Ski in winter, swim and fish in summer, relax in a lovely rural location at any time of year. This large, attractive cottage is on a scenic Vermont lake, surrounded by some of Vermont's most beautiful countryside and interesting communities. In the summer, it's a lovely spot for fishing, swimming, and canoeing. The lake frontage is across a quiet country road from the cottage, and is shared with our nearby other cottage (see Fletcher Cottage # 3).

Our private lake frontage is adjacent to a small public swimming area. The water is shallow for a fairly long distance from shore, so it is a safe swimming area for young children under adult... supervision. It's also a good spot for launching a small boat. We provide a canoe, rowboat, kayak, and paddle boat for use by you and by those in our neighboring cottage. If you've got a small boat of your own, feel free to bring it along.

In the winter, the cottage is a great home base for the East's best skiing, with huge savings in exchange for a driving a short distance to the slopes. The cottage is only 13 miles from Smugglers Notch, widely regarded as one of the finest ski areas anywhere, both for skiing enthusiasts and for families. This is a way to get outstanding lodging for your ski trip for a fraction of what you would pay right at the resort. Or, if you prefer, try ice fishing or skating on the lake.

Two-person outdoor hot tub, in back of the house, for pleasant relaxation any time of year.

WiFi broadband.

Use of a canoe, rowboat, kayak, and canoe. (All boats shared with guests in our other cottage, Fletcher # 3.)

For winter guests, discount adult ski passes at Smuggs.

At any time of the year, the cottage is an ideal place for a relaxing retreat, a peaceful spot with space to sleep as many as six-to-eight people.

Smugglers Notch, in addition to its reputation for skiing, is becoming a four-season resort area. Horseback riding is available at a nearby stable. You can tour the local winery or corn maze in nearby Cambridge. Many of Vermont's other well-known attractions, ranging from the Ben & Jerry's factory in Waterbury to the cultural attractions of the Burlington area are within an hour's drive. Montreal is close enough to make it a convenient day-trip.

Generally, we prefer to rent the cottage on a weekly basis — Saturday afternoon until the next Saturday morning — especially during peak summer months. However, at other times of year, including the ski season, we often make it available for shorter periods, such as three-day weekends, or for "weeks" that begin midweek.Read more

PLEASE NOTE: Full weeks only during peak summer season. Two-day minimum applies the rest of the year.
Deposit to secure reservation (nonrefundable in most circumstances): $100 (minimum) for up to a week
Balance (after deposit) due no later than scheduled arrival date
Rates are subject to Vermont 9% rooms tax
Check-in after 3 p.m. Check-out by 11 a.m.
Occasional discounts for last-minute vacancies, midweek days, etc. (If you are interested in a vacancy you see listed in the next week or so, feel free to ask about a possible discount.)
Rate schedule is slightly more complex than outlined above. For less-than-a week, "weekend" rate applies first two nights, "weekday" rate for additional nights, regardless of day of week.

  This rustic country cottage was exactly as described. It worked out very nicely for our small group. It was great not having to be concerned about packing and bringing clean linens. The bathroom was spacious and clean. We were able to enjoy home cooked meals is the nice kitchen.
  
  The hot tub was a huge hit with the teens in our group. The location was very peaceful and quiet. It was a great place to take a long walk. It was a quick and easy ride to Smuggler's Notch.
  
  We had some issues with heat that caught the owners unaware. They did what was in their power to address the issue and was proactive in compensating us for the inconvenience caused.
  
  The only other thing that I found a little uncomfortable was the large number of spider webs throughout the cottage. A thorough cleaning of the ceilings would address that issue.

  Great Ski or Relaxation Vacation Spot

  This place was perfect for what we wanted an economical beautiful place in a quiet area. We had a great time the place was very clean and the owners were extremely accommodating and friendly. It was only 15 minutes from smugglers notch and every mornings drive was beautiful and a drive through a winter wonderland. I would recommend this place to anyone and hope to revisit again in the future. (I don't think I will be able to ever ski again without a hot tub)
