Burlington, CTPerfect holiday home!
Left on 05/19/2013 for a stay in April 2013
We were recommended The Milestone by a family who lives in the area. What a treat! The home is located on the main road in Simon's Town, but as you walked down the beautifully manicured walkway, the road noise is drowned out completely and you find yourself in a lovely courtyard surrounded by gardens. We were then graciously greeted by the owner who explained about the house and then about things to do in the surrounding areas, taking particular note to find out what our 7 yr old was interested in seeing and doing while there. The home is perfect for families with three large bedrooms and a sleeping porch, large living a dining area, two full bathrooms and a nice sized kitchen. We found everything we could possibly need in the rooms including books on the area but the best thing about the house has to be the view. First struck as we walked in the front door, the ocean and mountains behind are in full view through large windows on the back wall. Once again, beautiful gardens around the house lead to a sloping lawn that leads to the rocky coast of the ocean. My son was delighted to be able to 'run' out the back door and spent most of the time there climbing on the rocks looking for rock dassies and lizards. The home was perfect. The location is perfect. Thirty minutes from Cape Town and about twenty minutes to Cape Point, Cape of Good Hope National Park, but most importantly just five minutes down the road from Boulder Beach home of the african penguins! One morning we were having coffee on the deck and spotted some dolphins swimming by, and hour and a half later they were still swimming by playing with the seals right in front of us! Amazing! We then spent the day in the wine region and were back in time for dinner on the deck. From our first e-mail with the owner, the process of booking the home was seamless and hassle free. We would highly recommend The Milestone for anyone visiting the Cape Town area and would definitely visit again.

Left on 03/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
What a wonderful endpoint to our month-long african trip! The Milestone is as idyllic as you can imagine, and alicia is the most accomodating hostess. Her attention to detail and immaculate cottage was exactly what we needed at the end of our trip. Having washer and clothesline was wonderful, the kitchen was great. . everything was wonderful. Our group of 6 couples travelling together only wished we had more days to stay and truly enjoy the serenity of the Milestone!

Left on 02/10/2013 for a stay in January 2012
The Milestone is one of those things. It starts with the warm and overwhelming welcome by alida Croudance. She knows what a six person family with young boys need to do, where to go, where to eat and where to have fun. And having said that. The venue itself is a never want to leave paradise. Great ocean view with all that comes with it. And just 5 minutes away... golf on the cutting edge of the ocean, Boulderbeach, restaurants with tasty fingerlickin'food. The terrace at The Miliestone offers a braai so if you buy some fresh fish in Simonstown... with a great local wine. Things can not go wrong.
The Milestone is one of those heavens on earth. And since our first visit the Cockram family is sort of habitues... every other year.

This was our third stay at the Milestone and every time we return we just love it more. Alida is the perfect host and goes out of her way to make us welcome and looked after. The Milestone is perfect for a family holiday and the location is absolutely ideal, with a super, safe beach just a short walk away.

Left on 10/07/2011 for a stay in March 2011
The Milestone is just one of those places that no picture or words can do it justice. You have to go and experience it for yourself. It has the most magnificent sea view, with penguins and dassies roaming in the garden. Romantic sunsets, dramatic moonlit evenings. The most beautiful big rocks at the seaside where one can just sit and absorb the beauty around you. Talk about a little seaside cottage! It cannot be closer to the sea or will be in the sea. Alida the owner is a kind friendly person. She is very particular about detail, like freshly picked flowers from her own garden in the rooms of the house. Alida is also very consurned about the comfort of her quests. If you have stayed at the Milestone once, you would want to go back again and again and again.

Manchester, United KingdomOur wedding location - The Milestone
Left on 10/03/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My partner and I had decided to have our civil partnership union in Simons Town. We did not want a flambouyant affair but something romantic and intimate by the sea. When we found the Milestone we knew this was our location. We stayed for a week at the beginning of august 2011 and had our ceremony at 12 outside in the glorious sunshine. The location of the house is so private, with 3 bedrooms and all the amenities one needs to have a wonderful holiday. Alida the owner was invited to our ceremony as she was so helpful and responsive to our enquiries and made fantastic suggestions helping out with florists and restaurants to eat at. Our special day at The Milestone will never be forgotten and we will be back to celebrate a few anniversaries. We found that walking into Simons Town was very easy and we ate often at the Boulders restaurant where we had a ceremony lunch - see our review on that. The house was spotless and very comfortable and we sat for hours looking out at the sea watching the sea life and even had a swim in the sea. We would highly recommend the Milestone and we will be back for sure. Thank you alida the Milestone will never be forgotten.

My husband and I stayed here at "Milestone" on our Honeymoon. We got married on a nearby beach, Boulders Beach!
We enjoyed our stay at Milestone!!
It was a lovely place to stay, comfortable with wonderful sea views!!! We saw Jackass penquins, seals out on a far boulder, Dassies sunbathing on a rock near the garden...so cute!! The Baboons were amazing! They would come down from the hills mid-morning. We had one climb down a drain pipe and sit on the table outside looking at us through the the lounge window!!! As the baboon left, it left us a steaming present on the table!!! A very funny experience!!!! We had a GREAT time at Milestone! We would reccomend it!!!!! -

If you like the gentle sounds of the ocean lapping at your feet, if you like watching a troupe of penguins hanging out while you drink your coffee from the patio, if you like watching the whales playing on top of the water and the dassies marching each morning across your lawn Then this is the place to be.
You can walk to the Boulders or for a little exercise enjoy a 15 minute walk to the heart of Simons Town, -

"The Milestone" was the best holiday accomodation I have ever had in my lifetime. The house was spacious, well-equipped and on the ocean... we could listen to the waves, watch some penguins on the rocks and look for whales right on our deck..this accomodation was "world class" ..

What an absolutely wonderful stay! The location was perfect - right on the water, peace and quiet, yet easily accessible via our rental car to town and all the destinations that we wanted to visit.
The Milestone is just perfect and even better than it looks in the photos! We loved it so much that we extended our stay for a few days and will certainly be back.
The owner, Alida, makes the place a true home away from home with her thoughtfulness and attention to detail. Every need was anticipated and we were welcomed like family. Alida had fresh flowers and everything was there, ready at our fingertips - from folding chairs for the deck to picnic supplies to everything needed to ensure a comfortable stay.
Thank you again for a truly special visit. Our family travels often and this is certainly one of our top stays. We will be definitely return.
