  Picturesque adriatic bay

  The hostess, Katarina, gave us a very warm welcome, even though we arrived late in the evening. Our 2-bedroomed apartment was spacious, clean & well appointed. The beds were comfortable & there was a good supply of spare bedding, towels & toilet rolls. Our private top-floor sun terrace was huge, with both bedrooms opening onto it. We had 2 sets of outdoor tables & chairs plus 4 full-length loungers. The view over Slano & its bay was spectacular & at night the stars are beautiful.
  
  We made good use of our hire car, exploring almost all of southern Dalmatia. The adriatic is stunningly clear, the mountains are rugged & we were lucky to have gorgeous weather. The roads are very well maintained & at this time of year (April) there is very little traffic.
  
  Slano is well positioned: airport 45 minutes away, Dubrovnik 30 minutes, the beginning of the Peljesac Peninsula 10 minutes & you can easily pop into Bosnia & Herzegovina or go further north.
  
  Food & local wine is very good & reasonably priced & local people are very friendly. Katarina's family were all very welcoming, thoughtful & generous.
  
  Although the kitchenette was well equipped (including a microwave oven) we feel an actual oven would have been useful as we did lots of cooking. The sitting area might be improved by a softer settee & although the TV has many German & Italian channels, there is very little in English.
  
  Overall, our visit was very enjoyable, & we would recommend staying here.
