Cincinnatiperfect getaway -- truly home away from home

My husband, our dog, and I are repeat visitors to Big Rock Log cabin. We have gone at least once a year since 2008 and all our stays at this warm, charming cabin have been uniquely different, but perfect in every way. The cabin itself is remarkable -- beautiful craftsmanship, amazing outsider and folk art collection, comfortable furnishings, and it's extremely well-appointed.
Outside, the property and environs are like the entire Red River Gorge encapsulated. The beautiful woods and the wildlife can be experienced and enjoyed from the spacious wrap around porch/deck -- covered on the front, open on the side. And just a few steps away is an impressive natural rock shelter with an awesome fire pit. Often there is wood available for burning.
We love Big Rock's proximity to hiking trails in both the Natural Bridge State Park and the RRG. We love that Big Rock is dog-friendly (but you would never suspect any dog has ever been there before, the place is so impeccable. But I think what I love the most is how much we feel at home at Big Rock.

What a wonderful place. The owners have made this a place anyone could enjoy. They have books, games, local maps and information and their own rock shelter!!! This cabin made our trip special. And the fact that it is pet-friendly was the cherry on the sundae!
We are all looking forward to a return visit. -

We chose to rent a Log Cabin instead of staying at a hotel. We love log cabins, especially in the woods. This cabin was excellent. The kids slept upstairs. My wife and I slept downstairs. The front porch was very inviting to us as well as a few hummingbirds. It did rain the first afternoon but we enjoyed hot coffee and the gentle rain on the metal roof on the front porch. The kitchen was plenty spacious to prepare meals with all necessary utensils, pots, pans and plates provided. The property was just as nice as the cabin. A short walk behind the cabin there was an area set up with chairs and a fire pit underneath a large rock ledge. Great for an evening campfire. What a relaxing trip. I have recommended this cabin to others and I would love to return again.

Both the Cabin and the location made for one of our best vacations yet. The cabin made for a home like feeling each night we came back to it from our day of travel. We plan on future vacations at Big Rock Log Cabin. We have already recommended Big Rock to several of our friends and family for a vacation spot.

My brothers and I have stayed at Big Rock for 2 years now and have made it an annual event. The cabin is awesome with plenty of room to sleep all of us. The "Cave" as we call it is all you can ask for as far as outdoor camping atmosphere is concerned. It has a fire pit that is safe and out of the weather. It rained the first year and we didn't feel a drop. It goes back about 15-20 feet under the rock ledge. It has chairs and large rocks to sit on. We take a pickup truck of firewood and stay at the cave about 70% of the time. From morning to late night we sit and relax, chat and enjoy mother nature as it was intended. We are only 4-5 miles from Natural Bridge State Park. They have a nice restaurant and plenty to do there. There are also some local stores along the highway (as well as a great pizza place) to the cabin. If you can't take firewood with you, one of the local stores sells it cheap. About $40.00 will buy you enough for the weekend. The cabin is full of artifacts that John and Carey collected over their years of travel. Books and satellite tv will keep you entertained if that's your thing. All of my brothers and friends enjoy the cabin so much, they look forward to the trip all year long. Allot of my family has rented it on their own. It is a perfect getaway. I will rate it a high 5 star rating. Can't wait to go back. Thanks so much to John for allowing us the pleasure of staying there.

We had an awesome weekend at this cabin! It was one of our best weekend getaways ever. We were traveling to that part of Kentucky with my son's scout troop and decided we didn't want to camp with the boys and chanced upon this great cabin. Very comfortable and scenic. I can't wait until we get a chance to come back and stay a little longer. We only got to visit Torrent Falls and Natural Bridge but there seems to be an abundance of activities that we will have to return to soon. Thanks for making us feel so welcome.
