The perfect place to rest your head after a day exploring this amazing area. The cabin sit on a quiet private acre (that in and of itself is amazing for this area) tranquil and beautiful meadow and Black Butte views. It is a rustic cabin, (not expect the Ritz) but cozy, with wood floors, sunroom, wood stove and all the quiet you can take. One bedroom with a queen bed, one full bath and a futon in the sunroom that can sleep two. It's a nice walk, bike ride or short drive to the pristine Metolius River.
This little cabin is in, Camp Sherman, an amazing area. If you have never been, it's time...Read more

SacramentoNice place, but needs some fixes.
Left on 11/01/2012 for a stay in July 2012
We stayed here during the middle of July during a very warm spell. The house is near a meadow where there are many areas of standing water that mosquitos like. The mosquitos are really only bad for about an hour in the early morning and an hour in the evening, right when it gets dark. Of course, this was when we arrived for our first night. The house was hot inside and needed to be aired-out but there were no screens on most of the windows. We didn't dare open them. Too many biting mosquitos. To the owner's credit, screens were put on all the windows the next day. However, the back porch door has no screen door attached to it and there really needs to be one there so the house can get good cross-air flow on hot nights without letting the mosquitos in. It's the only opening on that side of the house where this can happen. The sunroom can really heat up the place.
Also, the flimsey futon-couch in the sunroom was broken. This did not get properly fixed during our stay. We had to just put the mattress on the floor. Hopefully it works now, or even better yet, hopefully it has been replaced with something better.
Having said all of this, I would go there again if I could be assured that the window screens were in place, that the back porch door had a screen door attached to it, and that the sleeping apparatus is in the sunroom was of better quality. -

We went there on our honeymoon. Maybe it was just being married, maybe it was the gorgeous aspens yellow leaves against the perfectly clear blue sky, maybe it was the deer that came into the meadow around dusk, or the owl that kept us company for a few days...but we loved our stay. The cabin is set up very nicely and is quite comfortable. We will recommend it any day and hope to be back!

Everything we hoped it would be...beautiful, secluded cabin on a lovely piece of land. It is rather basic, but very charming, cozy, comfortable...we could easily live there! Everything was provided, the kitchen is very well equipped with dishes, pots, pans, coffee maker. There is a filtered water pitcher, and large fridge, too. Nice bathroom and shower, plenty of hot water. Everything was very clean and tidy. The trees that surround the cabin are Quaking aspens, hence the name...they are absolutely stunning to watch and listen to in the breeze...there is a lot of local stuff to do, brochures and maps are plentiful. It is really nice to have a break from TV , internet and cell phones. We enjoyed the games and books provided, my groom taught me how to play Scrabble here! :) We enjoyed the barbecue on the deck, and every evening there was a deer strolling through the meadow. The town of Sisters is a short drive away and it is a joy to walk around, see the shops, have an espresso, etc. Plenty of nature to enjoy, many different landscapes in this area. This area is still recovering from a large forest fire a few years ago, so there are some areas that are just beginning to have new growth, and some dead wood, but still so much beauty. The only negative was the mosquitoes! We were there in mid July, and the mosquitoes were relentless, bring bug repellent! There is a creek surrounding the cabin and this is their home. Overall, very enjoyable, affordable get away.

Our stay at the aspen Wood Cabin was both full of activities and restful. It was a welcoming place, with books on the shelves, a porch where hummingbirds visited the flowers, a nearby bike path and hiking path that were easily accessed. Loved watching the aspen trees shake in the breeze. We'd go again. It is a little older - the windows in the sunroom had lost their seal so you couldn't see through, and it's a bit rustic, but for us, it was just about perfect.

PortlandShooting star extravaganza!
Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We came here early in the summer and had such a nice time that we returned in early august. Never disappointing! It's on a beautiful and private piece of land with creek access and an easy jog into the town of Camp Sherman. The cabin itself is sweet. . .the main area is open (almost spacious) with an incredible sun room to the side that allows the whole area to be well lit. The bedroom serves the purpose of housing a bed and not much more but, truth be told, we prefer to sleep on the floor or futon in the sun room. . .or better yet our on the deck for the august meteor showers! Best we've ever seen. Best things about this cabin - private, beautiful, easy access to town, fishing and other activities, great value. Cons - hard to think of any - it's a little hard to find at night the first time, but that's about it!

A very romantic and very homey cabin that was just the perfect thing for what we were looking for. A relaxed time in private and beautiful surroundings. Definitely going back one day. The people renting out the cabin were so nice. They even sent a thank you postcard to my address in Copenhagen!

Very nice little cabin butted up against a beautiful meadow in the aspens. At dusk we were visited by a herd of deer, during the day we saw coyote and kingfisher and watched the leaves fall. At night, the stars were brilliant! There is a nice trail to the local country store and only restaurant in the area. The downfalls were negligible when you compare them to the peace and quiet that you can't get in the city. Worth mentioning; the windows in the sun room are completely fogged over internally so you cannot see the meadow without going outside. The water may be undrinkable so it is suggested you bring your own drinking water.Phone service is limited to incoming or local calls only, but in order to get cell phone service you must drive back towards the highway for .25 mile. The only restaurant in the area is seasonal and very expensive, you must cook in the cabin or drive to Sisters. But all that being said if you want to be left alone to enjoy the feeling of truly leaving society behind, this is the place! We loved it :)

We enjoyed the privacy that this little cabin had to offer. It is a very beautiful and peaceful location. We hiked, biked, played tennis and enjoyed exploring the natural beauty of the area. I do wish there was more information in the description of what was available (or not) at the cabin and the daily infestation of the ants did not help. But I kept reminding myself, we were in the woods. Also, Thankful that the local store had ant spray! Overall we throughly enjoyed ourselves and our stay. We would go back.

Our evening arrival drive down the narrow, rutted driveway left us wondering if we were actually at the right place. Once there, we were surprised to find unfinished walls, an uncomfortable bed in a very small bedroom and most significantly, a warning about the creek-origin of the water. We arrived too late to find bottled water and used the filter pitchers, hoping they were capable of removing the water-borne bugs likely present in the surface-drawn water. We do wish we'd been informed of this before hand as we have backpacking water purification systems we could have brought. This is too significant a health issue to leave to the tenant to "find" in the informational binder after arrival and possible consumption of the tap water.
On the plus side, the cabin was surrounded by beautiful, natural delights. We saw numerous deer in the meadow and nearby woods. We walked the roads and trails to Camp Sherman store and the Kokanee Grill.
We have to say the deficits outweighed the assets of this little cabin in the woods and would not choose to stay there again for anything near the price charged.
