San Diego, CaliforniaSpectacular location and beautiful home!
Left on 07/15/2012 for a stay in December 2011
I am a little tardy on writing this review. My husband and I with our adult children and their partners spent the week before Christmas and New Years at Le Gallerie. The staff are truly amazing, they even had the house decorated and had a Christmas tree up. We were met by Bernard at the airport and he is a wonderful driver and guide. We were advised to not rent a car and use Bernard to drive us around. Being the adventurous type we went ahead and rented the car. I am really sorry that we did. Bernard is not expensive and the road to the house is quite nasty. Price wise it is a better deal to use a driver or use cabs. We had the house stocked with food for the first few days and then we used the a fore mentioned car to get our own groceries. I find shopping in foreign countries quite interesting and this was the case. St. Lucia is a small island and has very little variety in food. The staff at the house turn so so food into something amazing and I advise that you let the staff shop and cook for you for the most part. We went with Bernard to anse La Rey for the fish night and that was really worth it. However the restaurants are for the most part not worth the trouble. We did go to Hotel Chocolat for New Years Eve. They put on a wonderful night and we had a multi course dinner all themed around chocolate. Dancing, music, a great night. We had dinner the other night we ate out at Landera, not really worth it. Expensive and just OK. Stay home and have a relaxing dinner cooked by Sharmaine.
Things to do
Swim in the pool: Wonderful, we swam every day multiple times.
Go to the Beach: We walked down to anse Chastanet many days. The beach is beautiful and the snorkeling is very good.
Go to the botanical gardens: We enjoyed it a very nice walk and lots of amazing tropical plants.
Go check out the volcano: I liked it and we even had a dip into the hot sulpher water.
Drive around the island: Not really worth it, stay in Soufriere. It's a charming town.
Rent a yacht/boat: Our kids payed for a half day cruise on a catamaran and it was amazing. Enjoyed snorkeling off Jalousie Beach.
Read, hang out by the pool and drink rum punch: Yes, yes and Yes.
You are paying for the house and the amazing views, stay there ,enjoy the experience. Don't bother going to many other places, nothing is going to be as wonderful as Le Gallerie.
The staff is truly amazing. We loved them all and truly felt sad to leave. Albert the night watchman is a wonderful gent and trustworthy to a fault.
This house was a stretch for us financially. We flew 8 people across the States and then into the Caribbean. The house is not cheap. Here's the deal, Sandals will no doubt be cheaper. But, you will not have the same experience. It is fantastic to have the run of an amazing house with world class views. The staff treat you as if you are royalty. We were celebrating a special anniversary and it was well worth it. We got to see how the other half live!
Several of our family needed to do work while we were down there and the wire fi worked with only one hitch. One day someone pushed a button that they shouldn't have pushed. The manager came over immediately and fixed it. Thank you Brian.
One last thing, the kids tell me that a HM3 cable would be good to take as they could then stream shows/movies from their lap tops to the TV. -

I just got back from having my destination wedding at Le Gallerie and it was by far one of the most amazing places I have ever seen. The views are stunning from every single room and the main sitting area is just amazing. The staff is friendly (make sure you figure out meal plans with Charmaine, the cook, upon arrival so you don't need to worry about it for the rest of your stay) and albert the security guard kept us laughing with his tales and stories. We had a variety of people in our group- our friends (late 20's, early 30's) family in thier 50's and 60's and small children, 15 months and 3 years old, and everyone had a blast. There is a steep trail going down to the water that has phenomenal snorkeling so definately check that out. You can also walk down the hill to the super fancy anse Chastenet resort where you can sit on the beach and snorkel as well. I don't recommened eating or drinking there though- it is incredibly overpriced and the staff was all very rude because we were not staying at the resort. We pretty much stayed in the town of Soufriere and went to dinner there (Dasheen at Ladera, Boucan at Hotel Chocolat and Jardin Cacao Restaurant & Bar at the Fond Doux Plantation are all incredibly delicious) You really didn't want to leave the villa because it was so beautiful and had everything you needed. I would definately go back here- we had some amazing memories at this villa that I will carry with me the rest of my life.
