MentorJust the way we hoped it would be.

The best part of the trip was the cottage complex itself. It was like our own vacation home. The arrival instructions sent well in advance were clear and complete with directions and instructions on how to access the cottage. The welcome information included all the information we needed to access the bikes and use the internet. It was self-service for the most part.
The cottage was charming. Very clean, comfortable, and well appointed with bath robes, nice towels, and private labeled bath products. Their store,'Sonoma's Best' is found just in front of the cottage complex. The store is stocked with gourmet local goodies, a wine shop, a deli, and coffee shop with great coffee and breakfast treats. We had our morning coffee and muffins there daily. The kitchen was more than adequate for cooking great meals with the fresh foods bought at the markets. We did miss a good knife and a colander.
The gardens and courtyards were meticulously kept. The private courtyard with chairs, table and chimenea provided the perfect evening venue to enjoy the starlit sky while sipping the wonderful wine we had purchased at the local wineries.
The location was less than a mile from Sonoma Square and located within a mile or so of several excellent wineries which we walked and biked to (Buena Vista, Gundlach Bundschu, and Bartholomew Park). There was an article in the store by Frommer's that detailed a few of the local 'walking tours' that helped us find our way around even better. -

Fresno, CaliforniaLes Petites Maisons et Tres Magnificique est Romantique!
Left on 09/23/2011 for a stay in July 2010
My husband and I stayed for four days/nights at Les Petites Maisons cottages in Sonoma and had such a magnificent time! We took advantage of a two-for-one offer -- and it was so worth it! The cottages are absolutely adorable -- clean as a whistle - so tranquil - and perfectly located. The cottage was so lovely - and even included nice welcoming gifts! We tasted wine at nearby wineries, slept late each morning, made yummy breakfasts at our cottage, read, napped, walked, and enjoyed lovely summer evenings by the chimineria in the gated front area of our cottage. The gardens were so nice... and we hardly saw a soul. We had hoped to go back this summer -- but life intervened. We are planning for a trip next summer to reprise our wonderful sojourn at Les Petites Maison -- fantastique! Oh...accidentally left my wallet in the bureau -- called and the owner was so accommodating -- drove back and picked it up without a problem. The entire experience was so positive!

Ann ArborThe perfect cottages to stay and enjoy Sonoma!
Left on 02/18/2011 for a stay in August 2010
The bachelorette weekend we had at Les Petites Maisons was nothing short of perfect! From the moment we got to the cottages, we felt relaxed and taken care of: from the welcome baskets with snacks and water to the music softly playing in the background, we loved the ambiance Gayle created. Minutes from Sonoma plaza, we were able to enjoy the luxuries of the property and Sonoma's gorgeous square. The cottages provided space for respite, while the outside patio was perfect to enjoy the outdoor property, especially after a quick jaunt to your amazing store for morning coffee and breakfast (the Gruyere chicken sandwich was to die for, by the way!). Thank you for creating and maintaining such a lovely place.

Left on 02/16/2011 for a stay in December 2010
My husband and I stayed in the one bedroom cottage called Trois Fleurs at Les Petites Maisons for one month at the end of December '10 through to January 2011. The cozy cottage had everything we required for a stay of that length. It was spotlessly clean, quiet and comfortable. Gayle, the owner, was often on site, but never obtrusive, and always contactable by email or mobile phone.
Although Sonoma is packed full of really nice places to dine out, we cooked quite a few meals in the well equipped kitchen (I even did some Christmas cooking there!) and were able to procure lovely pre-made things to eat, when we were feeling lazy, at the little adjacent market/wine/deli shop. (I would especially recommend the meatballs if they are still making them!) Incidentally, the market, Sonoma's Best (owned and operated by the same people that own the cottages), was a real plus as we bought our morning espresso from the lovely staff there every day.
We walked into Sonoma most days, which was about a 10 minute walk up the road. We did not get to use the bikes or bbq available because the weather was a bit too rainy, but I can see it would be wonderful in the summer. It seems churlish to mention that the wireless reception was a bit patchy, and there were a few things in the cottage that were a bit worn, but all things considered, it was an excellent place to stay and we enjoyed it very, very much. -

I have visited Sonoma at least 4 times in the last year for a day at my favorite spa (Raindance) & 1 nite in a hotel. Looking at a longer stay, I searched for something pet friendly with cooking facilities & I found the best thing in Sonoma, both in price & ambience. This is a beautiful place and Gayle has thought of absolutely everything to make you feel welcomed, relaxed & able to experience the Sonoma lifestyle. The guides talk about the casual, but sophisticated ambience of this area & this Cottage property exudes it. It is just far enough out of town to be away from the crowds (& very quiet), but close enough to walk in if the weather is good. It is also within a good walk to Bartholomew Park & Winery & several sweet neighborhoods. Each cottage in this complex has some type of patio, with chiminea & seating, along with a stone wall around the cottage, with a metal scroll gate (perfect for a pet). The inside is painted & decorated in soothing colors and beautiful textures. You have direct tv, with great music & movie choices, a wonderful heater that allows you to be as warm as you want, a comfortable bed & outstanding pillows(!), a great bathroom with very soft towels & extra heaters and a great kitchen. While many people would take this kind of vacation to eat out, I had the most fun shopping at Whole Foods & leisurely cooking meals my family wouldn't appreciate! I even made my favorite Snickerdoodle cupcakes for friends at the spa (I did bring a small box of my own cooking things, but Gayle will provide a "mini-pantry" on request & there are plenty of Calphalon pans & a variety of mixing/storing bowls & utensils). Now that I've commented on the beautiful property, I'm going to tell you the best part... the welcoming and ideal set-up for your best buddy. This is the best place to bring your 4-legged friend...gated room to play & even welcoming biscuits on arrival. Otis had great fun chasing his toys in the common area & sitting in the garden w/mom.

My boyfriend and I stayed in the Un Soleil cottage while visiting the many wineries around the Sonoma area. We loved being able to wake up in a home-like atmosphere, cooking out own breakfast, departing for the day, and then returning to a relaxing environment to sip on our new purchases. We brought our dog along with us as well, which made his stay very comfortable and relaxing. I would recommend anyone stay here. We are planning to come back very soon!

Oakland, CaliforniaDelightful and charming cottages in Sonoma
Left on 03/16/2010 for a stay in July 2008
Awesome! And, what a great location! Les Petites Maisons is just east of the Sonoma Plaza, close to all the wineries and great restaurants. These little houses are absolutely charming with all the warm touches of home - so much better than staying in a hotel room. Plus, they have bikes and Weber gas BBQ's to use at no additional cost. My only regret was that we were not able to stay longer -- Highly recommended by a frequent Wine Country visitor who now knows where to stay in the Wine Country.

We had a wonderful stay in the Deux Jardins cottage. It was relaxing, cozy and spotlessly clean. First class furnishings, fixtures and linens. Enjoying our morning coffee in our own little courtyard, while looking out at the surrounding hills, was a daily treat. A comfortable, private base for all our wine country explorations. We loved coming "home" each evening.
