Additional Location Information
House Seaside is located on the private estate of the Inchcape Seaside Villas. It is a place where dreams of a tropical island experience come true, where you can listen to the whisper of the trade winds brushing the tips of the coconut palms and get carried away by the colourful sounds of the steel drums, reggae and calypso music.
Clustered on the southern most tip of the Caribbean island of Barbados, House Seaside resides on the Inchcape property on Ananias Point right on the edge of Silver Sands Beach.
Facing into the gentle breezes of the trades, Inchcape overlooks one of the islands most beautiful unspoiled white sand beaches to it's left while foamy rollers pound against the coral rocks at the western end of Silver Sands' beach.
Inchcape is surrounded by brilliant clear blue water. Visibility is undisturbed at up to fifty feet. Swimming and snorkeling are superb. Surfing is exceptional in the shorebreak only steps away from your house.
Most noteworthy is it's location as one of the best wave windsurfing spots on earth. Life is casual and unhurried in the true Barbadian tradition.
As Inchcape is located where the Atlantic meets the Caribbean the ocean can look like a pond on one day and can have waves out on the reef and a shorebreak on one part of the beach. The eastern half of the beach is usually calm and suited for swimming and seabathing.

We spent 5 days at Inchcape Seaside Villas in the "Coconut" apartment. The staff was friendly and helpful. Wolfgang set up the car rental for us which was a great help. The apartment, while not being luxurious, was comfortable and had a killer view. Away from the congestion of the west side of the island, Inchcape is a great place to stay if your looking for a quiet getaway. Next door to Inchcape is a lovely beach which you'll practically have to yourself. Though being on the south coast near the atlantic side results in a rougher surf, the water is swimable but not good for snorkeling. A short walk from the grounds is a small seaside bar that occasionally has entertainment. While Barbados was not the best island in the Caribbean due to it's dense population, you'll find Inchcape to be and oasis.

We have returned from our eighth full month stay at Inchcape villas in Barbados. All of the villas are beautiful but we love Sunrise. The huge verandah is a perfect place to watch the sun come up in the mornings and to watch the kite surfers and wind surfers all day.
We made some beautiful meals of local fish purchased at the fish market in Oistens. Our kitchen is large enough for several cooks.
The property is well kept. The gardener is working everyday and all the palms and flowers look beautiful.
Barbados weather is perfect and this villa is the one we return to each year and many times in our thoughts. -

My wife and I just spent two weeks at Inchcape the villa was colonial style with a wonderfull unspoilt ocean view. The owners were extremly pleaseant and accomodating. If you fancy just relaxing out on a sun lounger there is plenty of beatiful garden to sit in with amazing unspoil views.
Or take a swim in Silver sands beach which is unspoilt and only a two minute walk away the sea is lovely and warm and the sand is awseome.
Looking for an unspoilt location which is becomming harder to find in Barbados these day's Inchcape ticks all the boxes. -

The location is fantastic and it felt as if we had our own private silvery sands beach outside our gate. The villa was clean and comfortable and we loved sitting in the garden or patio watching the sea or the surfers...or wandering along the often empty beach with our adopted friend 'Peanut' the dog. Wolfgang was superb sorting out all we required prior to our visit as he was away when we were there. And whilst he was away, everyone was so helpful. Thank you. We had hoped to windsurf but there was nobody at the local windsurf shop. We were put in touch with Rusty who used to run the Mistral windsurfing when it was in Barbados and we had a few half days windsurfing. A car is essential not just for getting around the island but for getting provisions. There is a very relaxing bar a short walk along the beach with good food but if you wanted a restaurant you have to drive. The restaurant info provided was very useful and although the restaurants were all in the busier areas of St Lawrence Gap with big hotels and in Oistins with the Fish Fry, we were glad to drive back to our quiet retreat. If you want somewhere to relax...this is the place.

The hotel is beautifully located, right on the water’s edge and therefor all of Inchcape’s apartments have spectacular ocean views.
The apartment was very pleasant, perfectly clean and maintained, and it came with fantastic amenities including a true high speed Wifi, big tv package, stereo, private tel. line and many other luxury features.
The resort has beautiful grounds and is very well located for travelers who want to experience the island. It is in a wonderful location.
Inchcape is great place to stay and to explore from and Barbados is a “must” to go and see and Inchcape surely is one of the better choices for a place to stay. -

All expectations were exceeded at Inchcape. A fantastic stay and base to explore Barbados.
Bright, white, breezy rooms, amazing beach access, green grass, flexible room layouts, kitchen, privacy, hammocks, iPod dock, movies, fast wifi... More?
Well, Wolfgang and Rosie are hosts I would now count as friends.
They are a wealth of island knowledge, with brilliant suggestions and unbiased recommendations that catered to my every need.
This review is but the first (overdue) step to repaying the gratitude overwhelming me and which I hope some day to repay.
Thanks, Campbell -

These Villas are beautiful, unique apartments renovated from historic plantation buildings. The location is breathtaking, overlooking the ocean and set in lovely tropical gardens. One of the many charms of these villas is that each is uniquely configured, and most have their own private outdoor areas including gorgeous garden areas and decks with great ocean views. I stayed at Inchcape for three weeks, and had the opportunity to stay in several different units, and each had unique and special features. Complementing the fascinating historic context and creative interior architecture, the apartments are equipped with all the modern comforts and conveniences including full-sized kitchen appliances, high-speed internet (which always worked!), and TV and sound system. In addition to the apartments' private outdoor areas, Inchcape also has an extensive beautifully landscaped garden, with a long frontage overlooking the ocean. The whole area is extremely private (gated and fenced). The location is perfect for windsurfers / kitesurfers with their own gear, or for anybody wanting to rent equipment (rental available 5-minute walk along the beach). As a solo traveler without a rental car, I found this location perfect - the apartments were quiet, relaxed, safe, and extremely comfortable; windsurfing gear was a short walk away; and groceries, fresh fish at the fish market, and produce at locally-run stands were all an easy bus ride away (you don't need a rental car or taxi; the bus stop is 5 minutes walk up the hill). The self-catering / full kitchen aspect was a big advantage over a hotel, since eating out seemed quite expensive, but fresh fish at the market was excellent value. The maid service was extremely competent and professional. This is a superbly-run establishment were the staff are proud to work. The owners, Rosi and Wolfgang Lange, are wonderfully welcoming and helpful; they live on-site in their own villa and are always available to help out with local knowledge.

When we arrived in Barbados (with this being our first trip to the island) we were hesitant having booked on-line (as we usually are after a poor rental in Costa Rica). We were welcomed to the rental by super friendly/helpfull staff who showed us around the small resorts facilities of which no one could be dissappointed and with the massive hotel next door under renovations (albeit slow ones) the beach adjascent was in essence a private strip of sand for the small resort. Combine this with their own private grassed outdoor area looking out over the pristine waters as well as the clean spacious rentals and we were more then happy with our rental, Our only regret was that on the 7 day trip we did not have more time to enjoy the rental itself as the island occupied the majority of our time there. Breathtaking!!!

We stayed for 10 nights in a villa, Cottage B by the Sea, which was pretty but the villa faced a paddock and the only views of the sea were from a corner of the upstairs bedroom window. We did take the advice of the Manager and hired a car. This is totally essential. It enabled us to drive to Oistens most days to buy great fresh fish and supplies to cook for our meals.
Staff were not satisfactory. Although the room directory was quite detailed and prescriptive, it did not reflect the actual service. We paid $Us15 for a load of washing which was returned unfolded in a heap on the kitchen table on our return. Cleaning the rooms was haphazard both in terms of the day and the type of service provided. We requested 2 more pillows and were given an interrogation by the head maid as to the reason why we needed them. We eventually became reluctant to ask the head maid for anything because of her unpleasantness.
A safe deposit key for the safe in the villa (necessary given the security concerns) required a us$50 deposit.
Security is an issue in this part of Barbados with the neighbouring guests being broken into during our stay. Despite this we were berated by staff for not leaving our key in the door for them to access the external seating area rear of the villa for cleaning when we went to the cricket. As others have remarked before this review, there are no supplies at all in the accommodation in terms of food. We arrived at 10.30pm and there were no teabags, milk or any other basic supplies. Accepting that the website does not refer to supplies, and although the cab driver did take us to a local store (which had very limited supplies), after a long tiring flight this was not really what most guests would have expected.
If you are a windsurfer or surfer the beach is suitable as its very rugged and lots of windsurfers congregate there. The location is constantly windy. If like us you like to snorkel and swim with limited sea action, this is not the place to stay and swim, or just laze on the beach. There is a lovely beach near Oistens to which you can drive to called Miami Beach, but this is the closest swimming-friendly beach to Inchcape.
The bedrooms are reached by a narrow steep stairs but the bathroom is situated on the ground floor so this villa would be unsuitable for any guests with mobility impairment.Response from Wolfgang Lange - 05/09/2012
Owner
We really appreciate when guests make the effort of writing and posting a review, and we understand that different persons might have different opinions, but reading your review, I am compelled almost forced to reply. Some of the statements you make are way beyond reality and definitely do not do our place, our staff and the area justice.
When you say...........”the villa faced a paddock and the only views of the sea were from a corner of the upstairs bedroom window...”
I wonder whether you stayed in the Seaside Cottage B at all. This unit has a lovely view not only from the upstairs loft bedroom from where there is a view of the ocean even when lying in the bed, but also from the outdoor terrace on the ground floor which sits in a nice tropical garden setting demonstrated on our website. Maybe a well maintained tropical garden with coconut and frangipani trees, plus georgeous Bougainvillaea and Plumbego plants is a paddock for you. Many guests have enjoyed a beautiful sunset from this vantage point.
Your comment “that it is totally essential to rent a car.”
We would not call it totally essential, much rather very advisable, and that is why I advised you from the very beginning of our communication to rent a car for your stay. But just to mention, a bus stop is a 5 minutes walk away from our property and we also have a specially assigned taxi service who services our property with preference. The driver can be reached any time on his cell phone from the phone in Inchcape’s rental units and local calls are free of charge
Your comment “Staff were not satisfactory. Although the room directory was quite detailed and prescriptive, it did not reflect the actual service.”
I cannot judge what went on between you and our staff as I can only listen to both sides and make myself an opinion. What we can say for sure, is that you are not correct when you say that you did not get the service we described on our website.
Your comment “We paid $Us15 for a load of washing which was returned unfolded in a heap on the kitchen table on our return. Cleaning the rooms was haphazard both in terms of the day and the type of service provided.”
Since several of our staff members were involved in doing your laundry, your statement not correct. We are very sorry that you didn’t like the service provided, but it was actually exactly what we describe on our website.
Your comment “We requested 2 more pillows and were given an interrogation by the head maid as to the reason why we needed them. We eventually became reluctant to ask the head maid for anything because of her unpleasantness.”
Our head maid has worked for us for over twenty years. She is very friendly and has received many compliments for the way she conducts herself from numerous guests. She is a loveable person and you are the first ever to give her a negative comment. She goes beyond the norm to ensure that our guests are happy with our service. She indicated that she was merely trying to find out whether the pillows were needed for inside the apartment usage or our day beds in the ocean front outdoor area, for which we have special pillows. You obviously missed her intention for asking the question.
Your comment “A safe deposit key for the safe in the villa (necessary given the security concerns) required a us$50 deposit.”
I question very much that you are able to judge our security having stayed with us only for a few days. Just to mention we are most probably the most trouble free property on the island, not having had a break in in the past 15 years.
Your comment “Security is an issue in this part of Barbados with the neighboring guests being broken into during our stay.”
To present the facts - nobody had broken into an apartment. A door had been left unlocked and someone walking through our garden to the west walked in to a not properly locked door. You intentionally omitted to mention that nothing was stolen or missing from the apartment.
Your comment “Despite this we were berated by staff for not leaving our key in the door for them to access the external seating area rear of the villa for cleaning when we went to the cricket.”
Again, when the chemistry between a guest and our staff is not good, our staff can obviously only do wrong. As it is not as you say, I will not further comment and leave it considering it a misunderstanding.
Your comment “As others have remarked before this review, there are no supplies at all in the accommodation in terms of food etc. etc. etc.”
We are not an all inclusive hotel with a restaurant or supermarket and that comes out very clear when you study our website carefully. We rent out self contained apartments. We also consider it a very nice service that we have organized for all our guests who rent one of our units, that our airport pick up service always offers to stop at a smaller supermarket, so that our guests can buy the basics they need for their arrival. If you had preferred to go to a bigger supermarket, we would have gladly arranged for it, but you would have also needed to arrive a little earlier as the bigger supermarkets close around 8 pm.
If you had asked us to shop some groceries for you we would have gladly done so, as we had arranged for many of other clients in the past.
Your comment “If you are a windsurfer or surfer the beach is suitable as its very rugged and lots of windsurfers congregate there.”
Well again, what you consider rugged, others consider one of the most beautiful white sand paradise beaches on the island. Any beach on this island can be rough and calm, can have waves or be totally flat. Barbados is a rock in the deep water Atlantic Ocean and everything is possible. Our beach, Silver Sands Beach, can be like pond and can have a little shore break on other days, same as any other beach.
Your comment “The location is constantly windy.”
It might have been constantly windy for the short period you stayed with us. Many people would say now that unfortunately it’s not constantly windy. We benefit from the trade winds and usually have a very pleasant breeze year round. This makes our area the part of Barbados with the best and most comfortable climate where no air conditioning is needed.
We regret very much that you have been one of the very few unhappy guests we had in over 20 years at the Inchcape Seaside Villas and we hope you really enjoyed the rest of your stay in the Caribbean.

The villas are situated on a lovely sandy beach with waves and windsurfers in the distance. They were impeccably clean and comfortable. Ours felt like a former plantation house with high ceilings, white walls, ceiling fans and modern bathrooms. We had a lovely covered terrace where we had drinks in the evening and breakfast in the morning and could watch rainstorms without getting wet. The owners were very helpful with planning taxis, excursions, etc. You are not on a bus line, so plan on using taxis or renting a car (English driving on the left hand side of the road is a challenge). Wolfgang arranged the car rental for us from the villa, which was less stressful than renting at the airport. We loved every minute of our stay!!
I should also say that I contacted Wolfgang in a panic in October when another villa rented through Vrbo fell through due to a double booking and he was so helpful and reassuring that they would help us find accommodations, which he did and in what style!! -

I can only say that we were glad that we decided to stay at Inchcape. Everything was perfect from the moment of arrival to the airport drop Wolfgang, the manager of the property, had organized for us.??
There are local fishermen who supply you with lobster from the reef right outside of Inchcape. The beach has sand as white as white can be and the sea water is nice to swim in. ?
The bed is one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in and most days, we just slept in and woke up later than normal as the bed was so very comfortable.??It is truly a very nice resort to splurge on and make your trip to Barbados special.

This was the best choice we could have possibly made. Everything about Inchcape has been beyond our expectations. Rosi & Wolfgang were great hosts, the maids were friendly and accommodated all our wishes, I loved to speak to Barton the gardener and Inchcape's dog Peanut adopted us for the time we stayed there.
The villas have fully equipped kitchens and with the Oistins fish market just a few minutes away, fresh fish was on our menue not only once. The restaurants recommended by Rosi & Wolfgang were very good and I can only advise to listen to their suggestions.
Silver Sands Beach is one of many beautiful beaches in Barbados, but it feels like your own private beach.
Barbados has a great package, good climate, friendly people, beautiful beaches, good food, many good reasons to come back again.

Outstanding! Unforgettable! These are just a few adjectives to describe this beautiful hidden gem on the island of Barbados. The Inchcape Seaside Villas are just that - the best hidden secret of Barbados. We so enjoyed the understated elegance that surrounded and captivated us for thirteen magical days and nights. We arrived with open minds and what we received far exceeded our expectations. The natural beauty outside, panoramic ocean view, rhythms of the waves and the cooling breezes of the trades washed over us day and night. West-Indian architecture, decor and design allowed the island's beauty to saturate our senses with peace and tranquility. The owners met all of our needs quietly and discreetly. The maid service was excellent. We felt pampered all the time we were there. After having traveled the Caribbean extensively, we rate both the island of Barbados our favorite island and we intend to return as soon as possible.

We stayed 8 nights and 9 days in a seaside cottage at Inchcape appartments with Rosi and Wolfgang. We are so happy that we found this place. It is unbelievably beautiful, luxurious, clean, cosy, with every feature you are looking for and Rosi and Wolfgang are just amazingly friendly and helpful. There is absolutely nothing we could complain about. Silver Sands beach is a stone throw away, you can go windsurfing, if the swell is good you will find a wave there as well, if not there - you will find it somewhere else on the island.
Only recommendation, you should have a car to get around. Oistins is a 5 minutes drive away, where you have a supermarket, the best food you could imagine and the famous fish market with its legendary friday nights!
We would always pick again the south cost as our base on the island, and for sure we definitely would choose Inchcape appartments again as our holiday location the next time we go there!
Thank you so much, Rosi and Wolfgang for your hospitality, it was a wonderful time, which we will never forget. Looking forward to come back to you.
Best wishes from Munich,

We had our most perfect vacation ever. The island of Barbados is one of the better places on earth in every respect. The natives are friendly, the food is good, the infrastructure fantastic for an island paradise and the waters around this coral island are amongst the most beautiful on earth. Inchcape is a wonderful tourist rental property, more like a high class private estate, situated on an uncrowded white sand beach. The staff was delightful, helpful and went the extra step to make us feel special.
