The cottage directly on the lake, with less than 50 homes on the lake. The drive to the cottage is on real Vermont country dirt road that is well maintained by the town. A well equipped country general grocery store is a 10 minute drive. The lake nestled in the mountains with a lot of wild life watching: Loons, Great Blue Heron, Deer, Moose, many varieties of fish & birds. Enjoy canoeing, rowing, swimming, hiking, mountain biking, sunbathing, napping or a gentle walk on a peaceful country road.

Metcalf Pond...the definition of a quiet getaway. We fell in love with the beautiful Vermont scenery last year and we'll likely be revisiting this September. The owners are extremely accomodating and privide plenty of extras for our kids to enjoy. The beatiful weather and peaceful surroundings were better than we expected. Our kids hardly got bored and the simple (yet tight) cabin brought us all together for a few stress-free days. It was nice to stay connected with moderate internet access but we honestly didn't need it - visit this place and you'll realize why!

My girlfriend and I needed a break from the hustle and bustle of Boston, and boy did we get it with this lakeside cottage in rural Vermont! We stayed a week this summer and took advantage of the private dock to do swimming, cooked in the surprisingly large kitchen and slept a lot in the master bedroom overlooking the lake, although we could have easily brought some of our friends with us. Two thumbs way up for anyone looking for a relaxing break and some peace and quiet!
