60811Nature Lover’s Paradise
Left on 04/28/2012 for a stay in August 2011
Casa Tortuga is a nature lover’s paradise! Of course it goes without saying, seeing mother sea turtles laying eggs, and the baby hatchlings trek to the sea is akin to a spiritual experience. Right in front of the casa, the shallow Solomon Bay provides a perfect nursery for uncountable marine species, while the trees provide homes for a variety of rare birds, and land animals.
In the crystal clear water, we see all kinds of baby tropical fish, with octopus, lobster, conch, stingray etc. In fact we see new species on nearly every beach walk. The kayaks provide access to the large bay where the shallow drop-off is perfect for snorkeling on the beautiful coral reef.
Spectacular tropical bird species abound, sharing the yard with their terrestrial neighbors. What a treat to see families of rare, red-vented, Yucatan Woodpeckers living right outside of the kitchen window, with the children trying to sneak up on the geckos, iguanas, and a variety of crabs. If you are a nature lover, Casa Tortuga is a stay you will cherish forever. -

My family of six and my sister's family of three stayed in this beautiful beach house during our spring break this year. The house worked out perfectly for a family of our size. The caretakers of the property were polite and provided excellent service. The home was very quaint and comfortable with beautiful views. We will definitely be going back to Casa Tortuga for our spring break trip next year!

Casa Toruga!!! You can't ask for more! The place is gorgeous, care-takers are sweet, attentive, & willing to do as much, or little (cooking) as you want. The private beach makes for a stay that allows a simple relaxing stay, while surrounding area offers all the restaurants, shopping & adventure you can possibly want! Go to akumal beach & Hidden Worlds while you're there!!!

Left on 06/02/2011 for a stay in May 2011
We were greeted by the friendly care takers, who cleaned as well as served us daily making sure all our needs were met. The Casa was a comfortable and fantastic place for our friends to chill out. The gorgeous views of Soliman Bay allowed our minds to reflect on how fine life is. We enjoyed the Casa's kayaks and snorkeled the warm, pristine waters. The turtles laid their eggs in front of the Casa, while we were there. Ice melts fast so buy lots of bags or keep making it with fresh water provided. It was a dream come true to experience such a remarkable home on such a picture perfect, private beach.

We had a wonderful time at Casa Tortuga! Great house with plenty of bedroom space and bathrooms for privacy. The kitchen and living room were very comfortable also. Beautiful view of the ocean! The staff was very good too. We had everything we needed and more at this house. It is close to town and not too far from the airport. We felt safe with it being a gated community also. I recommend this place highly for families or groups of friends! Thanks for an awesome vacation Casa Tortuga!! Can't wait to go again!

It was like being in paradise. The view of the beach from the house is beautiful .
The white sand invites long walks at the beach. The Tulum arqueological site is very close. Is far a way of Can-cun which makes this house better. There are plenty of restaurantes close by. And many adventures a short trips and place to visit.
We are allways looking to come back there!!! -

My girlfriend and I spent 10 days before Christmas at
Casa Tortuga, which is located near the end of a gorgeous, crystal clear, caribbean bay. The location is very peaceful...no resorts here, just vacation/rentals homes and a couple of boutique inns. The Casa has a double lot, so an excellent private beach. Sunrises are amazing.
The home is spacious and beautiful and very well equiped for preparing meals and margaritas!
The town of Tulum is about a 10 minute drive south, Playa del Carmen 35 minutes north, so a rental car is a must if you want to explore the area...and there is a lot to see.
Soliman Bay is quite shallow and has a coral bottom, so water shoes are advisable. There are 2 double kayaks for a 10 minute paddle out to the beautiful reef at the edge of the bay. Snorkeling is a must!! (bring your mask, snorkle & fins)
The entire property is very well maintained; views, beach and bay unspoiled. I hope it never changes.
Megan, Luis & Gabby were all very accomodating and wonderful to deal with.

J'y retournerais volontiers! -

Sonoma, CABest Mexico Vacation Ever
Left on 10/09/2010 for a stay in May 2007
I have spent a lot of time in Mexico. My favorite spot is Casa Tortuga, a comfortable and traditional casa overlooking a white sand beach and protected cove. We kayacked, snorkled, soaked up the sun, and explored Maya ruins in Tulum and Chichen Itza.
Local food and drink is very good. Playa del Carmen, a charming seaside village is a short drive from Casa Tortuga. We dined on fresh fish at a table on the beach. While visiting Chichen Itza we discovered a world class hotel and retaurant hidden in the jungle near the archeological site.
This is geat place to relax and recharge. We plan to return soon! -

I have stayed at this property well over five times, having visited with both friends and family. It is like having a home away from home, with a much nicer beach! The house is comfortable, with all amenities and I would highly recommend asknig for the "extras" from the caretakers.

We wanted a place that was away from the main tourist spots but close enough to them that we could easily day trip there. Casa Tortuga was ideal! We made several trips to Cancun and Playa del Carmen. We also enjoyed the quiet walks on the beach and the incredible snorkling on the reef. At landlord's suggestion we made an unforgettable day trip to Coba to visit the Mayan ruins there, and we even took an overnight trip, unescorted, to Chichen Itza. All in all this was a trip to remember and spacious and airy Casa Tortuga was the perfect venue for our "Luna de Miel"!

Left on 09/30/2010 for a stay in February 2010
My husband and I were lucky enough to stay at Casa Tortuga for a few days for our friends' wedding. We instantly fell in love with this charming bungalow on the beach. We arrived pretty late in the evening but the staff was waiting with a meal prepared and smiling, welcoming faces. We spent the days kayaking the bay and relaxing with cervezas in the palapa-shaded hammocks. We fell asleep every night to the sound of the waves breaking gently on the shore and the breeze rustling through the coconut trees. Casa Tortuga is located within a short driving distant to shopping and tourist attractions but what I liked was that it was not in a resort type setting. There is a nice restaurant located on the north end of the beach that has a nice selection of mediterranean type food. On the south end of the beach there is a small fish stand that served delicious, fresh fish and ceviche. Both establishments are within walking distance to Casa Tortuga. It was the perfect place to escape to in the middle of winter. The perfect weather, comfortable amenities, and friendly caretakers make Casa Tortuga a great destination for a relaxing getaway. My only complaint was that we couldn't stay longer! My husband and I can't wait to go back!

Left on 09/28/2010 for a stay in March 2010
I stayed at Casa Tortuga during my sister's wedding in February 2010. They had the ceremony and reception at the house and it was a beautiful location for both. It accommodated about 40 people. The house is located on the beach on a private bay/beach and is a great place for relaxing, snorkeling, kayaking, and reading in a hammock. The house is great for having a family or friends getting together for a vacation. There is a kitchen for cooking but also nearby restaurants to go to and you can request a meal to be made by the ground/home keepers of house which was great food! There are two floors with a bedroom, kitchen and living room upstairs and two bedrooms downstairs. There is also a great place to eat on the beach to next to it for awesome food on the beach. I would highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a stay in Mexico.

San Francisco, CABeautiful Paradise of Relaxation!
Left on 09/28/2010 for a stay in August 2010
Casa Tortuga was such an amazing experience! I highly recommend Casa Tortuga, for any travelers staying in Tulum.
I spent a 2 weeks unforgettable weeks there, and my husband and I are already planning our trip back!
The house is very roomy. We were a large party of 12 people, we were all very comfortable!
The downstairs patio is so much fun! There is a large table, grill and surround sound wired all over the patio. Needless to say we had a great time sipping some drinks, and eating a fresh catch from the bay.
We asked the caretaker Luis to prepare meals for us and he did a Wonerful job! Everything was home mad and delicious! Yum! Gabby even provided us with laundry service, and maid service.
We took the Kayaks out into the Bay and snorkeled all afternoon. The reefs are some of the best I have seen. I even say a turtle swim by!
The house was very nice, and clean. I loved falling asleep under the big palapa to the sound of the waves. The hammocks out front were wonderful to lounge on, and the bar inside + surrounds sound = a ton of fun!
I saw other rentals and hotels, and they were either mc mansions, or tacky all inclusive resorts, all I can say is I am happy I was at Casa Tortuga, it was authentic and the private beach was great! :)

Sacramento, CaliforniaWedding In Paradise
Left on 09/27/2010 for a stay in February 2010
We stayed at Casa Tortuga for our wedding. My wife had stayed there several years earlier. My expectations were far underestimated.
We arrived and were greeted by the caretakers Luis & Gabby. I was amazed at how incredible the house was with its thatched roof and shuttered windows. We unpacked and had a wonderful dinner which Luis & Gabby had prepared for our late arrival. The music from the sound system was soon playing outside and in. Everyone was excited; on vacation at last! We enjoyed the rest of the night in the hammocks on the beach under a full moon. At sunrise we were amazed to find how beautiful the water and sand really were. There's nothing like waking up to waves crashing and a warm breeze blowing through the windows. Imagine opening the door/windows and while lying in bed gaze out at the light blue waters and white sandy beach at what seems like the foot of the house!
We prepared breakfast on the kitchen stove, and enjoyed it especially with a cool glass of Oj/pineapple juice. Our time was spent in the hammocks, swimming, snorkeling, kayaking and visiting with family and friends staying in houses nearby. We used the snorkeling gear to see fish, turtles, eels and rays all within swimming distance of the house. We visited cenotes, Mayan ruins and other beaches all within a short drive.
The wedding went off without a hitch. Forty of our friends and family made it to paradise. Everyone had an unforgettable time attending the Mayan ceremony. The sky changed colors as the sun set behind the house and the full moon rose above the ocean. The grounds and private beach made for some beautiful pictures and memories which will never be forgotten.
The time to leave came too soon. Casa Tortuga was everything we could have dreamed of and more. It was the prefect place to have our wedding and an even better place to spend a week in the sand with our friends. We will be back as soon as we can...perhaps for our one year!
