Description from the manager
Sleeps 1-6
At Miss P's Place you most likely will wake up to hummingbirds in the orchid tree outside your window, meander to the kitchen for a cup of Blue Mountain coffee or fresh squeezed juice and then take a quick dip in the pool...sounds pretty spectacular.
Take a quick mid-morning stroll, two easy minutes down the path to a turquoise-blue bay and the finest talcum powder, white sand beach on island. Come back to Miss Becky (who's welcomed guests at Miss P's for over two decades) as she sets the table for lunch out on the verandah overlooking the ocean.

LouisianaDidn't want to leave
Left on 04/03/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We spent the last week of March -- myself, my wife, two grown sons and one son's girlfriend. We could't have asked for a better time. Weather was perfect, and although we might have preferred beachfront, the view from the patio was spectacular and the walk to the beach was no problem -- even the stairs. And we really ejoyed the private pool.
In general, you have to realize that the villa is a private home, not a hotel. The amenities aren't Hilton or Wyndham, but Miss P's is quite comfortable. The dining room is the patio, and each bedroom has air conditioning. I guess the tv works, but we never turned it on. Wi-fi kept us in touch with what was important in the world.
Although we had expected to eat at a restaurant or two during our stay, we didn't. Initially we were asked what we would like to eat, and we replied that we were interested in local fare. Christine, the cook, is an artist. She prepared Jamaican foods exquisitely. christine and Faylyn, the maid, came at 8:30 every morning and left at 4. We were more than satisfied to wait for them to prepare breakfasts of local fresh fruits (papaya, mango, banana, watermelon), fresh orange juice and some sort of sweet bread, we enjoyed that for breakfast every day. (The one day we took a day trip, we prepared our own because we left before the staff arrived.) Christine prepared dinner during the afternoon and left on the stove the day's entree and side dish, which we warmed in the oven later in the afternoon. She also prepared a salad that waited for us in the refrigerator. We spent about us$90 on fresh fruit and vegetables, which we paid for in cash when the vendor came by with a pickup truck loaded with fresh produce. We also spent about us$475 for groceries, which we paid at the end of the week. That included 4 bottles of rum and a case of Red Stripe. We also purchased a couple of bottles of rum and a few bottles of beer at the convenience store at the beach. We brought wine from home because we expected it to be pricey on the island.
We rented a car, but we really didn't have to. We did take a trip into Falmouth one day to go to the bank and have a look around. And one afternoon the "kids" drove to the shops by the Holiday Inn close to Montego Bay.
We did a day trip through the mountains to the appleton Distillery for a tour and lunch followed by a stop at YS Falls. Another couple from Silver Sands was with us. The driver, Billy, also shuttles guests from the airport to Silver Sands. His explanations of what we saw on the trip made the experience worthwhile and gave us insights to the Jamaican culture we wouldn't have know otherwise. -

New York CityMs. P's place - a little bit of heaven!

My duahter and I trael quite a bit . We just got back from a really nice time in Maine - but guess what we're still talking aobut - our trip to Ms. P's in March of 2010!
Ms. P's is exactly what you would do if you actually had a house in Silver Sands - the beds weere comfy , the decor the right mix of tropical whimsical, historical and artsy . My daughter is still wishing fo rthe amazing cuisine prepared by our lovely housekeepers who were warm and gracious and welcoming while managing a very professional affect. Loved these ladies. We wanted for nothing the entire time. We came and went, always greeted by well prepared delicious dinners and lunches.
The property is just lovely, well appointed, well kept and just the right size for a happy , cozy gathering. We captured photos of that amazing vine in the backyard- I've only seen that one other place - in a photograph in the gift shop in the Botanical Gardens in Coral Gables! Amazing.
We will rmember this as the best time evver! Seen a lot of places , been there and done that , but oh Ms. P's place...

The Corkills
Overland Park, KSThe best family vacation we've ever had!
Left on 03/20/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Just returned from stay at Miss P's, 4 adults/3 tweens. I can speak for all of us that it was the best trip we've ever had. The fact the property is a gated community wasn't a factor when looking for a place, but once we arrived, we felt so safe and in no time we felt at home with the locals. The people are so incredibly nice! Roy and Fabian were exceptional life guards!! Errol truly is a great guy. He took us out snorkeling twice and would have taken us fishing but the water was too rough. He could have easily taken our money and wasted our time, but he's not like that.
We enjoyed shopping within walking distance just outside of the property. I think it's called Jacob's Beach. The store on the property also had some souvenirs.
As for our villa, there are no words to do it justice. Our staff, Christine and Faylyn, feel like family to us after one week. Their cooking was divine! I'll never forget the ackee & saltfish, brown stew chicken, coconut shrimp...I could go on and on.
I always thought I wanted to rent a place on the beach, but there couldn't be a better view than here. The grounds are covered with beautiful flowers and greenery. At nighttime we'd enjoy the twinkling of the stars in the sky while listening to the waves crash on the beach.
The kids never once were bored! That's why we never felt the need to take a tour or venture out! If they weren't playing in our private pool, we were down on the beach for hours building sandcastles and riding boogie boards. The nightlife at the beach bar is enjoyable too. The crab races are worth going out for.
Overall if you're looking for an excellent family vacation at an affordable price, Miss P's is it! No cooking, no cleaning, no worrying about the kids' entertainment, no safety concerns. It has it all and then some.

I loved being at Miss P's! The staff are very kind and accomodating, the house is in excellent condition and kept very clean and it's generally a very nice place to be!
When asked by Tiverton how they could improve my experience I really could not think of one criticism! I would definitely recommend staying here.
