      Quiet rural lakeside location

Left on 09/12/2011 for a stay in August 2011

We were looking for a centrally located cabin on the Kenai Peninsula from which we could take day trips towards either Seward or Homer as the urge struck us. This place served us perfectly for a 3-night stay.

The owners were very helpful both in making our reservation and in providing info about the region. Although we are not fisherfolks, the owners do offer professional fishing excursions and provide an indoor fish-cleaning and packing station on-site. They connected us to a local flight-seeing company for a possible grizzly-watching trip (although rainy weather prevented us from doing this).

We stayed in the Mallard's Nest cabin, a clean 1-bedroom unit with equipped kitchenette and sofabed. The only thing we found lacking: no wine glasses! The king bed was comfortable. There was internet access, cell service (via Verizon), and a flatscreen TV in the bedroom. A deck allowed us to sit outside at night, looking out over the small lake. One night as dusk fell a moose strolled along the lake shore right in front of our eyes.

There is a communal outdoor hottub, and also a washer/dryer in a separate building.

The grounds are small and shared with other guests in other cabins. There are nearby houses/lodges under construction but there was no work going on during the days we were there. There is a dock, with canoes and kayaks available. There is a communal fire ring with chairs for several guests to share the warmth.

The town of Soldotna is a very short drive, with a full range of shopping, at least 1 coffee shop, and several restaurants including a brewpub. There is a full-scale Safeway grocery store and a large outdoors store.

Very happy we picked alaska Serenity Lodge- Very good people!

Left on 07/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We stayed in the Back Country Cabin, which for 2 people was enough space. The bed was really comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed, plus a bbq grill on the deck. The bathroom was a little tight, but the showers were hot and it worked out fine. The hot tub on the main deck was a real treat. The location is very peaceful, on the edge of the lake but really close to all the action in Soldotna. Dave and Katie were excellent hosts and lined up two great fishing and sightseeing trips for us. Sometimes when you book over the internet, you don't know what you are getting. It was such a pleasure to deal with good people you can trust and to find everything beter than expected. Thanks Dave and Katie.

      Making Memories

Left on 03/02/2011 for a stay in July 2010

I have been to alaska a few times over the past 10 years and I can say that this was the best trip. I stayed at the Lodge and had a great time. Plenty of fishing, sight seeing and memories to make with your family. I have already booked a trip back this year as we had such a great time. It was very clean, the hosts were great and I would recommend it to anyone looking for the "Alaska Experience"!
