Belforte is a very picturesque medieval village in the province of Siena.Perched up high on a Tuscan hill reminding us of its history as a castle and fort you can enjoy magnificent 360°views of the rolling hills and villages. It is the perfect location for a relaxing holiday in Tuscany where the locals still live according to the seasons and time seems almost to have stopped still. Small and poetic it still however luckily offers a restaurant, pizzeria, bar, small grocery store selling fresh produce, a post office and of course a couple of churches and a small civic museum. Belforte is an oasis of quiet and beauty as well as being a great base for exploring the art treasures and culinary treats of Tuscany. It is also an excellent place to experience real village life with the friendly locals who still treat the foreigners like celebrities...practice your Italian, head to the nearby coast, enjoy the excellent nearby thermal spas or just the 'dolce vita' from your own stunning villa.

This house is stunning. We were here at the end of September and the roses were still blooming and the herb garden was full of things to snip. The house has been totally renovated, beautiful bathrooms, large country kitchen and a fabulous patio with a view of the valley. It would not be a good house for anyone with mobility issues as the ceilings are high so the staircases are long and there are three stories for most people. The is one bedroom on the entry level but the living areas are one story down at the level of the back garden. Two bedrooms share one bathroom upstairs and the other two bedrooms have lovely big bathrooms of their own. There are powder rooms on the lower two levels.
Belforte is a tiny walled village with friendly people. Language was a barrier but we were always greeted with a smile. There is a nice restaurant in town where we ate on the first night. Unfortunately when we went back for more we found it had closed October first and would only be open on the weekends. Luckily Radicondoli has a couple of nice restaurants too and is a short but windy road away. Lots of vini is not recommended for the driver! We cooked often but it was nice to go out also. Lunches were mostly spent in other villages we visited, Volterra, San Gimignano, Sienna and Radda. Really enjoyed Siena but not on market day as parking is impossible! The day after was much easier.
Probably the only disappointment with this gorgeous home is the spa. They don't call it a hot tub although that was what we were expecting. The temperature is set to only go as high as 37 C and it never got quite that warm. We called it the tepid tub. It is great on a warm day but not warm enough for the cool evenings. It is in a separate building so its a quick run across dewy grass at night. Everything else was top rate. We were warned the heat for the house would be expensive but it was never needed, we didn't even light a fire although I wish we had. It would have been perfect.
The beds are firm but comfortable.
I would be happy to go back again!Response from Kristen Bridge - 11/30/2012

Hi Jan,
Thanks for your great review. Sorry about you finding the spa not warm enough. In any case we have changed the setting to go up to 40 degrees if required just to account for any cold snaps or of course people visiting over the winter months.
Best regards,
Kristen -

Magical Tuscan Experience
Left on 10/26/2012 for a stay in October 2012
Truly a wonderful experience in Tuscany was our stay at Villa Belforte. Well and truly lost in Siena, our dare host Kristin spoke us through directions which got us back on track to Belforte. Arriving a little later than expected we were greeted by caretakers, Antonio and Giuliana, who were very helpful showing us around the house. We made our way to the local restaurant le Mura, which was fantastic. Simple homestyle cooking, such flavour and with delightful service. The villa is amazing, every room immaculate and so tastefully decorated. Views from the windows are to die for with morning mist rolling up the valley, and sunsets to sip you wine by. We day tripped each day to lovely villages, and the nearby towns of Siena and Florence. I would highly recommend Villa Belforte to my friends and family. Thankyou so much to Kristin we are very thankful for your hospitality and look forward to returning to your little piece of paradise on earth.

I have been fortunate never to have stayed in anything but excellent accommodation in Tuscany. This time I was not the renter but one of six being treated on the occasion of a 70th Birthday celebration bringing the extended family together from four countries across the world. A more suitable place could not have been chosen. The accommodation is, if anything, even better than the photos on the site show. The villa has a lovely friendly atmosphere. Six people could relax together or slink off for a quiet watch of the TV or a film or use the wifi to write a blog posting. It provides a great centre from which to see Tuscany - an area I know reasonably well. The owner and the caretaker were very friendly and nothing in the way of help was too much trouble. I was very torn between just hunkering down and enjoying the villa and seeing the area again. I could quite happily have stayed around Belforte and Radicondoli for the fortnight.

Loved the place! Stunning view and amazing villa. Village of Belforte is very small and you need to get a car if you want to move around. There's only one restaurant in the village, but pizza was just perfect. Everything went well from check-in to check-out. Lovely owner Kristen called us few times to check that everything was ok and also gave us nice tips what to do in the surrounding areas. Spa was very nice and both adults and kids loved it. I can highly recommend this place. You can easily access bigger cities like Siena and Florence from there but I'm telling you it's hard to leave the villa!

As you can see my husband has written a review but I also felt that I had to write something as I was so impressed with this villa!
My husband won an award which meant were able to book a holiday somewhere special. We originally wanted to go to Greece which we love, however when I searched on line and typed in key words 'contemporary and chic' Villa Belforte appeared and after veiwing the photographs we were hooked. Only one summer booking was available which we luckily managed to secure. The day we arrived was a bank holiday, we got a little lost and arrived very late, the owners had very kindly left us provisions. It is not always the case but this villa is everything that the photographs offered and more. After the long drive we enjoyed a glass of Prosecco on the terrace over looking that spectacular view; we were in paradise.
Beautiful villa sensitively furnished , it felt like our home for the week. The children enjoyed the holiday so much that they wanted to stay.
I cannot use enough superlatives, but will say if you want the holiday of a lifetime this is it. Good local pizza restaurants.
We visited Sienna and saw the Palio, toured Florence and saw the David (and a delicious ice cream parlour) but mostly really enjoyed relaxing at home, where the children enjoyed cooling down in the spa.
Library of books and good internet access.Response from Kristen Bridge - 01/19/2012

A stay at this fabulous villa was the perfect antidote to a typical English summer! Every detail of the building, both interior and exterior, has been considered and designed to make the experience rich and satisfying to all the senses. We felt we had been plucked from a grey and rain-lashed land and dropped into paradise.
The property has everything you need to live in sophisticated comfort in the heart of the most beautiful and historically rich Tuscan landscape.
Relaxing on the sun-washed terrace with a glass of chilled Prosecco is the best cure for the stresses of the working year. The spa is a great idea and was very much enjoyed by the family and even though there were five of us in all Villa Belforte is more than spacious enough room for individual quiet pursuits or full-on family meals and activity.
The location is perfect for visits to Sienna - where we experienced the excitement and emotion of the Palio - and breathtaking Florence or any number of other beautiful towns. I could spend several pages extolling the many virtues of this superb Villa which very quickly became our Italian 'home' but must be satisfied with giving it a whole-hearted endorsement and full recommendation.
Finally I would like to say that the warmth of the Italian summer was easily matched by the welcome we received from the owners and would like to thank them for an unforgettable time.

This is the perfect holiday home to enjoy with friends. All the rooms are fantastic and there's stunning views from nearly every window. The house has been beautifully restored and the spa is amazing ! Belforte was a great base to explore this part of Tuscany and we had a beautiful week in this part of the world. We loved eating in nearby Radicondoli but also loved communal cooking in the great kitchen here. The owner was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended!
