DIG
Wilmette, ILEsw #312 - Not bad, but not Solitude's best
Left on 04/04/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We've rented a couple of units at Solitude and found this particular unit to be pretty spartan; if you're looking to stay in a condo that has a "homey" feel this is not the unit for you as this feels like an investment property. So it lacks some of the things you'd find in a unit that has an owner-user, like adequate space to store/hang ski clothes and boots, kitchen "extras" (like saran wrap or ziploc bags), TVs that cost more than $50, and so on. (A few years ago Hdtv was a luxury, but at this point I'm surprised to find old CRT sets when you can buy a nice new one for $150.) In other words - there's nothing missing from the unit versus what is "required" to be there, but there's nothing extra either.
The other downside of this particular unit is that it is directly below a 4th floor penthouse, which during our stay was occupied by a large and boisterous family whose young kids liked to have footraces around the unit well after midnight. Solitude units seem to have this sound problem and unfortunately if you're not a very heavy sleeper the only two foolproof solutions are to either stay in a top-floor unit, or to complain to your neighbors if at some point the amount of noise coming from upstairs is really too much to deal with.
Canyon Vacation Rentals do a great job and Solitude is a great place (actually, no, stay away so we can have great snow and no lines ...) but unfortunately this particular unit isn't anything special. -

Washington DCPerfect family spot, convenient, sunny and clean
Left on 01/18/2013 for a stay in January 2013
This was our third time in the unit, we like the vaulted ceiling in the living area, and how close it is to slopes. Especially nice is how the master bedroom and second room with bunk beds is separated - no hearing the kids through the wall. We watch movies, cook dinner, and play games on the nice big dining room table and watch the ice skating out our windows. Only small thing missing: a blender! Otherwise the kitchen is well equipped with pots and pans.

Darien, CTCozy & comfortable
Left on 02/29/2012 for a stay in February 2012
We came with our three children, aged 8, 5 & 3. The bunk bed sleeping arrangement worked perfectly since the bottom bunk is a double bed. The kids loved it. The master bedroom was also comfortable. We had nice views of the skating rink and the mountain. The building itself gave us easy access to the shuttle, the pool, the club and the village. Only think we would add would be a few games and puzzles. Otherwise perfect for our needs.

Washington DCCozy and Convenient
Left on 01/16/2012 for a stay in December 2011
Our second time in this unit and we love the high ceilings, how convenient it is and it spaciousness. Was super-clean and bright. Looks out over the skating rink and towards the Stone Haus. Having a separate bedroom for our kids was crucial to our sanity. Nice tv/dvd player and kids liked sitting at kitchen "bar" for breakfast.

Washington DCComfortable, clean and spacious
Left on 06/20/2011 for a stay in January 2010
this unit is on the corner, has windows out to skating rink and plenty of room. Bunk beds has a double on the bottom, so sleeping 3 kids would be no problem (we had 2). It was a bit of a walk for our six year old to ski school shuttle pickup, but if you help carry skis, it's okay. We loved the underground parking and the ability to buy some food at the "grocery". but is it very limited - nothing fresh, but pasta and frozen pizzas and chips and snacks. Still, helpful in a pinch.

We called from the mountain during lunch needing to find a place for that night. Shannon was great and helped us find the perfect spot at the perfect price. The facility's blew my mind and the location was simply amazing! The only thing that went wrong was my friend hurt his knee bad enough to end our stay a full day prior to our intended checkout and ended up paying for an empty condo the last night. All in all I'll be staying with this company again.

Marietta, GAGreat family condo!
Left on 04/23/2010 for a stay in April 2010
We had a wonderful stay in Solitude over Spring
Break! We have been to Solitude several times in the
past, but this is the first - and hopefully not the
last - in this particular condo.
Two bathrooms and bunk beds made this a very
comfortable stay for our family! The location could
not be better - right in the center of everything.
And on top of it all, those vaulted ceilings made the
condo feel a little more luxurious. Always a nice
touch on vacation! -

San DiegoAbsolute Solitude!
Left on 02/25/2010 for a stay in February 2010
The Village at Solitude is a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Our particular condo (E312) was fully equiped and much larger than we are used to in mountainside condos such as Mammoth. The folks at Canyon Vacation Rentals are great and provided a high level of service. Thank you!

Deep SouthConvenient, well kept and roomy Solidude condo
Left on 01/14/2010 for a stay in December 2009
I stayed at Eagle Springs West for Christmas '09. There was just enough snow to ski, although the skiing was better just a mile up the road at Brighton. If you are coming as a family, this condo is perfect. It is fairly spacious for a condo and the views were great. The ice skating rink is nice as is Club Solitude. There were plenty of towels in the unit. All dishes and what not are provided also. Do not count on the restaurants at Solitude for all your meals as they are limited, but good although expensive. We purchased groceries at Smiths supermarket in Sandy. We cooked breakfast and skied back for a sandwich lunch, then ate out for dinner as most everyone was too tired to cook. The underground parking is nice and secure as well as the condo.. All in all it was a wonderful stay in Utah.
