Colorful schools of Fish, Rays, Sea Turtles, Puffers and Barracuda are just a few of the creatures that grace these waters. atlantaMore Than I Could Have Imagined
Left on 11/05/2012 for a stay in November 2012
I read about this place on a blog and truthfully, going to Mexico wasn't the highest destination on my travel list but after reading about being able to stay in my own small cottage on the beach I was intrigued.
Driving to Soliman Bay made me wonder if I'd made a mistake. You have to drive about 10 minutes down a very bumpy unpaved road but once you get here you will not want to leave. This place is so much more than we imagined! We have our own casita on the beach with a perfect view, a hammock and no noise, except for the sounds of gentle waves lapping and birds. This is not a heavily populated area and while there are people nearby, there are plenty of times you can be at the beach with no one around. It's funny but we haven't missed a sunrise or sunset since we arrived. We have a kitchenette in our place so we went to Playa for groceries. No need to go to Playa. The city of Tulum is a few miles away and you will find everything you need in there. In some ways I feel like I shouldn't talk about how amazing this place is so that it remains quietly discovered by just a few. One thing I have loved about being in Nah Uxibal has been Javier and Victoria. They are the care takers here and they make you feel at home. Victoria came and made dinner for us one night. Javier cut us fresh coconut and brought us fresh grapefruit. Snorkeling is right outside the front door and Nah Uxibal has all the basic equipment you need to go out and enjoy daily snorkeling. Come prepared to unplug and relax.
One of our favorite things in the neighborhood is Chamicos, an outdoor beach restaurant. To get there just drive past Nah Uxibal until the road ends and you will see a few tables under the trees right on the beach. There are no menus. You will be able to order the fresh catch of the day and you will have never tasted fish as good as fish prepared the Chamico way.
It has been so impressive to be in a place where everyone, both visitors and especially the local people respect nature and all of the natural resources that are here. After spending just a few moments here I've been more mindful of conservation. Nah Uxibal is so special on many levels. Being here has been a vacation in paradise.
This place is peaceful perfection.
Jeannette the owner was wonderful to send plenty of information about the area with lots of suggestions. She has been incredibly responsive to our questions and has made us feel perfectly at home. If I could figure out a way to stay a bit longer I would but one thing is for certain. We will be back. -

I sort of hate to say it out loud/online because as much as I love it, I almost hate to have others discover how wonderful it is to stay at Nah Uxibal. I have been coming here once a year for about five years now and it is truly the most relaxing, perfect vacation destination I know. And, between Skip and Jeannette (the owners) and Victoria and Javier (the caretakers) you are bound to feel the hospitality long before and long after your stay.

We loved it. Web photos are accurate. Stepped right out of our studio and just a few short steps to the beach. Take a walk left outside on the beach to the opening of the bay and see the tide pools. We saw a sea turtle and a ray fish just in the bay. Quiet, relaxed atmosphere.

We stayed for five nights of bliss...total relaxation and raw beauty. Upon arrival we were greeted by Javier and Victoria who are very warm and gentle people; they were always there if you needed them but never interfered with our privacy in any way. Dear Lady (the resident dog) was a pleasure as well; she too is very warm and gentle. Our casita (IK) was the perfect accommodation for my husband and I...very romantic and with everything we needed including a very comfortable king size bed; a terrific private, outdoor shower (palm tree included); and, a full kitchen! But, the very best part was our own private front patio right on the beach. You can't beat getting up in the morning, putting on your swim suit and sitting on your patio (basically on the beach) with a cup of coffee...looking out at the beautiful scenary and hearing just the sound of the breeze and the lapping of the water.
The location is very unique in that it is very private and the scenary to the north is purely natural and to the south just a small number of houses can be seen among the palm trees. We often felt like we were on an isolated island in the south pacific. It was heaven on earth and we barely left to do much of anything. We spent most of our time being on our patio or the beach reading, napping, talking. We also enjoyed occasional walks, some swimming and snorkeling. I would have to say it was the most enjoyable and relaxing vacation we have ever had. Additionally the weather was perfect with the constant breeze and no mosquitos!
If you are looking for relaxation, natural beauty, solitude and rejuvenation you have to visit Nah Uxibal!! You won't be disappointed. -

This was our 4th vacation at magical Nah Uxibal, and it just keeps getting better. While the Riviera Maya has changed so much in the past 10 years, Nah Uxibal remains a serene slice of heaven! We love staying in a casita (either Ik or Ha), a mere 25 steps, through lush tropical foliage, to the beach. I can't imagine a better day, than waking up to gentle birdsong, an exquisite sunrise, and the sound of waves lapping at the beach. Our days were spent reading, relaxing on the beach, taking walks, with occasional time spent kayaking or snorkeling in the crystal clear water.
You can see & feel the love and passion for natural beauty, that Skip & Jeannette (she's a sweetie) have infused here. They are wonderful people and their "House of Good Energy" is exactly that. Javier & Victoria are so friendly, and it's a joy to see their smiling faces every day. It's always fun to chat with Rosa, and play with Lady and the other Soliman dogs! They all make us feel so welcome and like family!
Our beautiful casita, was charming, had great views and was well equipped with all that we needed...love the outdoor Bali shower!!! For us, it doesn't get any better than Nah Uxibal, our perfect place to de-stress and relax. We can't wait to go back!!!

Cary, North CarolinaAnother dream week at Nah Uxibal
Left on 08/08/2011 for a stay in July 2011
If a genie gave you a wish, and you said: "put me on the most beautiful beach in Mexico", you would probably find yourself at Nah Uxibal. We stayed at Nah Uxibal (Casa Ik) 7 years ago and have never found a better beach rental since...so we went back. We were greeted by Lady, the Queen of Nah Uxibal and the sweetest dog you'll ever meet. The kitchen has everything you need, if you like to cook. The king bed is so comfortable, even for me, a 6'5" guy. The casita does not have aC, but the constant breeze off the ocean kept us cool enough. The caretakers Javier and Victoria keep Nah Uxibal looking pristine. I think the meal Victoria made for us one night was the best we had all week.
But the best part of Nah Uxibal is the view you wake up to every morning; white sand, palm trees and turquoise water. Don't bother looking for a better place to snorkel, Soliman Bay has it all. We'll be sure not to wait so long until our next visit!
