The popular seaside holiday resort of Silloth lies in an area of outstanding natural beauty backed by the Lake District fells, the town has views across the Solway Firth to Southern Galloway. Silloth has wonderful sunsets and the landscape artist JMW Turner was attracted here to paint them in the early 19th century. There is an attractive 36 acre open space known simpl...y as 'The Green' between the town and the sea and a wide promenade stretching away to Skinburness. A championship golf course dominates the edge of the town and had been described as one of the top fifty courses in Britain. This is a superb area for walking with the Cumbria costal walk running along the coast line, and excellent bird watching opportunities are also available. Further afield but still within easy touring distance are the many attractions and glorious landscapes of the Lake District.

An excellent location overlooking the sea. The house is well equipped and freshly decorated. Parking right outside front door. Fish and chip shop just around the corner as well as a Coop and Spar.
Not far to Carlisle and Northern Lake District.
Excellent accomodation for a large family

Good place for a large family to spend sometime together. Location is prime and has some good facilities around.
The only problem is locating the building by looking for the name "Marine Terrace" as it is written in very small words in one corner of the building. However if you have seen the photographs of the property then you can identify it very easily when driving by the road.

This was a great base for visiting the Lakes and Scotland. Although Sillith is a little quite the expanse of parkland in front of the property was beautiful and a walk along the Solway Firth was invigorating. There is also a municipal tennis court and an amusements arcade within 2 mins walk with many 2p machines, £3 kept the kids happy for 2 hours as the machines were not greedy! We went as 2 families - the accommodation at Marine Terrace was great - very adequately decorated for a rental property. We even forgot we had the kids with us as the house was so big that we couldn't her them!
The bed in the primary bedroom was a little squeaky (just turning over in bed) but this was resolved by wedging on of the many extra pillows between the bed-head and the wall - the metal bed frame needed a little Wd40!!! The matresses were perfectly fine (no roll into the middle matresses which is my number 1 hate) so we all slept well and enjoyed our stay.
Paula - the owner left great notes regarding usage of equipment etc and our deposit has been refunded as expected.
We would book Marine Terrace again if we went to this area. Booking was easy via Lakes Cottage Holiday, efficient and very proactive. They checked availability for me and called back straight away.
Downside - no tongues in the kitchen to turn my bacon over! Had to cope with a fork!
