      Dated...But on the Beach.

Left on 02/02/2013 for a stay in January 2013

Beautiful beach location, easy to get to, private access for residents and nice shops and restaurants nearby...

That being said, when I got there the area was experiencing "Red Tide" which left the ar unbreathable and the beach was strewn with dead fish. Nothing that mgmt could do about that...But, be sure to inquire before making reservations if the area is under such condition prior to booking.

Now, as for the condo rental: the ownership really needs to do better as gfar as renovating this place. The walls and doors need paint. The bathtub was stained and disgusting along with the deteriorating and mildewed caulking around the tub. Mostly clean, but could be better. The queen size bed was okay, but I had to run to Target to get a pillow I could sleep on.

Location: Great! Condo: Not so Much.

For the money, it is cheaper than staying in a hotel on Siesta Key, but I expect a better maintained property. I don't think the owners care...as long as people keep plunking down cash to be here. Very disapponting.

Response from Sea Crest on Siesta Key - 02/07/2013

      Sea Crest on Siesta Key

      Owner

Thank you so much for the constructive information. We are aware of the bathtub . It is an original cast iron tub that is in need of resurfacing which has been scheduled in mid summer. This process takes 7 plus days to complete and has to be done during the slow season. It was not at all dirty but does appear dark due to lack the new surface that is needed. This unit was painted 2 years ago and had all new furniture from Rooms to Go added then. I did observe the doors and they are in need of paint. Thank you for calling our attention to that. All pillows in the unit were replaced with new ones less than 30 days ago. I wished you had advised us of the problem so we could have corrected it while you were here.

As for RED Tide. Sarasota has no actual RED TIDE during your stay but we did get the throat irritaion and some of the dead fish from the Venice area when the wind was blowing strongly from the South. Although we can not control Red Tide, Sarasota county cleaned the beach daily and removed the fish each morning during that time. Red Tide is a Mystery to nature. Even the high paid Marine Scientists do not know when it is coming , how long it will last or where it will show up. At 3:39 today Mote Marine reported that there is no Red Tide on the Siesta Key /Crescent Beach area.

      Older but nice

Left on 09/06/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We stayed at the Sea Crest condos aug. 31-Sept. 4 (Labor Day weekend) These condos were built in the 60's (terrazo flooring) but had everything we needed. The outlets could use an upgrade but overall it felt like home. We stayed in a one bedroom, one bath with a queen size bed and a pull-out sofa. We stayed in unit #12. The unit was clean and the bed was comfortable. The pull-out sofa bed was slept on by our small children. The pool was clean and was not crowded. They also had shuffleboard. We had a private entrance to Crescent Beach. It was less than 75 yds to the beach from our unit. The office manager was helpful. They had a video library to check out dvds that we took advantage of. Unfortunately, when we were there the white sands of the beach was littered with seaweed on both the beach and in the water so we were very disappointed. There was a bar nearby so we could hear noise almost every night but the most disturbing was loud noises coming from the next door condo complex House of the Sun. People there were partying all night on the Friday night (10pm-6am) and then on Sunday night a group of people were partying from 4-6am. To say the least, getting good sleep only 50% of the time stunk. I cannot blame the mgmt. of Sea Crest but it did make staying there not so great. I am not sure if a more modern facility would have "noise proofed" it more but I wonder. The area we stayed at was on the southern end of Siesta Key so it was away from most of the shops but there were places to eat nearby. A few shops and eating establishments were across the street from where we stayed. People staying at Sea Crest were quiet but can't say the House of Sun next door was.

We both loved our stay. Great, comfortable rooms with everything we needed. Staff was friendly and accommodating. The beach was beautiful and the restaurants across the street were tasty and convenient. We can't wait to go back!!!

      Sensational

Left on 04/06/2011 for a stay in March 2011

I've visited Siesta Key my entire life and Sea Crest has become that second home in Siesta Key. No matter what unit we stay in, it is always clean, stocked, and has everything we need to provide the vacation away from home. Plus, every unit provides us direct access to the beach within 100 steps. Whether we are sitting on the beach, cooking out at the picnic area, or chillin by the pool, it's the most relaxing vacation. Thanks to the managers, Jill and Mike, we will always be back.
