Danville, CABest Rental Ever!!!
Left on 08/27/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We rented this cabin for our son's wedding 8/25/12. When I was looking for a rental this one was the best price for the size and walking distance to the lake and the house where the wedding took place right on the lake one block away!!! We hosted a BBQ on our first night there and everyone fit comfortable and those who rented other cabins (which were not as nice and further away) asked were we ever found this gem! The Nelsons were always very quick to respond to questions and very accomodating to our needs. When you think about all the money you save by doing your own cooking and putting up other family members the price gets even better! Thanks again to the Nelsons and it made our son's wedding even better!!!

Just returned from 6 days in Lake Tahoe and a wonderful stay at Lakeside Lodge. We celebrated our mother's 75th birthday and it was the perfect setting. Plenty of room for everyone and our daughter's Corgi. Comfy sectional couch big screen Tv and 2 large dining tables. The patio was nice (wish it had a large table and more chairs outside) . We brought camping chairs and umbrella and chaise lounge so it was fine. Hot tub was perfect at the end of everyday. Used barbeque almost everynight. Beds upstairs are little worn and hard.
Fine tor younger kids. My young adults not too happy with them. Downstairs bedrooms perfect. Showers and bathrooms perfect and clean. Had the garbage cans and wood structure pushed over onto my husbands truck so don't park to close to it. We heard a loud bang not sure what happened. Everyone said it was a bear. Not sure. Doubt it though. The owner John wasgreat to deal with. I had a lot of questions and he answered them all. Walk to the beach, food, wine tasting, best milk shakes and natural food. Stay here and have a great time! -

32655Great location! Take a short walk to watch the gorgeous sunset!
Left on 06/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We normally camp as a family and I decided that that wasn't much of a vacation for the Mom's in the family. So, I looked for a family friendly home in South Lake Tahoe for our family of 12 to hang out and relax in. We all enjoyed the home very much. We all fell in love with the couch in the living room. So comfy and I think a few of us snoozed on it during our stay! We were able to walk down the street to watch a beautiful sunset, We made good use of the BBQ as well as the hot tub. The owner was a peach to deal with. Because no one was checking in after us, he told me we could stay past the normal check out time if we liked. It was a great way to vacation with our whole family. We all have great memories of sitting around one of the tables chatting while another group sat at a table and played UNO. There is a beautiful map of SLT on a wall and it was used to figure out places to hike for a few adventurous souls! Oh, and be sure and wake someone up with the trout on the wall! : )

San Jose, CABeautiful Cozy Lodge, Great amenities!
Left on 08/16/2011 for a stay in August 2011
My family and I just spent a 3 night weekend here. First off, Best bang for your buck! Great location! one block from the lake with beautiful view of the shores! Literally 10 buck cab ride from the casinos which are about 5 mins away! The lodge itself was fully funished with more than enough amenities one could ask for. The children fell in love with the attic room, which provides all sorts of toys, board games, puzzles etc. Also has really nice kids furniture, a bench and chairs. Nice cozy patio area includes a hot tub and a BBQ. Place is indeed beautifully remodeled! All n all I would highly recommend this lodge to anybody considering great location, beautiful views of lake literally one block away, and last but not least best bang for the buck! My family and I will definitely be coming back in the near future!

My wife, two boys and myself stayed here for 3 nights and had a great time! The location is perfect for anytime of year. The lake is only a few blocks away as are Tahoes best milkshakes at the Sno-Flake! Although the resorts were not open yet I noticed the pickup spot for both Heavenly and Kirkwood within a 10 minute walk from the house. For those that like the casinos (or the arcade at Harveys for the kids..wink wink)they are under a 10 minute drive or $10 cab fare away. There is a Safeway about 5 minutes down the road for any grocery needs and it also has a "Redbox" style DVD rental system ($1 a night, no sign up, just need a credit card). Also about 5 minutes down the
road towards the Nevada border is the Naked Fish for you Sushi lovers (this place is INCREDIBLE!!) and The Tahoe Bowl that has Blue Dog Pizza inside (great pizza and if you go between 11-2 during the week EVERYTHING is half price!).
Now for the house... with all of these great things around we spent most of our time at the house and let me tell you, there is plenty to keep the kids, and the adults happy! First off, there are five bedrooms so you'll never feel "crowded" in the house. The back two bedrooms are set up specifically for kids with a set of bunk beds in each. In one room there is an air hockey table and indoor basketball hoop along with a tv and DVD player (this is where my kids spent most of their time). In the other are some toys and many childrens books. There is also a door that seperates this area off from the rest of the house in case the kids (or adults) are being loud. The Master Bedroom also has a TV and a king size bed which was nice. The living room is very cozy with a nice flatscreen tv and directv in case you want a night in and the kitchen is fully functional so you don't have to spend $$ on going out to eat all the time. There is a hot tub outside of the lower bedroom with a door to the house very close (no freezing)! All in all, it was a great time at a great place!

I loved the ability to walk to the Lake, and also into the local area to grab a bite to eat. Nice and flat area with everything in close to you. a short drive to the mountains, Emerald Bay, the casinos, and shopping.. I would buy in the area if I could, and I love the nottypine feel of the kitchen/livingroom with a fireplace. They have made the house a cozy/warm/charming place with 5 bedrooms and bunks for the kids and a game room too. a car port to keep off the weather, and now a hot tub to soak in after a long excercise.. Try it.
I will be back soon.. -

Alamo, CAGreat Family Cabin!
Left on 09/03/2009 for a stay in August 2009
We just came back from a great trip - our usual rental home was booked so we tried "South Lake Lodge" and loved it! Here's what stood out:
- While the home isn't new, the furnishings, kitchen and baths look like they were newly updated and were very clean & high-end compared to other rental houses we've stayed at
- The kids spent hours in the game room which gave us adults time to actually sit down, relax and talk:)
- The owners left us a free bottle of tasty wine to enjoy ...a nice touch after 5 hours in the car!
- We walked to this amazing beach each morning w/ the kids - a great park and playground for those with little ones
- The owners hooked us up with a great babysitter which gave us a chance to hit the casino's two of the nights - my wife even won $2,000 on video poker more than paying for our trip:)
No real negatives except the thunderstorms in August can cut your beach days a bit short
