    Additional Location Information

Beech Hill Haven is in the village of Somesville, in the town of Mount Desert, on Mount Desert Island in Maine. It sits on over 2 acres of land, 300 feet from the road. The house is surrounded by lovely moss and woods. It is centrally located on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, about 15 minutes from Bar Harbor, with Acadia National Park on your doorstep.

There is so much to see and do here, depending on your interests. Take a hike, or ride your bike on the many carriage roads, with a stop at Jordan Pond House for popovers on the lawn. Or rent a canoe or kayak, go birdwatching, fishing, or swimming, sit on some rocks and watch the waves at high tide, take a ranger led walk or boat ride to one of the nearby islands, go to one of the lovely nearby gardens, or play golf. Of course, Bar Harbor, Southwest Harbor, and Northeast Harbor are just minutes away, with lots of shops and restaurants to explore. A fresh Maine lobster is always a delicious vacation treat. It’s also great to relax at the house with a good book or video, put your feet up, and watch the wildlife that stops by.

      A peaceful Woodland Setting

Left on 05/19/2013 for a stay in October 2012

Rented this property as part of a road trip to celebrate a friends recent retirement from Teaching. It was comfortable. It was quiet. It was convenient to everything. We both loved to hike and climb the many mountains. Bobbie had all the information we needed to find places to explore. It was wonderful to return each evening after a day of hiking and wandering to a hot shower, cozy fire (it was October)and a convenient well furnished kitchen for cooking. Acadia National Park and Mt. Desert Island are wonderful places and I plan on visiting them again and again and again. I'd stay here every time

      Quiet, Peaceful, Perfect

Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beech Hill Haven. From the moment we walked in, her home was clean, cozy and inviting. It has everything you could want in a vacation rental. Bobbie has obviously spent a lot of time and effort attending to the little details that make a vacation home welcoming and comfortable. We really felt cared for. All of the appliances were in good working order and her instructions on using them clear and easy to follow. The variety of cooking implements and utensils alone is more than ample. And best of all, the house is secluded, yet close enough to the park to make most points of interest easily accessible. It's well worth a weeks rental.

      Home away from home

Left on 05/16/2012 for a stay in July 2011

Our family loves to stay in the woods at Beech Hill Haven!! We will be going up there for the third year in a row this summer. We love the clean, homey feel of the place and the fact that the master bedroom and bath are on their own upstairs. Our children stay in the two bedrooms on the main level. They have their own bathroom. The great room is roomy and airy -- plenty of movies to watch and games to play. Wi-fi and cable TV. I really like having the washer and dryer right there on the main level, too.
The kitchen is small but adequate for preparing a meal to be eaten at the dining table in the great room or out on the deck, which is surrounded by woods and some lovely plantings. There is also a small eating table with room for two in the kitchen itself. Beech Hill Haven is a nice place to come home to after a day of hiking, kayaking (in acadia National Park)or playing tourist in Bar Harbor. This house is located on the "quiet side" of Mount Desert Island, so you almost get the feeling that you have the whole area to yourself, which we love! The owner is a joy to deal with. We highly recommend Beech Hill Haven for your next trip to the acadia Region.

What more could you want in a vacation rental

Left on 05/10/2012 for a stay in September 2010

Along with 4 friends, we rented Beech Hill Haven for a girl's week away to celebrate big birthdays. We were totally satisfied. The home had all the comforts of home: cable TV, barbeque, games, lots of kitchen items and was in a terrific location. The beauty of Acadia National Park is right down the road. The home is nestled in a beautiful park-like setting, yet is minutes from the ocean, quaint towns and numerous activities in the area.
