Wondering about booking Villa Karavos? Book it now!

Left on 02/11/2013 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed at the Villa Karavos in august 2012 with our two young boys and with good friends and their teenage son. In short, we had a wonderful week away and there is no doubt that the villa contributed greatly to our enjoyment. We found it clean and tidy and spacious, with gorgeous views back across the bay and a swimming pool that the kids more or less lived in all week.

Bedrooms were a good size and comfortable, plenty of hangers etc. and two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down meant that each family had a bit of privacy.

The indoor sitting area again was spacious, although we couldn't have fitted eight around the table, and the kitchenette is tiny. However, having been to Greece may times before, we know what their idea of a 'kitchen' is, so it was no more than we expected - at least it was an actual cooker rather than those dodgy electric rings! Decent size fridge and freezer compartment for ice meant we managed!

The Villa is in the large grounds of the owners' property; they had veggies and fruit trees and we were able to help ourselves to lemons and tomatoes. Several seating areas around the villa allowed us to find shady or sunny spots all day as we wanted them and the terrace overlooking the bay was fabulous at night.

There were also a couple of indoor seating areas with loads of books other visitors had left (we left some too), and these were pleasant, peaceful places to get away from it all.

The pool area is great for families with children, but as there isn't a really shallow end, it might not suit children who aren't confident splashing about in the water on their own. Ours however absolutely loved it, as did we. Loads of sun loungers, a table and benches we could move around and the owners came round regularly to clean and check the pool water.

Skopelos is a lovely island and town and with it not having its own airport, it's a bit quieter which suited us down to the ground. The bus service is good to the other beaches and towns, and car hire is plentiful. Our Spirit of Greece rep was helpful when we needed her (which wasn't often, we went to do our own thing with our friends rather than join in other people's stuff) and knew the island really well so could recommend places to go.

We would definitely go back to the Karavos. The only thing I'd change is ask them to be a bit more generous with the glasses, plates etc. in the kitchen so we didn't have to wash up quite so often! A week was perfect - but two weeks would work really well in the villa too. There's enough to do on Skopelos to justify a fortnight if you like to mix up beach, pool and touristing and the villa would be a really relaxing place to stay with another family for that length of time.

      Summer bliss!
