A charming cottage in the hills near Sintra, ideally located to visit Sintra and its attractions (including easy rail connection to Lisbon), and the atlantic coast. The house is fully furnished and provided every amenity, has terrific views to the west. Our host Marisa gave us directions to the house, and answered all of our questions to ensure that we had a smooth stay. We had a few cold nights and had a nice fire in the fireplace. Driving in Eugaria was a challenge due to the narrow streets.

We had a wonderful stay at Pedro's home in Eugaria. It's very handy to the beaches, palaces and everything of interest in this most special part of Portugal. The house itself was well equipped with all of the comforts of home. Very clean and updated. Our favourite memory of staying here was eating meals on the gorgeous balcony and gazing out at the countryside. In the distance you can see the atlantic ocean. We had two toddlers on the trip and they greatly enjoyed their time here--lots of nooks and crannies to explore and Pedro was well equipped with baby gates and pack n' plays for the kids to sleep in. No need to bring your own! The two floors were spacious and afforded lots of room for the 6 of us that stayed there.
We found this to be a great central location from which to explore the amazing sites. The roads are narrow so driving is very exciting, but we now miss it with our double lane highways and extra wide parking spots. It was a thrill to explore Sintra and at the end of the day we had an amazing place to go home to and rest.Response from WhereTo Stay - 07/20/2012

Truly lovely cottage in the foothills of Sintra. The place is just perfect in size for a couple to small groups and has absolutely everything you could need. Hosts were friendly and very helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. Visited at Easter and the area is a little chilly, so the 2 fireplaces really made it a romantic getaway. The area is just breathtaking and you can walk for hours and always discover new things. Will definitely be back, perhaps in the summer to take real advantage of the perfect location.

A wonderful, dream place (little castle) to stay. We were absolutely taken by happy surprise - the photos don't match the full beauty of the place. Located in a small village in on the hillside overlooking the lush green Sierra Sintra and also the atlantic Ocean. The house is exactly what we would want to arrange for our self. Little corners to retreat and hide, read, paint or just enjoy the view.
Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the wonderful landscape - breath taking and relaxing.

The welcome by Pedro (owner) and the abundance on advise received were brilliant. There are so many things to do and see that a week was not enough because the house is so nice you don’t feel the need to leave it. And departing was hard - very hard - but we had to as every trip has an end.
We stayed in Sintra/Lisboa for 1 week. Wanted a quiet place to stay with easy access to all sights (loads of heritage site even in hiking distance) and the beaches. I never realized how convenient it was to get to the beaches. Also the historical tramway from Sintra takes you from Colares straight to the Ocean. It is worth while reading some history on Portugal because when staying here you can just feel those historic events that happened around Sintra/Lisboa.
But you do need a car to be able to stay here - and enjoying the Portuguese way of driving helps a lot and is quite fun - not for the passengers possibly unless they principally enjoy roles coaster rides.
Take our word - it is a wonderful place to stay - even though we expect Portugal to be a once travel destination before coming to Portugal - now we are sure it is one of our favorites and definitely worth while coming here on multiple occasions. And the Portuguese people are so friendly. -

We had a lovely stay in Eugaria. The house is charming, comfortable, clean and well equipped. It is set in beautiful surroundings and there is a great view from the terrace. The owners are friendly and helpful.
The house is located in a quiet village but everything is within easy reach - only a short drive to local beaches and villages. The town of Sintra has impressive castles, parks, nice cafées and restaurants.
We would happily recommend this place and plan to go back!

The house is really very pleasant, comfortable and fitted out well.
Pedro has supplies all the necessary information to reach at home and the activities surroundings. His reception was completed, we still thank him for it!
